About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

It is a very nice course
It is a good golf course all around it it has hills side lies uphill lies downhill lies it makes you a better golfer Good all round
Favorite course in Sacramento Area
Apple mountain is the most unique experience in golf.
Great Hidden Secret
Being that I was there for the first time, I was very impressed at the conditions of the fairways and greens. They were very well kept, especially after winter. Scenery was fantastic, the course at certain holes are even better. A great place to play, not your typical course. A lot of hills and the par 3's were pretty tough. The up hill holes are tough as well.
Loved playing and would definitely play again.
Visually stunning
This is one of those courses you stumble upon and are extremely impressed. It's not too long, but the varying elevation changes make it challenging. Sometimes the greens get a little bumpy but it's not a deal breaker. And the price is very reasonable. Every time I leave Apple Mountain, I think to myself, "what a great spot!" I'll make the drive every chance I get.
This course has chipping and putting areas
Today will be my fourth day practicing on the course, and the putting and chipping greens are in fair conditing with camparison to actual greens.
Beautiful course
I mistakenly booked a tee time on golfnow.com for the wrong day,,the 19th. The staff took care of me and allowed me to play the 21st when they saw i was a no show on the 19th,,,
Apple Mtn 3-21
The course is very challenging but the hardest part is knowing where to hit it and where not to hit it when you havent played there before. The course is beautiful visually and the layout is good with no holes being the same. The par 3's are excellent and if you like getting home in two and can hit the driver straight on par 5's you will like this course. I am a low single digit handicap and had to grind out a lot of pars but shot fairly well. My son who hits it long but not always straight found plenty of trouble. He is a 10 handicap but shot a 104. That will tell you all you need to know about this course. Two things I didnt like were that the greens were not in very good shape. They have big undulations making them tough to putt but they were VERY slow and bumpy. I was expecting pristine greens ad that was a disappointment. The other thing I didnt like was that my son and I wanted to have a beer on their patio after finishing the round at 4:45 on a Friday and the restaurant/bar was closed! At 4:45 on a Friday? The restaurant in general is very odd looking. A big room filled with chairs with no character. Definitely not a course you want to go to if a good 19th hole is important to you. Overall, the course was as beautiful as any you will find. The conditions minus the greens were great but the greens were not good and I hope that was just timing. I will go back and play again and would recommend the course but if you are a high handicapper bring plenty of balls.
great moutain golf
if you like mountain golf this is it,fantastic very plush and green. hope yo do better next time six holes if not played well big numbers. no beginners should play this course.
Well worth the money
Not your typical course. It's long but you're not just gripping and ripping here. This course really makes you strategize your shot. For about 14 of the 18 holes you're hitting irons off the tee box. This was different for me but I enjoyed it, forced me to play really "smart" golf, not necessarily hit it long but hit it so I could get a good approach shot, sure you can bomb it 300+ on some of these holes but then your lie is on an uphill slope and good luck gettin outta this mess. Overall, it's an amazing course!
Besides golf what views
Hadn't played this course in a while. Got a good deal through Golfnow.com and went up with a friend. Beautiful day to play and not many people out, can't figure that out. Fairways were in great shape as were the greens, fast. This is a tough course but worth the effort to play. They did lose one green to the cold, sits in an area that doesn't get a lot of sun so we did have one make up green. Couple of places you could lose some balls so bring some extra. Also bring your camera to take a few pictures, you won't be disappointed.
Jan 2014
Fee was very affordable. Course was firm and greens were brutal. Riding in a cart was very bumpy even in fairways. Staff was courteous and friendly. Will come back.
Beautiful Mountain Course
Apple Mountain is the closest course to where I live and one of my favorites. Try to keep your ball in the Fairway, if not than you should bring an extra sleeve or two. Great views of the Crystal Range and cool mountain air make Apple Mountain a great place to spend your day, even if your game is lacking luster.
Apple Mountain
Great course. Amazing views and course was in pretty amazing conditions. One home under repair so it was shortened to a Par 3 from a Par 4. All in all a great course and I will be back VERY soon.
rediculous
They book the tee times way too close together on a course that has so many elevation changes that they need to provide a course tip sheet with every cart. The starter let a group of 8 go together and my two some barely finished 9 holes in 4 hours. Course could be great and beautiful but poorly managed.
Sorry you had a bad experience the day you came up. The group of 8 ahead of you teed off as two separate groups. I'm sorry our on course marshal wasn't able to keep tabs on them if they joined up. That is unacceptable and I apologize. Hope you will try us again some time during our "on" season when carts are off paths. Pace of play is much faster when carts are allowed on the course.
covered in snow
Arrived at course and was told several holes were completely covered in snow and unplayable.
Was visiting from another state and would not give refund for green fee. Opted to play but was a miserable experience.
Most holes were covered partially or completely in snow. Course should not have been open for play but instead they opted to take people money anyway. Very sad management.
Sorry you had a bad experience at Apple Mountain. You played on our 1st day back open after 15 days closed due to snow. We definitely pushed our reopening, largely due to our regulars wearing us down and pleading to get it back open. Not sure what happened with not offering a refund or credit of some kind. That goes against our policy in that type of situation. Perhaps it was a prepaid 'hot deal', in which case we received no money to refund. Golf Now should have been able to issue a refund in that case. Please contact us if you are in California again and we'll try to make this right.
Players Course
Not an easy track by any means - but if you enjoy a challenge, and elevation changes - this might be the course for you.
Very well kept, beautiful design - and a fun range of holes - never felt like I was hitting the same shot again and again.
Yes, there are trees, lots of trees. Hit a ball outside of the narrow fairways or landing areas and you likely just lost that ball for good (go chasing after your ball and you probably will come back to your cart with a dozen more)
If you don't like target golf, you might not like this place (it's not target golf, but it's close)
Beautiful, Scenic, Grand
We played this amazing course on Veterans' Day. The greens were enormous and fast. With the hilly terrain, you sometimes couldn't guess which way the ball would roll on the green. The fairways were wide and friendly, although from the tee box they looked hard. Pay close attention to the cheat sheet that they give you, identifying the terrain idiosyncrasies. Staff in the pro-shop, kitchen, and golf course were all very friendly. I definitely look forward to playing this course again.
Awesome greens
I have played this course before, it was in good shape as always. The greens were in particularly good shape and very fast. Be careful
Like playing in Beautiful Lake Tahoe...but with economical
Sacramento prices!!
And cooler in the Summer Days than Sacramento, too!
