greens in decent shape
The course was in goid shape, greens were good with a couple of rough spots but overall good. Pace of play was good, no weekend pros in front of us.
Great Pace
We played Sunday morning & finished in just over 3 hours. The course is in fairly good shape. The greens have been redone & roll very true and much faster than the old greens. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Water hazards poorly marked from tee
This course needs some work. Looks tired & not kept up. Very Poor driving range conditions, sparse grass on fairways, no rakes in any of the bunkers. GPS in golf carts to include location of all hazards would have been very helpful.
overpriced
didn't have our reservation but did get us on. Put someone in front of us on the King course and slowed us down. Way expensive for the quality of the course. Greens in bad shape.
Gets worse every time!
I am from canada, visitor to Cape Coral yearly and golf a few times each year while in Cape Coral. I have played the royal tee each of the last 3 years. It wasn't very good a few years ago, and hasn't got any better. The only reason I went back this year is they claimed to be better now after some 2013 rebuild. For a $75 round, this course sucks. The shape was terrible. The odd green wasn't bad but most were very patchy. Some fairways lacked one spec of green on them. Sand traps, more like overgrown mud holes. Grass growing in some of them, others ankle deep with water. Along the sides of the fairways was overgrown and not well kept. All of this was made so much worse by the guy working the desk inside. He was such an arrogant young guy that I could not believe. Myself and the group that was ahead of me in line were astonished by him. He proceeded to stand outside while we waited to pay for our time. Then he had the nerve to say we are late, when in fact we were at the till paying with carts ready, 10 mins before our tee time. Best part is we get to the starter and he lets us pick which course we want to play because there is no one playing the junk course. And buddy chirps us for being late. The guy in front of me asked a question about one of the courses, as he wanted to play the one with the bridges at the back....young guy acts like he's from space and says he has no idea, don't know what you mean. I've played there like 3 times in 4 years and I knew what course the guy wanted and answered his question for him. I totally get that we pay a luxury to golf in florida as tourist in the winter, but a junk course and organization like this needs to remember that visitors and snowbirds are what keeps these places open. We should be treated well, after travelling far and spending much more than we would pay to play better courses at home. I wouldn't be surprised to see this course disappear one of the next few years I'm down, it would be the best thing for it.
inadvisable
The fairways was bad and the course maintenance was poor !
Confusion reigned
had to get into line to register to play - kid selling tee times also expected to answer phone, answer walkie-talkie inquiries - pro sat in his office and occasionally barked a command, then went out to give a lesson. Although3 coursed, there was a lineup of 14 carts at the first hole of one course at 9:55 (our tee time supposed to be 10:15. Starter said the original starter quit that morning; this guy went to GM to ask if he could start some of us on another course, was told to just follow instructions without change and try to get people to play faster (???) Finally member of our party went and talked to pro, interrupting his lesson - pro said "R U trying to tell me how to do my job?" but finally let interim starter send a bunch of us to another one of their courses. Without course knowledge you will lose golf balls; also , no rakes in traps or on cart. It would be one thing if greens fee/cart fee were $35, but this was $74 for seniors (although someone in line in front of us played for $65). Didn't look like they were serving any food in lounge. Life is too short to waste any of it on this course.
RoyalTee2015
Organisation was chaotic, too many people on the course.
Course was desperate for water.
Course was disappointing
We had heard that the greens were rebuilt and the course improved. The greens were OK but unremarkable. The course conditions were disappointing. Fairways were sparse with a lot of bare lies. Traps are experimental. All are played as waste bunkers; little sand, ground your club and don't rake. They said the USGA is trying to speed up play. Yoy won't being in someone's footprint. Many lakes, some of which are not visible from the tee. It takes some local knowledge.
Fun place to play
The staff was great in the pro shop, starter on the course and in the clubhouse. Had a good time
Not informed
I enjoyed my day at Royal Tee, however most of the greens had been covered with sand. I wish I would been informed of this prior and had the choice to play or not, and it wasn't all of them. I got used to the speed and feel of the sand and then would play 3 or 4 without sand and then a few more with sand. It cost me a few strokes. Other than that I enjoyed the course.
Couple of holes, the water cuts back into fairway out of sight.
5 tees, your game will be challenged more or less based on where you tee off from. its about 6700 from the tips. the white is great for a senior, red perhaps a little short for a lady who can move the ball in the air.
Another over Priced Florida Course
Played the first nine in one hour and 50 minutes (paired up). Almost 3 hours to play second nine as a twosome. Had a foursome and a threesome in front of us, and a twosome behind us. Never saw a ranger all day. They need to enforce pace of play, and make playing as a foursome part of course policy. Greens weren't too bad, but fairways weren't very good. I won't be back
On vacation
Course has a great layout, we just play at the wrong time, the course was not in the best of condition for the amount we paid
This course has lots of water
Course feels narrow because of the water and houses. There are no blind holes
great course in good shape
It is a good course that is challenging . There is a lot of water that make the course fun to play.
fun course
It appears winter has taken it's toll on the greens as they were in better condition last year in February.
needs work
The greens need a little work. I layout of the course is great. Enjoyed our day.
Beautiful course but poor condition of all greens
Fairways and green very dry.
Poor condition of all greens. Sand on all greens.
Good challenge because of many water hazards
