The course has great greens that challenge you.
Loved the lay out and the grass in the fairways. Liked the hole placement on the greens also. You really had to read the greens to make the putts.
The only problem was the creek that runs across one of the fairways on the front nine that you can't see from the tee box or from your second shot.
Great course
Great course! Excellent conditions and great layout! Highly recommended.
Greens were very good
Course was in good overall shape and greens were excellent. Could have been a little faster but ran very true
Play early and the pace is great
Greens and fairways were in great shape!
Love playing this course. Lots of fun and challenging wholes. Also love the golf now app and it's Hot Deals!
Great Course
I really enjoyed this course. I thought it was very fair, and you didn't need to have played the course before in order to have a good time. I've played several courses around the Atlanta area, and this is one I would definitely play again.
Overall best course in the area
Summergrove is the best value in the area and is maintained as well as courses that cost significantly more. Challenging but fair, with plenty of holes to make you go "oh no" and breathers in between. No matter your skill level you still have to approach this course tactically rather than just trying to muscle your way though it. In better shape than Orchard Hills, cheaper than Arbor Springs and open to the public unlike White Oak. I'd recommend that anyone who moves to Newnan play here first.
great place - another jemsek gem
This is a great track that I thoroughly enjoy playing. It's in great shape. Greens are rolling good and true. Not real fast, but getting faster. Probably around 9 or so. But, smooth like glass. Only complaint is previous players. I must've fixed about 5 ball marks on every green. It's a shame that people who hit a decent shot on the green don't take the 10 seconds to fix their ball mark.
No one was out on the course on Mother's day, so pace of play was great - able to get around in under 3 hours.
This track was designed by legendary Chicago architect Joe Jemsek who designed Cog Hill Dubsdread (Site of the Western Open for years) and the famed Pine Valley in Mundelien, IL. This course holds up quality wise to both.
Plenty of tees for every ability, and the back tees aren't that bad topping out at 6900 or so. So, it's not a track that needs a lot of length, but definitely needs a lot of accuracy.
Sumemrgrove Special
The course was in excellent shape and the friendliness of the new ownership was visible through the staff.
Wet in Newnan
Paired up with some great guys. Pace of play was ok. Just under 5 hours. Held up on 10th tee by groups that were out of order due to spending to much time at the turn. No starter or staff to organize. All busy with Poker Tourney in Clubhouse. Course a little wet from recent rain. Fun course I would give another shot. Overall expected more with owner of Cog Hill (Chicago) involved.
In need of TLC
Very wet worst shape I've seen this course.
Fairways have 3 different types of grass growing. Lady in pro shop said the course was in great shape when I called. She said only a few holes were cart path only. When I got there an hour later I was told cart path only. Course needs some dry weather.
Greens
We just caught to tale end of them airating the greens, so they where bumpy and sandy. Wish they would have told us that at the front desk. But besides that the course is in good shape. I would give it a couple of weeks to grow back in
Excellent Course
Greens role really good, very challenging course. I will continue to play this course.
great value for the money
i was pleased with the shape of the course, since all the recent rains and play that it has received. the greens are scarred up, so check your line before putting.
One of best courses in Atlanta!!!!
Great course layout; love the food in clubhouse! Definitely worth the drive from Atlanta. One of the best kept secrets in this area.
Elevated Tees and Water Carries
Beautiful lake views and forest lined creeks wind their way around 11 holes on this fair and challenging Burton & Jemsek gem. Elevated tees reward straight drives and give the player a pleasant view of the well maintained grounds. The doglegs and forced carries make club selection paramount. While contoured greens guarded by lakes, creeks and bunkers challenge all facets of your game. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 1/2 hour round. I recommend this course to everyone and will return soon.
Summer Grove
I have played this course on many occasions and find it fair but challenging. The greens are fast and offer plenty of challenge. Fairways are ample and fair.
Great value for the money
Greens are large and true, have to hit shots in order to have a good score, just enough water to frustrate you and a enough dog legs to test your skills, Staff is always pleasant. We were a threesome, playing behind a 5some that would not let us through! Green number 15 is a real beast if you are on the wrong side of the pin!
Very nice
Overall this is a great course. Loved the greens. Rolled smooth and true. Some trick puts that you have to be creative to read. Only negative was the pace of play on the back 9. At one point there were 5 groups on one hole. Needed a Marshall to speed up play.
