Sanctuary Golf Club

Played Sanctuary Cove about 6 years ago. Played there this past week and you would not believe what has been done!!! Went into clubhouse and sat by the fire since it was 49* and raining to decide if we should try and play. Golf Professional offered us a cup of coffee and off we went.

This golf course is excellent! We are coming back ASAP!

Greeting in clubhouse terrible. Not friendly. Very poor rental clubs.

Sanctuary Cove has upped their game, so you better up yours. Improvements are easy to spot facility wide. Course conditioning is a top priority and it shows. Great value for your golf dollar. Good location too.

New ownership took over Sanctuary GC on January 1, 2017. In the last 4 years dramatic changes have taken place making this a "MUST PLAY" course.

Also in the process of building a short game area, featuring a practice bunker and green, room to practice 30-50 yards shorts and a another practice putting green.

Another great golf course by DLIII design. Wonderful layout that has views of the bay on several holes. His designs have transitioned to a geometric, golden age, Seth Raynor look and I really enjoy them. Conditions tee to green were perfect! The rates appear to have been significantly raised, but it was worth it to play a course of this caliber and condition.

Many modern golf courses suffer because they seem to have been built in willful ignorance of history. Sanctuary Golf Club (formerly Sanctuary Cove) is a rare blend of modern land-planning and classical respect for golf course craft.

The course was conceived as a real estate play at precisely the wrong time - right before the late-2000s recession - and struggled for years. Now under new ownership and benefiting from better economic times, it appears to be finally hitting its stride. Rounds are trending upward, and the design, inspired by both Donald Ross and Seth Raynor in places, is in very good shape. Still, though, the course is a relative bargain. Play it if you're hauling up or down I-95 and/or as an add-on to a trip to Sea Island or Jekyll Island. You'll love the low-key feel and considerable bang for your buck.

Played the front 9 today and was pleasantly surprised at the shaowbthe course was in. I’d heard it had gotten a lot better and it was verified today. The greens were a little slow but soft and easy to spin on. The tee boxes are in excellent shape and the fairways are good as well. Bunkers had plenty of and in them and the fringe was puttable. Overall I can’t wait to get a full round in.
