About
Callahan Golf Links in Waleska possesses a rich history of more than 150 years of farming and family ownership. Before being converted into a golf course, the site functioned as a farm from the Civil War until World War II. When creating the course, the natural beauty of the landscape was carefully preserved. As its name would suggest, the layout is a true links design with carefully placed pot bunkers and thick cuts of rough. Water is barely present but there are plenty of other challenges throughout that will quickly make you forget that fact. It is gentle enough for beginners but the back tees will challenge more experienced players. Golfers can also work on their short game on the chipping and putting greens or warm up on the driving range. The affordable rates make Callahan Golf Links an excellent value.

Simple Local course
Consistent fun local course. Greens and course is always in good shape, Never had an issue here
Great then awful
I first played the course on Tuesday and it was excellent. The course has enough challenges, but is fun. The pace was amazing as I played 18 in just over 3 hours. It was so good I decided to go back on Thursday…bad idea.
The first three holes were VERY slow, but the course was in good shape. I had to wait several minutes before each shot. When I arrived at the 4th tee, the group in front of me had still not hit their drives, and the group in the fairway in front of them was also waiting on somebody in front of them. After waiting several minutes, I decided to give it up. I had just played 3 holes in 55 minutes when I decided I would prefer to lose money than spend 5.5 hours out there.
Crazy part was, the course was mostly empty, but 1 group was stopping 6 groups (two in front of me, and three that were getting stuck behind me) that had gotten clogged up behind them. I’m not sure if a Marshall could have helped, but they certainly couldn’t have hurt.
Terrible conditions
The greens were the longest I’ve ever seen. Looked like they hadn’t been mowed in a few days. Bad patches all over greens and tee boxes. For $25 maybe not $40
Ladies threesome
Ladies threesome- three of us ladies played for the first time there today. One of the ladies had your course be her inaugural game of 18 holes. The course was not hard to navigate at all, the ladies tee boxes were well groomed and clearly marked. The greens were awesome too. There was a lot of walking back & forth looking for the ball that rolled into or landed in the first cut of the fringe by the fairway so guessing we need to get better at staying in the middle, but all in all we mustered well and had fun. Wish we had taken photos.

This course needs 150 yd poles or distinctive markers!!!!!
The course is always fun to play. Good mix of challenging and easy holes.
Greens rolled well, but were slower than normal due to recent aerification.
Several tee boxes were in abysmal condition.
A course employee was giving a lesson to a player on the 13th hole...inappropriate.
Not as good as it used to be
We have played Calahan's many times over the years and this recent round was the least enjoyable. The course was in the worst condition we had ever seen it. It also would have been nice to have had a heads up that the greens had been punched.
