Apple Mountain Golf Resort
About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Gold Country, Apple Mountain Resort has a dramatic landscape that provides plenty of elevation changes, making it a nearly impossible course to walk. Some of the drops from tee to green are unbelievable, offering unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Nearly every hole enjoys a stunning backdrop. The incredibly diverse terrain makes the golf course a challenge regardless of whether you are a novice or a pro. Golfers will have to contend with mature trees, water hazards, and numerous strategically placed bunkers in addition to the uneven lies and blind shots that are a result of the undulating landscape. Apple Mountain Resort's golf course is especially nice to play in the summer since its location enjoys a temperature that is at least a few degrees cooler than the Sacramento Valley.

Great course!
Challenging mountain layout (tee off down into valleys, approach shots uphill at greens)...greens were well-maintained, for the most part, and average speed at the beginning of the round (10:20), but were very firm and fast at the end (3pm). In spite of following a 6-some (!!), we played at a good pace.
For an urban golfer like me, the quiet of a mountain course was refreshing (no sounds of planes, trains and automobiles, like I'm used to!).
Great Course!
You don't have to hit far but you'd better hit it straight. Course is in great shape and the setting is spectacular. Once you're on the green your troubles are just beginning. Subtle mounding and gravity defying breaks are just half the problem. Great staff and a great pace of play. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
beautiful scenery
Apple Mountain is challenging but fun. This course set in the foothills is unique in how undulating the fairways and greens are. Tee boxes are hundreds of feet above or below the greens which makes for a very different golf experience, prepare to be humbled, but enjoy the mountains!
great value
This a very challenging course to say the least. You must stay in the fairway and play for position for your next shot. The course itself is beautiful and the setting and views are great. Don't expect many flat lies, as this is truly a mountain course. Hint, bring lots of balls!
Fun to play
We like to play this coarse because it is different from the valley courses. It is fun an a challenge to play. It is not a course to walk . It has Great views.
Nice Mountain Course
I rated it challenging mainly because the greens are very hard to read. It will probably take me 5-6 rounds to gain even a modicum of confidence putting here. I'm an average putter at best, but I think I three-putted all but 4-5 holes. The fairways are fairly wide though you have to allow for side slope rolls. The course is beautiful overall. Definitely worth the drive up the hill from Sacramento.
BEAUTIFUL
Apple Mountain has to be the most beautiful Golf Course in Northern California. Every hole has a breathtaking view of either a stream or a Mountain vista. It will kick your butt & laugh at you, but then you forget it on the next hole !!! If you have never played it ....DO IT !!
beautiful setting, well conditioned course, an A+ destination
Had a wonderful day under ideal conditions. Felt like we had the course to ourselves. Friendly staff on a golf course well maintained and challenging! We will be back.
Greens a little sketchy
The course is beautiful and a challenge. My friend calls it target golf. I hit maybe 4 drivers the whole day. The course is a little short, but when you take the driver out of your bag it evens out. Most of the greens had some dead spots in them. You have a lot of up hill and down hill shots in to the greens. Have fun and good luck...
This kind of beauty on a golf course usually costs three times the price I paid. What a great expierence.
Apple Mountain is one of those golf courses that makes you say"I want to come back again". Being in the mountains and hitting golf balls from high tee boxes to fairways and greens that are hundreds of feet below your feet is a rush. This place has beautiful trees, flowers, spectacular views and great conditions for a good round of golf. I'll be back soon.
Very beautiful, very challenging, even from the whites.
Course is rounding into great shape. Bring your A game, even from the whites its a challenge. Staff and starter very friendly. good practice facility.
Great place to golf!
I took my father-in-law to this course and He loved it! He's from the Seattle WA area and not use to the wonderful weather we have here in northern CA. I love playing here and so does my father-in-law now!!!
we will be back!!
Ball strikers course
A wonderful golf course if you are a above average ball striker. uneven lies even in the middle of most fairways but a beautiful course, with the tee shot on #9 being a blast. Being smart enough not to hit driver on most holes is key. Being able to work the ball both ways is key to scoring here as the course features doglegs in both directions. If you are looking for a true examination of your game, this is your course.
I love this place!
Apple Mountain is a moutain...lots of elevation changes and hazards.
Never an even lie. Cousre was slow with a threesome in front of us. The marshall tried to push them after 9 holes but still slow. Good fairways and tee boxes but a couple of the greens need work. It would have been better if it weren't so slow.
Beautiful Setting, course is in its best condition is in the spring
Really enjoyed the day, pace of play got a little slow on the back nine. Fairways offer very challenging lies! Stay in the middle of the fairways and you get rewarded with an opportunity to hit the ball without to many swing adjusts. Greens were hard so ball does not stick. Length of grass on greens long so you really have to hit it hard. Overall great course and very nice practice facility.
Beautiful well-maintained course in the Sierra Foothills at a great price!
We played this course with a foursome that had a mixed skill level. Everyone was challenged by their respective tee selection, but still had a very enjoyable time. We chose to play this course on our way home from Tahoe versus the overpriced courses in Tahoe. Glad we did! We played in the spring, so all the greens were surrounded by blooming plants, lush greenery, and pine trees.
Great elevation variety
One of my favorite foothill/mtn ciurses plus they have longboard lager on tap
This course is a welcome change from some of the "vanilla" courses in the valley.
Always enjoy playing here. There were 6 of us and we had a great time. Course was in great shape. #11 green was spotty but the rest were in good shape. Don't expect to shoot a good score unless you are -5 or under handicap, just enjoy the experience and the scenery.
Nature and golf...a wonderful combination!
The setting is breathtaking as this course is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Didn't notice a house or a car all day yet nature surrounded us on every hole. Lots of elevation change makes it very entertaining. Even the practice area is enjoyable with lots of options. Looking forward to visiting again!
Classic A\ple Mtn....
Golf Course in great shape, greens were a little long but still slippery, rough and wood areas cut and well manicured
