Improving slowly
It's not a bad place to enjoy rolling the rock. But it can be messy on wet days. It's good for kids, beginners and seniors to hang out. They have a good practice facility for improving putting, chipping and range balls are cheap. The course needs improving around the fairways and fairways themselves need improving on dry spots and divot areas.
Bad
Course in very rough shape right now. Fairway looked like a pasture with patches of dirt. Greens so slow I could not bring myself to putt the hard enough to reach the hole all day.
Barely holding on
It was really wet with tons of standing water telling me the drainage is poor. Muddy and very hard to get out of even the fairway...if you can call it a fairway. Greens were in terrible shape and very small. The practice range was so bad you could hardly find a flat patch of grass from which to hit. We played about four holes and quit. I am glad I only paid $8 on Golfnow but in the future, probably won't play there again.
Rough too rough!
Rough needs mowing! Lost a number of balls that were playable on previous outings. I/m never gonna play the US Open- don't need to hit out of 12 inch weeds three feet off the fairway . . .
Need Major Keep up
This course used to be a great and challenging course, but after playing it yesterday I was disappointed at how bad a shape the green are. It is ok if you want to practice your wood and iron shots only, but do not get frustrated if you have difficulty putting. I would not play again in this course unless they fix it.
Conditions have deteriorated
Greens were sanded which was understandable at this time of year. For weekend play, lack of mowing of the rough and around greens really made play difficult. Cutting would of done better job of hiding the weeds.
Not sure what happened as conditions were much better 60 days ago.
Cheap practice, and not too crowded
Every once in a while I like to play Casselberry. It's usually cheap and not too busy. Normally I'm taking one of my daughters with me who enjoy riding in the cart and raking the sand traps. I don't go for the quality of golf I just go for the practice. The greens are currently in terrible shape and the tee boxes are usually pretty weeded. The course itself is a little short and pretty tight and I find it moderately challenging because of that. The bunkers are rarely kept and usually pretty compacted. There are still some interesting holes like 4, 13 and 17. Overall, playing Casselberry should be mainly used as a quick practice round. It's good value because it's inexpensive, but don't go expecting lush fairways/greens and scenic views.
The course could be better - has potential to be a great Course
I had played at this course a few times before when the fairways and greens looks great.
Yesterday, May 31, 2014, it looks terrible (the fairways and greens), and then it rained. You can just imagine how it would look like, water on the fairways and the greens. But, this course has a lot of potential to be a great course, if it is taken care of.
Poor Conditions at Casselberry GC
I went to Casselberry GC for a fun round of golf, but the experience was awful. The course was in the worst shape I have ever seen it. The greens were mostly dead and bumpy due to weeds and bald spots on the greens. The rough was overgrown in most areas, and simply put the course was not well-kept.
Good value
Price was great for 18 holes and a cart. Course was in pretty good shape but greens were quite sandy.
Narrow drives
Probably should have moved up a set of tees. Tee shots on front nine require a lot of accuracy.
Sprinklers.. Really
We were on the 8th hole when I guess it was time to turn on the sprinklers.. And not just tiny sprinklers.. Huge rotating sprinklers.. So in an effort to stay dry we had to scramble and find a place that wasn't being hit by the water and play off the course.. It was quite ridiculous and unbelivable.
Poor Fairways, decent greens
There are not many signs about where to go, and the course is in the middle of a residential area. We were lost many times and took us 15 minutes to get to the first tee. Slow rate of play, but that's not the courses fault.
Below average course
The overall condition of the course is below average.Good for a practice round at a low price. Not a test for golf. Not worth the drive from Windermere.
COURSE IS GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
The course is a little misleading when you first get there but you're in for a big surprise. The course is not long but is very challenging. It has tight approaches into the greens that require that you have good control and distance. The greens are in good shape and putt true. I really think that this course is the best value for the buck out there. Good luck!!!
HEF.
in good condition
the course is in great condition/ the staff is making improvements & maintenance is better at this time-- enjoyable.
Great course
It's a great course for the price. I had fun playing here.
A great value
This is a great course just to get out and enjoy the game of golf. Don't expect Tour Tournament Course conditions or difficulty. This is a fun round of golf at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a "Country Club" environment this is not the place to go, but if you just want a decent course with friendly locals and staff this is a great value and a nice place to enjoy 18 holes in a nice older suburban setting. It's all about enjoying the game for me and for an average golfer this course is just what the doctor ordered!
Let's Be Real - It's Not Bad
I've played here many times over the last decade. The course is in solid condition for what it is. It's not trying to be a resort.
For what you pay, you shouldn't be disappointed. Tee boxes are pretty bad, hilly, tons of divots. Fairways eh not terrible. Greens really respectable. Bunkers... holes with dirt in them. Probably the worst you'll ever see.
Driving range: Pluses: Hitting off grass, TONS of short targets which is great. You can hone in that <100 yard game. Nice big dedicated chipping area.
Inexpensive draft beer! $2.50 domestic pints, $6 dom. pitchers.
All in all, for what it is, thumbs way up.
I live near this course and noticed that it had aeration listed about 1-2 weeks ago. Wonder how long GolfNow keeps that on their site before dropping it.
