Beautiful course but poor condition of all greens
Fairways and green very dry.
Poor condition of all greens. Sand on all greens.
Good challenge because of many water hazards
Bobbyl's review
We will not be back to play this course. It is in very scruffy condition....looks like very limited maintenance, fairways in poor condition...need some fertilizer and attention, greens were okay...pro shop was disappointing...not much of a selection. Need someone who cares to get this into better condition.
Overall good value.
No GPS on carts so second time playing you'd be more aware of hazards and slopes.
All the way to Royal Tee
Starter let us start on a different 9 to avoid the crowd in front of us. Played in just over 3 hours.
Course Needs Work
I realize it is still winter in Cape Coral, but the fairways were in mediocre condition with many bare spots. Also, there were several holes where it was difficult to tell the distance from tee to waste area. Hit several good tee shots that landed in environmental jungle areas. Should be better marked. For $50, Copperhead GC in Lehigh is a better value.
Nice change
Nice to see the course finally re-done the greens. So much better than last time on this course will definetly return now.
Great Value for Money
Good value for money. Nice course, better shape than last year. Will go again.
Not a premier golf course
Whoever described this as a "premier" golf course in the area is full of Bogies. Course layout is OK, but conditions are average at best. Sand traps are a joke. Greens are generally slow. Staff not all that friendly, act as if this is an "all that" track. Many other courses within 30 miles of this one that I'd chose over this. In fact, I won't even play this one again. Last time I played here, they refused to honor a discount coupon in the local paper because they claimed the paper made a mistake.
Don't Waste Your Money - Not Worth the Fees!!!!!!!!!
We've played Royal Tee a few times, but this will be the last. While the Queen and King courses offer a moderately challenging layout, the overall course conditions are terrible. It has gone downhill since we played it a couple of years ago. First of all, the fairways and rough areas are really not well maintained...very little rain since we arrived a week ago but the course was extremely wet in the rough areas. Believe this or not - no rakes in or around the bunkers...we learned from another golfer as we were finishing that "to save money" and make it more "naturalized" like Pinehurst, the bunkers are all considered waste areas and you can ground your club. What a joke. Most bunkers had more dirt rather than sand. And, the few bunkers that did have sand had shoe prints and rough spots through out them. What's more, the greens were in terrible shape. They used to be spongy and very slow, which they are trying to rectify, but the were oversanded and scuffed in a lot of spots. Finally, no ranger in sight anywhere. Although we did play it in a little over four hours, we waited and waited and waited, on almost every hole. And, the group in front of us hit sometimes two or three balls off the tee...
We, thankfully, did not pay full price, but it was not even worth the $30 we paid. It's absolutely ridiculous that they are charging $50... for that same price (and sometimes less through Golf Now) you can drive four miles down the road and play Palmetto Pine... lightening fast greens and better course conditions. Or Magnolia Landing which is also a short distance from Royal Tee - a much nicer course!
More challenging than slope rating
The course had a low slope rating but there were quite a few holes that required a carry over a hazard. Bring extra balls!
Decent Track
Decent track. The fairways were a little rough, and the greens were a little slow, but true. Played in 3 hrs, so pace of play was exceptional. Decent value for the right price.
Difficult courses
Tricky - even unfair - layout on some holes. Unseen water, etc. Pin placement was very difficult on many holes. Tee boxes pretty chewed-up.
The course is in good shape and a challenge on many holes.
Have played this course many times over the past few years. The greens are fast and in great shape. Both the course and grounds have been improved. New carts, tee boxes, greens, clubhouse renovations and staff. Lots of work has been done lately and if you haven't played here recently you should give it a try.
Times goes by...
Realy bad conditions: muddy in many ariers of the course, bunkers partly like concrete, no harks, no ball washers......
I would be a realy nice golf course, if the greenkeeper would do his work!!
Poor
Layout was fine however the course conditions were horrible. Fairways hard burnt hardpan. Bunkers lived up to there name , waste bunker. I have never seen a course that was both burnt dry and under water at the same time
Very very wet and muddy !!
Played here many times and it was 4 years ago very nice. It is either going out of business or being remodeled. Signed up for King and Queen but only got to play the Prince course. Weeds in bunkers, not one rake, burned greens, bad tee boxes. Shame because awesome layout.
Water in play
First time playing this course. Scorecard has no map showing layout. Got in quite a bit of trouble at times not knowing where to go. Lots of bunkers, lots of water. Rain out after 10 holes, so did not receive rain check. Also did not receive free beer. Course was quite muddy in fairways at times.
Stock up on balls.
My wife and I played the course first time. We played the King & Queen courses. The staff are excellent and the starter had helpful tips. The courses have some narrow the offs and there are water hazards everywhere. Beautiful homes abound. We enjoyed our round.
Great course
We alwayas Play at this course when we're in Cape Coral for hollidays!
