Echelon Golf Club

Have wanted to play Echelon for a long time and got a Sunday twilight time with 3 friends. Many more positives than negatives but I will include both.

Conditions were really good aside from the greens being just a little too long. They were a bit hairy but I didn’t see one bald patch on any of the greens so I can see the benefit. Greens rolled pure, they were just slower than expected for a course so manicured everywhere else. Bunkers were in good condition even after raining some the morning before we played. Tee boxes were immaculate, definitely the best I have seen.

The clubhouse is very nice with a bar and modern pro-shop. The Echelon golf bags and putter covers were awesome but not worth the asking price. Staff were super friendly and patient since one of my friends arrived late. No beverage cart would be the only negative when it comes to hospitality.

Secluded practice area was cool but a little hard to find. The entire layout can be a little confusing as a first timer but there are signs posted with directions.

Overall, this is the best public course I have played in GA so far. The layout, conditions and hospitality are hard to match from what I have seen. If you haven’t played here, do yourself a favor and try it out. You won’t regret it.

restaurant or food which was unfortunate, but the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Echelon is a solid track. The layout is great, except for 2 or 3 holes, which are too severely uphill for their length. The condition is excellent, except for several bunkers that are without sand and are showing severe erosion. I notice they've switched to bermuda greens, which are much slower than their original bent. The staff is friendly and courteous. The driving range was closed for maintenance when we were their.

You cannot walk this course. I mean, I guess they'd let you, but you'd need to be a mountain goat.

If you play this course, be forewarned that the hilly terrain makes it play longer than the carded yardage. Play up one tee box and you'll be fine.

The course outside of the greens was excellent. The greens, normally fast, were relatively slow as I believe they were letting them grow to maintain them. The issue I had was the surprising number of unrepaired ball marks and the scars from unrepaired ball marks.

Always a good test. Playing from the blues is long enough. Bring your A game if you want to score on this course.

The young man who helped us with our bag was great and the lady on the beverage cart was very nice. The gentleman in the pro shop, the starter, and the ranger were absolutely brutal. We played the front 9 in 1 hour 55 minutes and were told twice that we needed to “pick it up” despite no one being behind us. The second 9 was no different and it definitely affected our experience negatively. At this price point ($120 pp) I would suggest looking elsewhere. The course, itself, is very nice and challenging.
