Prairie Landing
About
Prairie Landing Golf Club has received acclaim ever since first opening in 1995, including a four-and-a-half-star rating from Golf Digest. This West Chicago course will make you feel as though you've been transported to a seaside links course in Ireland. The prairie-style layout closely follows the tradition of classic links golf courses. Robert Trent Jones II designed the course, fully utilizing the rolling terrain. He incorporated large, undulating greens and rolling bent grass fairways. Vast swaths of native grasses stretch along the fairways and strategically placed bunkers frame the greens. There is also contoured mounding to contend with. The golf course finishes with a memorable par 5 that features fairway bunkers on the left followed by a carry over a lake to a well protected, high bowled green. Prairie Landing also boasts a practice facility that includes a driving range with target greens, four practice holes, and a nine-hole chipping and short-game area.

Wow!
First time playing here. I will be back. Loved the layout. Best greens I've played in the area. Smooth and true. I'll be back. Worth every penny.
I love hot deals
We got this as a hot deal basically 50% off. Great deal
Excellent layout
A few weeds invading tee boxes so I'll say conditions are good
Many tee boxes to play from
Love the practice holes
Where is the bar??? Only a few tables to add up scores and pay your bets while having a beer. A venue of this caliber needs a classy bar
TOP 10 PUBLIC IN ILLINOIS BAR NONE
I've played Prairie Landing quite often the past few years. Why? Because it's just that awesome, several legit risk rewards holes. The entire course is always in top notch shape. Layout is just fantastic, open fairways so you can let loose, but there are fairway bunkers strageically placed to catch wayward tee shots. Greens were running almost at 11, possibly because there hasn't been much rain. I try my best to stay away from the weekends at any course but had to play last Saturday, tee time was at 1:30pm. My buddy and I played as a twosome and ran into a foursome on the 3rd hole, which is a par 3. They graciously let us through which is exactly what course etiquette means. After letting us through that hole I couldn't believe that we didn't get stopped until 17. My friend's and I play lightening fast and was so impressed with the pace of play on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. In closing Prairie Landing is a top 10 public course in Illinois, at the very least a top 10 in Chicago land. Keep it up Prairie Landing because you guys know what you're doing, love that you keep up this track in tip top shape. Well done, very well done.
Much Improved
Have not Golfed here in years, everything was starting to go down hill. But decided to try it again and was surprised by all the improvements, Cart paths finally redone and there were maintenance workers everywhere working on something on almost every hole. Course conditions are very good and every hole was a challenge which made it very fun, plus the pace of play went very quickly.
Great Course
Outstanding. Got a great deal on GolfNow for a Saturday. The course was in great condition. The greens were fast and in great shape. Love the layout. The blue/gold hybrid tees was great for our foursome. Would highly recommend.
This is not a fair Review
This is only the second time I've played the course and both times the weather was bad. This last play the temp came down to low 40 and very windy so it was hard to really judge the course.
Over all, it plays like a links course with a lot of undulation. Most times I couldn't even see the green on my second shot. Make you really think about how to play and not just hitting the ball willy nilly.
A really great course if you can afford it.
All around satisfied
This course has it all. Some holes are tough and some holes are great for scoring. Greens run true! You will have a wonderful time playing Prairie Landing!
Course good-Personnel Not so
Course was in good shape outside of a few soggy spots. Played in 4hrs on Monday afternoon, which is ok. Coulda been better.
Personnel...
Cart girl available only until noon.
No drinkable water buckets.
Halfway house closed.
No warnings about any of this.
When I made it to Pro Shop afterwards to hydrate, I asked him about the lack of above mentioned amenities. His response... Meh!
Just don't care...
Excellent Shape overall
Course is in great shape. Only negative to the round was holes 5 and 6 being closed for the needs of DuPage Airport (they were scheduled to be re-opened in a couple of days).
Great Course
I love Robert Trent Jones courses and this one ranks up there with the best local ones. The fairways are open, the greens are huge with lots of undulations and they rolled great for so early in the year.We had a steady 20-25 mile per hour so it felt a little like playing in Scotland on a links course. Great Golf Now deal made it even better. Definitely play it more this summer.
Spring price for good course
This is a challenging course, especially in the Spring Wind. Course in good shape and Pin placement very fair. As may be typical this time of year no beverage cart and halfway house not open and pub on the course closed very early.
Great test of golf
Even with the 20 mph wind still a great course where U will need every shot in ur bag. Greens were good expect to be better in a few weeks will definitely be back
Hilly Links
This course has the terrain changes and exotic look of a links course. It is target golf because of the tight and short layout. Bring Golf Balls because due to the nature of links courses, if you can't hit it on target, you will have a challenging day. This course is a gem among many courses because of the true terrain changes, crazy outside of hole rough landscape and Quick greens. I played this course in March, first weekend open.
Great overall layout, always in great condition. Somewhat challenging.
Hidden gym
I've played a lot of golf course's but this one ranks at the top of my list. I love everything about the layout of this course, it was my first time playing here and it will not be my last.
tricky fairways and fast greens
The course is a beautiful layout. Club drop is at top of stairs. Carts are below. Our clubs "disappeared" while in the pro shop. A hustling employee had taken them down to the carts and mixed them up with two other sets of clubs on the carts. That process could have been better organized. Other than that the staff is friendly and very helpful. The layout is scenic. My only real complaint is the fairways give you some odd bounces. A ball hit perfectly down the middle may carom out of bounds. This is a hilly links style course so there few flat spots. Often leave the driver in the bag and hit a fairway wood or long iron. It's worth giving up a little distance to keep the ball in play. The greens are fast but true. The traps are good fluffy sand that you can get out of with a decent sand game. Traps on on some area courses are poorly maintained - at Prarie Landing they are top notch like Cog hill #4.
Poor Pace of Play
Friday afternoon and a five hour round, expected a better pace. I believe the course advises you that the pace of play is 4.5 hours which in my opinion is long. They had rangers on course, but we continued to wait on most shots. I like the course just not the pace.
Totally agree. It's quite strange that the "bar" is almost inaccessible with a limited menu of drinks. It's pretty much the only reason me and my friends don't do big gatherings here. Great course, though.
