Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

Palm course.

Got the course for a decent rate on golf now. Wanted to play again or at Valley course and it was priced too high for the time of year(May 14). Greens were a rough and slow. Still like coming back.

Never Again

For the past 30 years we have been coming to the desert every four or five years. Desert Springs Palms Course was always one of our scheduled places to play. I have even scheduled tournaments there with our business group. We had a 9:40 tee time and teed off on time.We were having a wonderful day on the golf course with our friends who had never played there before. We were three and a half hours into the round finishing up the 14th hole when one of the staff came out and said we could finish on the back nine of the Valley Course. When I asked why and he said he had a shotgun tournament starting at 1;30. Why did they book a 9;40 tee time when they had a 1;30 shotgun? We could not have possibly finished by 1:30 and we did not pay all the money to play the Valley Course. And why didn’t anyone mention that when we checked in or at anytime during the round? I asked them to refund our green fees and after a while they did. This was a real sour note to the start of our vacation. We won’t be back.

GPS could provide more information, especially distances to bunkers and water hazards.

Nice course. Terrible maintenance. Horrible greens. No Marshall.

Never will play here again. Resort course pricing. Bunkers have no sand. Greene are stupid slow. Pin placement make no sense for pace of play. No Marshall. Group ahead of us was 2 holes behind.

Humps and bumps

Humps and strange lies everywhere. No doglegs. But any ball short of the greens often led to funky side hill lies on these humps and with strange grippy grass. So our chipping / putting was awful. The greens were very very slow but also hard enough that they wouldn’t hold even a lob wedge.

Women, Juniors and Seniors Beware

If you play the forward tees, beware or should I say be aware this golf course have removed forward tees.

I spent the first 2 holes looking for the forward tees since each hole monument shows there is a red tee. I called the club house and was told the white tees was for women. My husband and son in law were playing whites and arrived on Regulation on the green. I arrive on regulation on forward tees.

I share that I play forward tees and wanted to submit my card for my handicap. The golf pro said to pick a place on fair way and tee up. I could not believe what I was hearing.

It was obvious to me any Women, Senior or Junior who plays forward tees not welcome.

I asked for a refund and was told that was not possible.

I was so frustrated about my play that I stopped playing at hole 6. I am a courteous golfer and keep pace of play in mind.

JW Marriott I so disappointed with lack of professionalism

Not as his as expected.

Overall pace of play was good but greens were lumpy and long. Needed to be rolled and cut - to slow putting. Got the round at a deal price but even at that considered it too much to pay. I've played this before when the greens were in much better shape!

Slow

It is a resort course, but it’s too expensive for slow play.
