Callahan Golf Links
About
Callahan Golf Links in Waleska possesses a rich history of more than 150 years of farming and family ownership. Before being converted into a golf course, the site functioned as a farm from the Civil War until World War II. When creating the course, the natural beauty of the landscape was carefully preserved. As its name would suggest, the layout is a true links design with carefully placed pot bunkers and thick cuts of rough. Water is barely present but there are plenty of other challenges throughout that will quickly make you forget that fact. It is gentle enough for beginners but the back tees will challenge more experienced players. Golfers can also work on their short game on the chipping and putting greens or warm up on the driving range. The affordable rates make Callahan Golf Links an excellent value.

Not as good as it used to be
We have played Calahan's many times over the years and this recent round was the least enjoyable. The course was in the worst condition we had ever seen it. It also would have been nice to have had a heads up that the greens had been punched.
Nice open course
Good condition and location. Need to work on pace of players but overall enjoy the course and recommend to others.
The course under repo
Did not realize I had to play the front 9 twice the back nine was under repair. Other than that not a bad course .
Fun time ,but sadly couldn’t finish before Sunday due to slow groups ahead.
Good Value
This course is a good value for the money. Friendly staff and a good layout. Greens need some love and the marshall needs to watch the pace of play. We were a foursome and there was a group of 3 in front of us that had everyone held up. We had to wait on basically every shot. This not only impacted us but the foursome behind us as well. The marshall came by us several times but to my knowledge he never said anything to the 3 person group that was holding everyone up.
9/6/22
Only paying $19 for my round I am not too disappointed however I will say this course is in very rough shape. A couple greens have GUR and some of the tee boxes are near dead. The first green was super fuzzy but most of the others were a little better but I quit putting after the 8th hole or so.
Pace was fine as no one was really out there but they definitely need to invest in the course a bit more.
I doubt I would play again there even for $19.
Surprisingly Fun
This is a nice course. No that long but challenging. For every skill level.
Great place!
Great place to play! Does not cost to much for a round of golf. Will be back almost every week
Greens are in poor condition
The driving range was closed when I got there. Might be nice if they put that on their website. The course is getting a bit rough around the edges especially the tee boxes and greens. Not a lot of fun when you are putting over dirt and infestation but the course is probably doing it’s best.Don’t like the red and black pin flags as you can’t tell what position the holes are located especially on up hill shots.
Will give this place rest and-a chance to get better as it is a nice place to play when it’s in good shape
Golf on 8-17-22
Course was in great shape but greens need some TLC. Most had some dead spots an some had large areas of issues.
Not in the best shape
Fairways were in good shape but most of the tee boxes and greens need a lot of attention. lots of weeds and crabgrass on the greens and looks like most of the greens have a lot of bare spots. That teeboxes I also need attention.Driving range was close.Pace of play was fine and the ground keepers are doing their best but course is very dry
First time my son broke 80
Nice change to all the hilly courses in the area and some really nice holes. Greens were plain lousy and incredibly slow, but I know it costs a lot to keep greens in okay condition.
That said I really like that it was not gimmicky and pretty much what you saw is what it was.
My son (19) and I went out late afternoon this past Sunday and paired up with two singles that were gems to play with and play it regularly.
First tee at 3:15 was crowded and thought we were in for a 5+ hour round and finished in 4:05 which itself was awesome
I played to my handicap and my son broke 80 for the first time with a double bogey on 18 to fire 79. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time at Callahan.
Great way to end a summer full of golf for the two of us before heading back to college
