Great value
We got a last minute tee time on Golf Now for about $50 per person. it's a bit of a drive from Midtown but worth it when Bobby Jones costs about the same on a weekend. The course was basically well-kept and the greens were in good shape. Some local knowledge or a course book would have been helpful since the map on the score card required a magnifying glass to read. There were a few long par 4s and a 200+ yard par 3 (from the gold tees). Lots of doglegs. Super friendly staff. Good food and local craft brew at the grill room inside. I'll be back.
Great course, sucky maintenance staff
I have played this course about 8 times now. It never fails, every time I play here the mowers have no regard to the golfers. I sat on a tee box waiting for 10 minutes for the mower to finish mowing the rough directly in front of the tee boxs. I tried waving him down so he would see me, and he saw me but nonetheless, he continued mowing and never stoped. I have had multiple incounters with the maintenance staff here and it's never different. One round I was preparing to hit my approach shot from the fairway and the staff that was watering greens rolled up, hooked his hose up and just began watering the green...right in front of me. The manegment at summer grove needs to get on top of their maintenance staff and teach them some golf courtesy.
Fun Course
The range left a little to be desired. The ball machine was a little ride from the clubhouse so if you are playing for the first time remember to get a ticket before headed down. (Don't think cash/card was an option) The starter was extremely nice. He explained the shot needed on key holes. There are forced carries. There is one drivable Par 4 (If you can carry the ball 230ish). There are Par 5s that can be reached in 2. The course also has a few tiered greens where the level is key. I'd play this course again if given the opportunity.
Great course for the money!
This course has many things to offer. Friendly staff, a great driving range, and the course is decently priced. The course is well maintained and always in great condition. The only complaint I have is I got stuck behind a group of 5 players, which I don't know if it's allowed or not but in the back 9 they all linked up together and pace of play was very slow. I spent more time waiting to hit a shot than actually getting to play. But this only my second time playing this course and will be back to play again!
Summer Grove Newnan
The course was in good condition and the layout was interesting with plenty of challenges. The front side has a good bit of water and the backside is a bit more open. Worth the money and fun to play
Really Enjoyed playing this course!!!
Was my first time playing this course and I truly enjoyed it. It was in great shape, greens were plush and fast, fairways were well maintained, they were a little thick but it had been raining for 3 straight days. Only got to play the back 9 due to a Jr.'s tournament on the front 9, which crowded the back 9 pace, but everyone playing worked it out and we had no problems. This is a well maintained course and I highly recommend playing it and I will return again if they will have me!
long drive worth the trip
I drive all over Atlanta to play different golf courses....because I like the variety. I'll drive an hour to play something where I can get one of the first tea times, great deal, or to play something new. Been a few years since I played Summer Grove but loved the course. The course was in great shape. Lush fairways, firm greens that roll true, and great tee boxes. I love the layout of this course as it offers many challenges in one round. Several very scenic holes. I was paired with a twosome and we played 18 holes in right at 3 hours....would highly recommend giving this course a play. I'll drive back down for another go one of these days
Good Course for the Average Golfer
Fairways and greens are in good shape, even after days of heavy rain. Wide fairways with minimal hazards. Very forgiving for the average golfer. Scenery is pleasant for a residential course. Holiday weekend was busy but not crowded. Will be back.
5.5 hour round
Course was immaculate as always. Pace of play was completely unacceptable. For one of the. Over and pricier courses in the area they need to monitor the pace of play. 2 hours and fifty minutes on the front and a speedy 2 hours forty on the back. Definitely won't be back unless can be addressed.
Great course
A+ conditions
I've been playing Summer Grove for years and honestly, last weekend 5/13/2017 was probably the best conditions I've experienced there. The greens were immaculate; hats off to the staff, great work.
good course
Summergrove is a nice course. Good to play here for the money. Greens are in good shape. Will play here again!
Greens and fairways were in good condition. However the tee boxes were in bad shape. Lots of weeds and so hard you could barely set a tee.
Loved this course
Course was fun to play. The leaves on the course did make it challenging though. Will definitely be playing this course again. It is a hidden gem
Challenging course.
Convenient and good experience.
