Harding - Griffith Park
Overall the experience was great. Would have preferred a starter to be present to guide the groups on the 1st tee to speed up play. Other than that, a great time.
Thought I’d try again…MISTAKE!
Well, it’s been several months or so since my last visit to Griffith Park courses.
I should have listened to that little voice in my head saying…No, stay away! You’ll regret it! Don’t do it!
That ever happen to you; did you ever listen to your inner voice and was glad you did? Well, I did not listen. The result was a 3+ hour front-nine, yikes! Nough said!
If you are a 12 or so better handicap and you enjoy playing at a fair to good pace of play, STAY AWAY FROM GRIFFITH PARK GOLF COURSES!
It’s as simple as that.
P.S. start listening to your inner voice more; you’ll be glad you did.
Great deal for this course.
Decided to play last minute and was very happy with the rate we got.
Starter and I had issues
I played 3/16/15 at 1:24 PM I went as a single on a hot deal for $23 since I was a single it was possible they might ask me for four dollars more for the golf cart and it also stated that on my confirmation but when I got to the course I went to pay and the starter found out I was a single he charge me an additional $12 so $16total I had to pay for the cart on my confirmation and stated I only had to pay four dollars The starter told me no it's $16. He also said they didn't write even though I was on my confirmation
Horrible
Our tee time was for1:54pm not 2:45pm. That was the approximate tee off time was. So our group decided to get our money back and go to another course. The Marshall should be making sure golfers are playing and not hitting 3 tee off balls. If you want to practice, go to the driving range.
Got lucky with pace of play
Can tell that this course gets a ton of traffic. Fairly easy layout, fun course
We Got Wet!
Very very slow and crowded, even though the group that was supposed to be in front of us was a no-show.
Saw some pretty rude people (and not your typical white male over aggressive types either) yelling from Tee 1 while other folks were Teeing off, and also blocking the bag drop area while talking on their cell. Neither English nor Spanish were the language choice of the day.
Rain arrived somewhat heavy at 15, as it began to get dark - so we bailed.
Watch out for the Coyote guarding the snack shack.
nice course but.
Pro shop starter employees are very unfriendly. And i think they should improve the green condition
Greens were quicker than normally.
I play here alot as its close to home, the greens are normally slow but not this day, a pleasant surprise, I like Harding, the staff are nice, always a fun day.
N/A
Great course to play. Will recommend to my friends.
Slow and easy
TeeTime was already delayed by more than 20 min. A lot of waiting time lead to a rush to finish before complete darkness and a twosome behind that hit balls directly to us.
Greens ok but lots of pitch marks. Fairways in very average condition.
Good Course but not worth the drive unless you're a local
The Course could be better but after more than 3 weeks when the greens were aerated, the greens are still bumpy and sandy. Very poor course conditions as is with all LA county courses. Lots of areas of the fairway seemed to be over-watered by the looks of the mud puddles and the tire tracks of golf carts running over those areas. I thought Los Angeles is in a drought, I could be wrong ( sarcasm ).
Those are not even the worst parts. Everytime I go and play there the starters/shop workers are just the rudest and most unprofessional individuals I've ever encountered at any golf course. Its a wonder anyone goes back at all. The only times I go there is because friends of mine want to play there because trust me, I DON"T.
Overall, If you want to deal with rude starters, poor course conditions due to bad management and semi-par food at the 19th hole this is the place for you.

Similar to the Wilson course, Harding could be a "gem" if simply maintained and groomed. Consequently, due to a lack of a little TLC the course is and becoming more ragged. The T Boxes are ok, fairways are very patchy, bumpy and un-kept.
Overall, the layout is right in front of you. No real trouble to speak of...no water except one hole, no fairway bunkers nor hazards or OB to worry you. The course's main defense is heavy tree lines along the fairways. So, hit it in the fairway and your 2nd shots into the greens are key to descent scoring. Oh the greens are very bumpy, deceased and are like putty on an upside-down salad bowl. The greens have no real flat areas. Good luck!
Oh, pace of play can be brutally maddening along with lack of etiquette (folks jump holes a lot right in your face) a sign of poor upbringing.
If you can find a GNow deal for under $30 bucks go for it - not worth their usual asking price.
Do not go to any City of LA course until GOLFNOW scheduling gets fixed
Had a 12:24 Tee time. Tee'd off at 1:10 pm.
Had three to four groups on every tee through 9 holes. It took 3 hours 10 mins to play 9 holes + the 50 min delay to start. It took 4 HOURS to play 9 holes. City of LA need to get their shop in order or the GOLFNOW experiment will cause even more damage to the CIty of LA Golf Budget. Rounds are down and this will cause them to go down even more.
Nice Greens at Harding! Keep the LA City courses on GOLFNOW!
Greens are rolling quick and true at Harding. Yes, Harding! Try to get out there before the upcoming aeration and you won't be disappointed. Fairways were just Harding (rough spots, mud spots, small holes for your ball to settle in), tee boxes were OK. Yet, my only disappointment for the day was having a conversation with the starter about these AWESOME Golfnow deals. I told him how I noticed they had started putting times on there a few months ago, and how happy I was about the great deal. He told me not to get too happy because they should stop using Golfnow around October of this year. Why? He said, "well if you like the price, you won't like the fact that you're round will take so long... it's too much work for us... it takes up the times we normally save for walk-ups and waiting lists..." This was confusing to me, as I haven't seen more than 1-2 times per day per each city course, and they're always in the mid-afternoon. After getting so excited that the City courses were finally offering Hot Deals, my enthusiasm has been tempered by what the City course starters think about it, at least the ones at Griffith Park.
Good course to play golf
I like the Harding Golf Course. It´s always a good competition and the course is in really good shape. I´ll come back. :-)
