Callahan Golf Links
About
Callahan Golf Links in Waleska possesses a rich history of more than 150 years of farming and family ownership. Before being converted into a golf course, the site functioned as a farm from the Civil War until World War II. When creating the course, the natural beauty of the landscape was carefully preserved. As its name would suggest, the layout is a true links design with carefully placed pot bunkers and thick cuts of rough. Water is barely present but there are plenty of other challenges throughout that will quickly make you forget that fact. It is gentle enough for beginners but the back tees will challenge more experienced players. Golfers can also work on their short game on the chipping and putting greens or warm up on the driving range. The affordable rates make Callahan Golf Links an excellent value.

Course conditions
Callahan course conditions were almost great. One green(#13 I think) had some wash out areas on upper portion of green. Other than that almost perfect. If it is your first time playing there, hopefully you'll be paired up with someone to help you get around the course.
Just OK.
I have played here for years and it really hasn’t changed much. There are no amenities to speak of. No bathrooms on the course. No water coolers on the course. Usually no water/ soap in the ball washers. The course layout is good but you’re rarely hitting off actual grass. The employees can be hit or miss on friendliness and you may or may not see a bev cart during your round. The biggest change I have seen is the price of a round here. It’s gone up considerably. We play here because it’s close to home but wouldn’t be my first choice unfortunately.
No frills, Just Golf
No fancy clubhouse just golf. Despite the weeks long drought and soaring temps I was impressed with the lush greens. Course was in good condition and the layout I found fun and challenging. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Downsides:
1. Pace of play. No marshal to get people moving or allow others to play through.
2. No toilet facilities on the course aside from one porta-potty I saw.
3. People who won't repair they're pitch-marks. (Universal problem, not just here)
Given the above I would recommend and play again.
Amazing for the price
Pretty course with decent layout, only complain is there are no actual bathrooms on the course
Bad conditions and NO WATER COOLERS
Course is in poor conditions with most of the Tee boxes ineeding major repair. some of the greens are nearly unplayable and the rest have a lot of sand on them. Probably the worst conditions I’ve ever seen at this course. Most of the bunkers were in poor condition but the major issue is no water coolers placed around the golf course. no card person supplying any liquid refreshment all day and it was probably in the low to mid 90s. I don’t know who made a decision to take the coolers off this course but that is a very poor decision. Pace of play for a Monday morning was slow but no marshals on the golf course. This place is never in the best condition in the summer but this is probably the worst I’ve ever seen it.. Will probably wait until September to try and play there again
Better value than others in the area
Good value compared to local competitors. There are a few rough spots but those are the healthiest bent grass greens I've seen in GA in a long time. They do have an etiquette problem however. My twosome fixed 6-7 nasty (FRESH) ball marks on every hole. I suspect all the old codgers we saw who were playing speed golf and pressuring other groups. Those greens will never stay nice if that keeps up.
Caneman1958
Course was in really good shape, only 1 green in bad shape, 13, 1 tee box needs attention, but course overall was was good, tough layout, big difference from blue tees to white tees, tough course from blues.
In general, the greens are improved and rolling better than the last few times I've played Callahan. One green, I think #13, is very poor.
The ground crews place the tee markers in areas of the boxes that are bare; they need to understand that grass needs a break from continual wear/tear to be healthy.
It's a relatively cheap course, it's a decent routing, and today, the pace was good.
Fun course
Fun course. Lots of interesting holes. Whites play siper short so if you trying to decide between blue and white tees, I suggest going with blues. Greens were fine even though the website warned they were burned up a bit. T boxes definitely need some attention . Starter was super nice and got us out early to get in front of a group of 9. Overall the “links” name checks out. Definitely not your traditional course but still fun and challenging. For tge cost, it’s a great value.
Course
About four holes are cart path only. Couple of greens have missing grass on parts of them. Greens are rolling good. Play with someone that has played there before to help you navigate the course. Played the course many times.
Great Value
Perfect course if you are looking for a laid back round without breaking the bank. Thoroughly enjoyed our round. Will be back again
