Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
About
Desert Springs Resort has a longstanding reputation as a luxury resort that offers something for everyone. There are two championship golf courses that sprawl across beautifully landscaped grounds covered with lush vegetation and sparkling lagoons, providing a scenic oasis amidst the desert surroundings. From nearly every hole at the resort, golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains. Water is the most prominent feature of both golf courses. Between the two of them, over 35 acres of water features come into play. The Palms Course is the slightly more challenging layout of the two, but both are accessible to players of all skill levels. The layout features well guarded greens, thick rough and towering palm trees bordering the holes. It has a memorable finishing stretch that starts with an island par-3 on the 17th and finishes with a tricky dogleg par 4 with water all along the left side.

JW Marriott entry w/Palms decorated for Christmas Photo submitted by dpeagleton on 12/22/2012
Poor greens
Course is good! The greens are not in good condition. The GPS on the carts is not calibrated to the pin placement. Played three other courses in the last week and these were the poorest greens
Greens are awful.
The staff was very friendly other than those in the golf shop. They should remember that we are their customer! They act completely indifferent. They should work for the IRS.
These are the worst greens I’ve played here period!
Ian Smith
The starter at JW Marriott Desert Springs was hands down the best I’ve ever encountered. Incredibly friendly and attentive, he went out of his way to ensure we had food and drinks before our round, even with a long line. His exceptional service truly elevated our experience, and I just want to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves!
Desert Springs Palm
The Golf course was in excellent condition. Good shots were rewarded with a fair
placement for your next swing. Fairways have some great mogels for challenging efforts to the green. Greens were a stent or two slower than the other courses I've played in the valley. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Beautiful course in Palm Desert
Some beautiful holes. Loads of water. Way more hills than I was expecting. Greens not as good as you would hope.
A reasonable resort course, but the grounds crew made it more challenging than it should be.
On a par 4 with water about 125 yards to 80 yards in front of the green and a very steep uphill slope past the water to the green, they cut the rough so short on the hill that even though I purposely hit into the rough 50 yards past the water, my ball rolled all the way down the hill and into the water.
This is not a "resort course" like condition! maybe appropriate for a PGA event, but certainly not for a resort course! Especially not fun when it was $229 for a round that should have been about $75 to $100!!!
Beautiful
The course is in great condition. The last few holes will make you cry if you get careless.
Great Course
Beautiful course, well maintained, although the greens were a little bumpy. lots of water on the front nine.
Nice course
Lots of hills and water on this beautiful course in the middle of the Marriott complex
Good layout; greens a bit thin
A fun layout (Palms Course)… the course, with the exception of the greens, is is very good shape. Greens were thin (still coming in.. assuming they need warmer weather 😎). I would play again, but only if the greens were much better.
Pro shop person would not check us in for our round until 1hour before the tee time .. since we pre paid via TeeOff.com/Golf now !! I have never encountered this “rule” at any course. The guy might have had a bad day. The starter (Tim) was awesome… he move us to an earlier tee time and let us hit balls before we were officially checked in! At least one employee was customer service focused.
Good but could have been a lot better.
Not much grass in the fairways.
Not enough sand in the bunkers.
Greens need some work.
Great pace of play
The starter at this course was fantastic and was probably a big part of the reason the pace of play was so good. He should teach a course on how to be a starter, he was excellent . I was paired with a twosome, we teed at 12 and we’re finished at 3:30. The course was in good shape, greens were OK , a good speed for resort golf.
I will definitely play here again
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! DO NOT PLAY!!!
Worst course I all of the Coachella Valley and perhaps the worst service ever experienced in 30+ years of playing golf in the desert!
They have ZERO golf etiquette and could care less about your safety after they take your money! No course marshals and allow people to wear tee shirts and jeans. So not worth the price they charge and staff is lazy as well. Plenty of other much better options and no need to expose yourself to their lack of service. 5 hour plus round, beginners playing from the blues and no one to tell them different. Saw someone get assaulted on the course, had his putter thrown by the bully from the group ahead of him and no security to assist the gentleman. Pathetic all around and a stay away from place. Lack of management and terrible staff. Nine golfers run this place and care about the pricey resort only!
Beautiful day, Beautiful course
This is one of my favorite courses to play. I gave an overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5, because we played Classic Club a day earlier, and they include a $25.00 food drink coupon per player and they gave us each a souvenir golf towel. Palms at Marriott does not give these little amenities and Palm at Marriott was more expensive than Classic Club.
