Great course.

Played Belmont Lakes for my 4th time, I believe. It's a full hour's drive from my home but I like it enough to make that trip every so often.

I'd played during the summer when the bent grass greens were suffering terribly. Predictably, they're back to being healthy again. Some spotting here and there but overall very healthy, they putt very true and with reasonable speed. I prefer faster greens but I wouldn't at all term Belmont Lakes' greens as slow as they certainly are not. Faster than average, for sure.

Tee-boxes, fairways and rough were all in great shape. The dormant grass actually provides a nice surface from which to hit. Course was wet in spots so rollout was at a minimum, played longer, nice challenge.

Open, inviting fairways but placement is still pretty important. Nice variety to hole design, fantastic layout, flows very well. In all seasons save for summer, it's a must-play for me.

Nice course with a great staff

This is a very nice course with a great staff. My wife and I have played this course before and have always enjoyed it. The course is fairly easy with some (but not much) trouble; this is a very nice course for all levels. They have 5 sets of tees from which to choose so everyone can play and shoot a decent score. The fairways are fairly wide and very forgiving of an errant shot. They are in great shape as are the tee boxes. The greens were a different story the day we played. They had been aerated and sanded. The pro shop did tell us and offered a discount to play. We accepted and played anyway. The sand was really heavy on some greens and they were almost unplayable. They also had a couple of temp greens set up. Regardless, we will play this course again and I would recommend it.

Great for ego

Wide open fairways so let the driver loose.

From tee to green the course was in good condition but the bent grass greens are taking a beating in the heat. Very thin greens with bare spots getting worse.

Don't even think about walking- nice rides through the trees from green to tee but it would be a long walk.

Played in well under 4 hours.

If greens survive it's an easy course

Great Course

My wife and I played this course while visiting Rocky Mount. We only had the time to play 9 holes, but it was great.

We had trouble finding the course using the car's GPS. We called, and they gave us an address to plug in which worked. (Apparently the course is renamed under new ownership, but GPS had not caught up yet.) We arrived just in time for our tee time, so we sacrificed warming up so as to not upset their schedule. (There was a range and a putting green which we did not use.) We went straight to the first and began the round.

The course winds through a nice neighborhood, though there are not many houses actually on the course. The holes are spread out so that you can not see another hole, or another group, while playing. It's a very nice feeling of solitude. The fairways were very green and in good condition. The greens had been aerated sometime ago; you could still see the small holes. But, there were fast and rolled very true. There were some undulations; but overall, the greens were flat and level.

The tee boxes were in good shape with 5 tees to choose from. Beware that hole number 9 does not bring you back to the clubhouse; we had to 'ride' the remaining 9 holes to get back. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. We did not have lunch, but he restaurant looked very upscale. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to our next round at Belmont Lakes.

Good despite the rain

In good shape, even after three days of rain. Ample fairways and interesting greens with a nice mix of long short and water. We would return.

Great condition, very open, and excellent greens

One of the best courses I've played. I'm a weekend golfer that enjoys playing at nicer courses with excellent fairways and greens with smooth cart paths. This course has all 3! A+

Excellent Greens

Very fun layout. Played from blue tees.....6500 yds.
Long par 3's, long and short par 4's, moderate length par 5's. Greens in excellent shape. Other than a few collars and areas in the fairways, the course was spared the "winter kill" many other Triangle area courses experienced. Course does not return to clubhouse after #9 but there are drink machines available in 2 locations. Will play again when temp. drops a few degrees.

Rocky Mount Secret Oasis

What a find and well worth the hour drive from the Triangle area.

Friendly Staff, Great Layout, Perfect Greens!!!! A little winter burn in the fairways and rough, but by far much better than the other courses I've played in the last month.

The fairways are generous, but there are many doglegs that have well placed bunkers on the corner creating a risk-reward opportunity. Take on the bunker and have a shorter approach or play safe and have a mid to long iron.

Did I say the greens were perfect? Well I'll say it again!! Subtle slopes on the greens makes it challenging to keep your approach shots in the correct position below the hole.

I will be back soon.
