Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course

We arrived about an hour and a half before our tee time, so we decided to have lunch first. Best cheeseburger and onion rings I’ve had in a long time! Golf was fine - a little slow pace with 5! people playing in front of us. It’s a long, challenging course that I would easily play again.

Everything about the course was good to very good.

We got a $$ deal through golfnow which made it attainable. The normal price $$$$ was out of my range.

So golfnow made it happen. Seems most of the golf courses have doubled or tripled their price since the pandemic.

That's just my thoughts on it anyway.

Place was beautiful. Amazingly maintained. The only thing that bothered me was that “some” of the golf carts weren’t wired correctly. So even though they had the 90 rule in effect, our carts would still shut off in the middle of the fairway going toward our ball. Not a deal breaker, I’d still go back but that’s just being nit picky.

Staff are very friendly and course is in amazing shape. We played all week in Houston area and this course was our favourite. The last 4 holes there was a lot of waiting but the pace on the first 14 was really good.

Would definitely play again.

Practice areas of range and short game were closed. This should be disclosed at booking. Or allow use of member areas.

Also, a single was allowed out in front of us as we were about to tee off - his time was an hour later. We waited on him on most holes.

First 15 holes played at good pace. Last 3 holes took an hour + with 15 waiting on every tee box. Needed marshal to keep things moving.

We were behind a 4some and it took us 3 hours to finish first 9 holes. The pace was so slow and frustrating.

Took 3 hours to play the front and 2.5 on the back due to a scramble. It was a whip but what a gorgeous course! Outstanding shape! Perfect greens.

The Tournament Course was in excellent shape from tee to green. Loved the course.

Unfortunately our 2:00pm tee time was right behind a 1:30pm mini-tournament and the pace of play was horrendously slow! It took us 3 hours to finish the front 9 and 5 1/2 hours overall. We "finished" the 18th hole in the dark and really could not see our shots.

No complaints about the course, but wish they had been more up-front about the slow tournament and done a better job of managing the pace of play around the course.
