Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

Treat of a Course
It's an expensive round of golf but well worth it. New carts, the course is in excellent condition, good pace of play compared to most every other public course I've played at this year and the rangers and course assistants were very friendly.
First time playing, will return
Played on a hot 90 degree June day...pace of play a little slow as we teed off behind two mixed foursomes. Pace of play picked up last 4 holes.
Layout of course great, condition good too. Played from Blue tees as was first time there and will move back a set of tees next time. Definitely one of the better public courses in Chicagoland area.
Overall a Greatime.
Having been around the golf industry for some time now, I have to say, this was the first course I have been to where the greens appear to be walk-mowed by hand; and it truly makes them look absolutely fantastic.
I think the only issue I really had with anything was that I made two separate orders from the beverage attendants throughout the round; I purchased the same thing both times, and each time I spent a slightly different price. I was not going to throw a fit over a few dollars or less, but come on—sort of tacky.
Wow!
The great thing about living in the Chicago area is that you can always find a new course to play. The quality of Prarie Landing from yee box to green makes this a course that we will come back to time and time again. Very generous fairways off the tee gives the average player the opportunity to hit there second shot from the fairway, even after going left or right of where he was aiming. The greens were in great shape. The ball rolls straight and true. Great course!
Great course!
Enjoyed the day. Several courses in the area were closed due to heavy rains the days preceding, but not Prairie Landing. Excellent design and a challenging test of game. Pace of play was great even with cart path only rules in place. Nothing but good things to say except I want another chance at it as my game was not in the best of shape that day. Will definitely be back sometime soon!
Staff was terrific and made you feel respected, welcome and was extremely courteous and attentive from the clubhouse staff to the course rangers. Great day, great course!
One of the beat values in the area.
Course is fantastic. Conditions were perfect. Bunkers actually have sand. Can be challenging when the wind picks up. Play the practice holes to get warmed up.
This course was in great condition.
The course was in great condition, the greens were quick and smooth. Will definitely be back again soon.
Great course.
Mostly links style course except for 2 or 3 holes on the back 9 where trees can come into play if you miss the fairway on your tee shot. A few water holes, but if you're a beginner there are forward tee boxes that can eliminate some of the water, but there still are a couple of holes you must hit over water to reach the greens. The course was in great shape. Because of several mounds, if you're not familiar with the layout you at times cannot see the greens. I would also bring an extra sleeve of balls because of the water and some tall grass off the fairways in some places. I would recommend riding in one of their new electric carts that have GPS in them. Some of the distance between greens and the next tee boxes are rather long. Plus with the rolling mounds you would get quite a workout if you walked.
Great Layout, Beautiful Scenery, Friendly Staff
I can't believe this first time playing here. What a great course! First-Class, all the way. From the gracious hospitality to the well-manicured and challenging layout, this is a real gem. Will be returning soon!
Great course
This was the first time I played in this course, I had a wonderful time. The course is great for all levels of golfer. The golden/blue combined tee is perfect for us. Staff is very friendly too. Will go back again.
Links style course
First time to play all 18 holes. Tee boxes looked like they were recently aerated and they felt spongy. Fairways are very wide. Bunkers are well placed and the sand was good. Many holes with water hazards. One of the par 3's you had to hit your ball over a wide expanse of water. The greens were fast with many undulations. Thank goodness they had direction signs on the cart paths, otherwise I would have gotten lost in many cases finding the next tee box. For the Hot Deal price I had I would definitely go back. They also had brand new electric golf carts with GPS. All staff people I met were very courteous.
top rated conditions
This is the best conditioned course we play each year in Northern Illinois. Layout is great and the staff is exceptional. Got to play on an unbelievably low Hot Deal.
Great track... course management is key for scoring here
Everything was great about my experience. I play a lot of golf and know when a course is well cared for and its management is on top of their sh**. Greens are a little choppy but that’s because the time of year and people not fixing their ball marks but overall fun course and challenging. Don’t need to be a long hitter for this course just need always be setting yourself up for you’re next shot. Ill be back soon..... oh yeah and if it’s windy, goodluck on some of the par 3s if it’s into you and you play from the tips. I almost debated on hitting driver at one point. Enjoy it.
One of the Best in the Burbs
One of my favorites in the western suburbs. Staff is always welcoming and accommodating, great amenities, range, food, etc. If you haven't played Prairie Landing, add it to your "must" list this year.
True links style
This is the only true links style type golf course in the Chicago area that I know of. The front 9 is brilliant and the back 9, although not as great as the front, it does not disappoint. 18 is a fantastic risk reward finishing hole. The thought that went into the undulations on and around the greens create so many creative options. Snagged a hot deal at $18 walking and the course was in good condition considering it’s early in the year. Greens were a bit rugged but again to be expected in April. Must play golf course for that rate. I know this course’s rate is around $80 during prime time weekends over the summer, I believe that’s a bit high and would like to see it around $50-$60. Prob not worth playing at $80. I’m all about value though. I would highly recommend this golf course. Such a fantastic layout, and is easily a top 10 track in Chicago. If you can get a good rate then go play it! Now!
Recommend this course
Usually play lot a golf course around Chicago area. But this course really nice. course design is beautiful. Some bunker and water and up and down hill. my wife and me feel samething, awesome. But it's not easy course.I want a recommed this course.
Early season gem
Course is in very good shape considering the brutal weather thus far this spring...staff was very friendly and accommodating, even got me out as a single ahead of a larger group...love this course and layout, will be back in the summer when everything is green again!
