Heron Bay Golf & Country Club

This course was quite enjoyable. The tee boxes and fairways were well kept. The greens were fast, but rolled true and were fair. Generally the fairways were quite wide which helped to make a more enjoyable round. If not such a drive from North Atlanta I would consider playing there more often.

This course and Crystal lake are very average golf courses that were redeemed by their affordable prices. Suddenly, due to COVID, everyone and their uncle is an avid golfer. Ownership responds by jacking up prices to take advantage of the situation. This is not a $50+ course; it’s a $35 course on a good day. Obviously some suckers out there are willing to pay these inflated greens fees, but I’m just not sure why. Fairways are patchy and you’re often penalized for hitting a good drive by having your ball sitting on bare earth. Bunkers are hard and are not tended to correctly. Greens are receptive but the clientele who plays this course are apparently not keen to repair their ball marks. Tee boxes are hit or miss depending on the hole. Pace of play is MISERABLE most days and you pretty much always have someone right behind because they don’t realize there is a fivesome in front of you. Where is the marshal? A $50+ course should have a marshal. Your repeat customers will remember you using a pandemic as a means to make an extra dollar. Not a good look.

I had never played this course and heard it was pretty difficult, but fun to play. To start, the young lady in the club house that checked me in didn't say a single word to me other than the price of 3 golfers. The carts were trash and the brakes on both barely worked after stomping on them 5-10 times. The bunkers were absolutely horrible and probably weren't tended to since before the quarantine started. The pace of play was extremely slow, it would have been helpful to have a Marshall on the weekends. Definitely expected more out of a round of golf when you pay what you do to play here.

Course plays 7000+ from the tips. Challenging course with great views and fast greens. Some tricky tee shots and must hit fairways to score. GIR is also crucial as the greens are hard and fast.....1 putts were hard to be had. Great value and will play again!

I read numerous above average reviews on this course so I decided to dive the 1 hour and 15 minutes to play. Weather was great and teed off on time. Unfortunately, there was a 5-some in front of our group that backed up the course all day. They finally let us play though on 12 and we didn’t see the group in front of them until hole 17. Didn’t see a Marshall on the course. Unfortunately, with the slow play our group got hit into on the fairway of par 5 9th.

Other than the greens, the course conditions were poor, especially on tee boxes and around the greens with a lot of areas with little to no grass “patchy”. I was very disappointed I drove over an hour to play a course in poor condition. It it wasn’t for the greens being excellent, I certainly would have left after 9. It was also very hard to believe a 5-some was out on a very busy Sunday afternoon.

I love this golf course! The greens are fast. The holes are all straight forward nothing tricky about it. My only suggestion is to add a set of tees that's around 6200. On the scorecard the options are 6000 or 6500.

I love the scenery and the course is tough. Beautiful lake and very challenging.

Course is just always fun to play with a couple of hard holes on the back side.

But, can not beat it.

Played the course on a really quiet Sunday afternoon as a single so I got around in less than 2.5hrs. Very few people out. The layout was challenging. Lots of elevation changes which meant that there were some odd lies. Fairways were still well maintained even though it was still early in the season. Greens well fast and will get faster. There were also some very beautiful holes up against the lake. A must play. Will come back once the season starts.

This course is definitely challenging! I enjoyed the oar 3s. The long par 4s are tough but it pretty balanced when playing from the member tees.

Better be close to the hole on your approach - more than 15-20 feet is three putt waiting to happen even though the greens were aerated recently. Can’t wait for the summer. A little wet but overall a good place to play on a beautiful day.

I gotta say my last experince was VERY bad! This time a nice woman met me in the clubhouse and it was a pleasant experience. She was warm and welcoming. The course was a bit soggy but I expected that with all the rain we've been having.

Being late winter, it is chilly and the fairways are not in good condition and difficult because the grass is dormant and the lies are very tight. This, and the wet ground, makes chipping very challenging. However, the greens are in very good shape and are very quick! Crystal Lake could take a lesson from Heron Bay when it comes to greens, as Heron Bay seems to always have greens superior to those at Crystal Lake throughout the year.

From the moment I walked to the counter the attendant decided they were going to come at me all wrong, nothing but negativity came from this man. Since I had used a free time I decided not to even play as his actions put me in a negative mindset which would ultimately effect the way I would play .
