My round at Casselberry
This is an older course built over 60 years ago. It is short compare to many courses, but it is very tight on many holes. Enjoyed playing the course wondering how many famous people might have played this course years ago while vacationing at Florida.
pleasent suprise
Greens not that great. But fun course with great pace of play. Proshop was very freindly and polite.
Hidden cost
This was the 3rd time for 2015 that I booked Casselberry with golf now for a tee time and went for some practice. Last year I had some 14 reservations and not once have I been advised or charged an "environmental fee". I felt that Gary was rude and aside from his comment that I took as negative that for my golf now tee time I was "early", I arrived about 20 minutes early to check in, etc. I don't mind paying the state the fee, but tell me up front. Course is in awful condition, greens are poor and nothing more than mowed weeds, Course of Play--EXCELLENT-why, no one there. I quit playing this course several years ago, then began using golf now to book the discount rate for some practice rounds here. I will think twice before I return again. Next time I'm wanting to practice, I'll go down the street to the driving range.
Work in progress
The course needs work and while I was playing there were several landscapers working. It's worth the time and money if you get a hot deal. Let's see the improvements and that will determine if paying more is worth it. Staff very nice and informative.
NEEDS TLC
The course has potential but no one is taking care of it. Some of the greens were pretty good. But the fairways (when I hit them) we terrible. No grass at all. The bunkers was like hitting off of the cart path. You were better off hitting it in the rough. I paid $22.00 to play on this course and it was NOT worth it. I played by myself and 2 guys ahead of me were hitting 2 and 3 balls off of the tee. They didn't let me play through.
Wow. Way to Go Integrity !!!
As a long time area resident I have seen Casselberry G.C. go through many changes both good and bad. It's really a shame that "The Golf Group" let this course get to such disarray. 2 months ago I would not have let my goats wander the course as it was in such bad shape. However now that the City of Casselberry has bought the course and hired Integrity Golf Co to manage it the course has improved dramatically. There is now grass at the facility, OMG real grass back at Casselberry and most of it is green. Course has been cleaned up very well for the short time you have been there. It still needs a little more TLC but it looks like it's well on its way up. Kudos to you Integrity Golf and City of Casselberry. As long as you continue to show your support for this little gem I will be happy to support you as well.
Course
The course is in horrible condition and the greens are all dead plus the fairways look really bad it's all you can play becouse the course is in such bad shape that they are losing money and they don't care about it becouse the course is being taken over since it got sold you have better luck saving your money and playing on a cow pasture
course review
Fun first few hopes. Lost lots of golf balls. Will play it again soon
Simply terrible
The worst golf course I have ever played. The greens are just as long as the rough. There is no discernibly difference between fairway rough and greens. That was redundant. That's how bad it is. I quit after the third hole.
TOO LOW TO RATE
I did not rate this course because it wouldn't even make one star. It was the worst course conditions I have ever played, EVER.
It was in such a state of neglect that it appeared as though the course had been closed down for months.
Mostly bare, patchy greens with quarter size crabgrass all over,
Unmowed fringes with baseball size crabgrass. The scorched fairways were flanked on both sides with almost knee-high Bahia shoots and the tee boxes were more like a sand box.
They had the nerve to charge us 18.00 and act like they were doing us a favor by saying it was their afternoon rate. (We had 3 tee times at 10:00 - 10:15 am).
They should be embarrassed to send someone out on that course for ANY amount. If my son and I would have been a twosome I would have gone back after two holes to get my money back.
Seriously Dissappointed
Great folks... course needs TLC
Had a great experience with the personnel of this course. Ranger was friendly and helpful with course nuances. Only issue is that this course needs some TLC. Greens were bare (esp in the back 9). Affected some of my putts, but wasn't trying to catalog score.
good layout but course needs TLC
Course has many things going for it...great layout, great people working there, but need to have the grounds cared for better. I had a hard time having to putt on weeds and crabgrass. If they can get these is used resolved, they will be just fine.
Needs serious help
Casselberry is a fun little layout, and the staff are always accommodating. It is a good course for kids and novices, but it is in the worse shape that I have ever seen. Greens are unputtable, but they are only charging a small fee for all the golf you want to play. Good for practicing your game or getting the kids involved in the sport.. Supposedly a new superintendent is starting this week. I'm not sure how long it would take to make this a decent golf course again, but I hope they can do so.
Something Bad is Going on Here
Now I know that the City of Casselberry is in the process of buying this course (letter of intent signed). But it seems that the Golf Group has stopped maintaining the course since it looks like it will be sold. The greens at Hole 5 and Holes 15 through 18 were totally dead; sun-baked clay is what you get to putt on. Other greens were have dead. Fairways and tee boxes also pretty bad. I was told in the pro shop that they were having problems with the irrigation system and that was the reason for the course deterioration. But it really seems like there's more going on (or maybe less) than just irrigation problems. Casselberry used to be a fun little practice; three months ago it was in much better shape. The City is going to inherit a course that will need major overhaul. So very sad!
Picture of course is not realistic
Most greens had no grass, course is not in good shape. Hackers course.
Wow what a change - for the worse!
I have played this course many time because in is nearly in my backyard. The course usually has it's ups and downs for course condition, however this time it was awful. The greens had been air-rated, so you expect them to be rough, but these had little to no grass on almost every green. The greens resembled more of a desert floor that something that belonged on the golf course. The area has had plenty of rail lately, so I do not know what the reason for the poor conditions.
Like playing in a sand lot.
I have played this course at least thirty times over the last 20 years and never have i seen it in such poor condition. Some of the greens are almost literally grass free and are sanded to the point where its impossible to putt or judge speed. My suggestion is to spend your money somewhere else until city decides to close or spend some money to fix.
A Cow Pasture
This was the worst golf course I've ever played.
The fairways were like cow pastures. Long grass and unkept. Full of weeds and nasty little mud holes. Greens were slow and full of impact marks. One green (sixteen I think), was completely brown and the ground appeared to be upheaved by some sort of mole or ground hog. Layout was very poor. It wound through neighborhoods, across roads and through a secluded wooded area on a dirt road. Tees were not located properly, and there was too little distance between women's and men's tees on the longer holes. The course, and clubhouse were very run down and the men's room smelled of urine. This was an extremely poor golf course unfit for golf. It should be sitting in the middle of an abandoned bomb test site at Area 51. The tees, for the most part, were torn up and devoid of grass between the markers. It isn't worth a dime to play. Poor value for the money. I think this course needs either to be renovated from top to bottom or turned into condo building grounds. If all else fails, turn the land into a city dump for the Orlando area. It would probably smell better.
Back 9 are better
If you can get to play here for $10-$15 it's worth it. The front 9 holes are very wet and muddy
Good value
Good value for the money. Short but fun course. Will definitely play again.
