Ballamor Golf Club
About
The18-hole track at Ballamor Golf Club is renowned for its usage of the naturally hilly course in its layout. Brian Ault, the designer, utilized the natural terrain and thick forestry and also added subtle modern and traditional touches to create a unique golfing experience.
The golf course doesn't feature any "signature" hole, but each hole is different from the others and they employ the use of almost every type of golf shot. As a composition, the 18 holes create a course that is both challenging and fun. The course also has five sets of tee boxes. Another distinguishing characteristic of the course is its "go out and stay out" philosophy and layout. The golfer starts near the Clubhouse but doesn't end until the 18th green. This allows for a faster game and there is also a halfway house for refreshments.

Looking at the 18th green Photo submitted by Jeffrey6275494 on 09/12/2013
Outstanding layout and design
From tee to green, great shape. the greens rolled true and you could'nt fine a bare spot or a weed on the course.
fun course to play with wide fairways and tough greens
i like this course a lot. you can shoot a low round if your putter is on, but can be a little long for the high handicapper. it is fun to play though and has a very friendly staff
Course has great variety of holes.
My favorite feature of Ballamor GC is the bunkers. They are firm with excellent lies.
Ballamor 2013 summer
Great course, well maintained and challenging for all levels with multiple tee boxes to suit all. Bring a laser with you as there are many holes that you have to carry the distance to the cup or face multiple tier greens and collection areas if you come up short. Overall a fantastic course that takes some course knowledge to score low. Must ride no walkers as there is plenty of room between holes.
One of the best secrets in the Jersey shore...
What a fantastic course. Staff super-friendly, course in fantastic shape. Will play again, for sure...
This was a last minute choice for us and it turned out to be a really nice tract! Will play again
The course is well maintained and in great shape. Challenging holes, nice greens, and great fairways. I will be playing this every time I am down in Avalon, NJ. Great deal for the money.
Best course near OCNJ
Returned to play twice in 1 week while on vacation because of how fun the course played. Need to be long off tees to give yourself a chance to score.
Great shape all around, beautiful setting
Booked my tee time on Golfnow.com at a great price @ 6:50 am. Went out right on time and finished in 3:50. Tees, fairways, greens, rough and hazards were all in wonderful shape. No guessing as to how any surface would react to a shot. Almost no homes visible on the course; I felt like I was completely detached from civilization. Hole 6 was beautiful...had to stop and take a picture. Staff was great, marshal came by 4 times to ask how we were and if we needed anything. Saw the cart girl twice despite the early tee time. The snack bar at the turn was open too, even before 9 am. Had a great time!
large undulating greens, rolling about 9 , course management a must
When youu get a chance to play a course of this Caliber ,take it. The Greens are large with a true roll and speed could get real quick on a dry day, we played after it rained. The Fairways were on great shape ,and the rough is what it is ROUGH. stay out of it or you will be dropping a stroke.
This was our first time. We like to play a two man scramble on a new track , so we can have fun and enjoy it. Its better and you learn alot more when you have someone to bounce off of.
Enjoy Ballamor we did , and the Porch has a nice view of 18
Slow play
Really nice course, in really good condition. But the pace of play is absolutely awful. Course was packed with terrible, slow players. It took me 5 1/2 hours to play - as a single. I wish I was kidding.
A real enjoyment!
Very playable course. I plan on coming back next year.
Nice course but not spectacular
Nice course but not spectacular. Too many of the holes had a similar look to them
Pace of play was good
Only other negative was that the only tee yardage references were on score card. None at tee boxes which I found to be unusual at a public course
VERY SLOWWWWWWW PLAY
I thought this was one of the nicest courses in the south jersey area. I would give this course a much higher rating if the pace of play wasn't so bad. There were twosome after twosome that jammed up the course (no ranger to be found asking them to pair up. One of the twosomes was a husband and wife. I watched the woman re-tee 3 times while a foursome was waiting. YES, 3 times ! (1) I blame the course for not keeping the pace up. (2) If you want to golf with your wife and she is a beginner, find an easier course.(3) If you are a 110 shooter, it doesn't make you look cool to play from the blue tee's, it just makes you look like a 125 shooter.(4) If I owned this course there would be a lot of people out of jobs today. you can't have a course this nice a let lazy people manage it. Sorry but waiting on the tee box every hole for 5 minutes is not acceptable......EVER !
outstanding course
They course was in fantastic shape and staff was top rate. It is a must play. You do need to pick the tee that fits your play. Look forward to my next outing.
Fantastic course
I will definitely play here again because it is in pristine condition and provides a good challenge if playing from the Blue or Black.
Good mix of holes, some demanding length, some demanding accuracy.
Great staff, very accommodating. Course was private up until 5 years ago; still maintains "exclusive" feel even though it is now public. Superbly maintained. Only minor complaint was lack of 150 yard marker posts on numerous holes, even though 100 & 200 yard posts were present.
Challenging but fun, great layout
Great conditions from tee to green. Very large greens with 6 possible pin placement. Greens roll fast and true. Course designed in 3s, every 3 holes you drive through the woods to another area. Course has wide fairways and bunkers with soft sand. Missing the fairway will hurt, cabbage and schmut are thick and juicy.
Rude staff
I was very unfortunate to have played on a day that it rained. From a course perspective, Ballamor was a well maintained and challenging course. However, mid way through our round it began downpouring and we had to call it quits. We were about to leave when the group in front of us told us that they received a 9 hole rain check. When approaching the club house, the staff member questioned us about our round like we were on the stand. How come you took so long to play? Because its been raining for the last hour and a half and we were trying to wait it out... He continued to question us and finally stated that we didn't pay the course for our round, therefore we couldn't get a rain check. He also stated that he wasn't giving away free money for someone who didn't pay him anything, even though we paid golfnow. It wasn't until 5 minutes of arguing had passed that the man finally stated that to get a rain check when you book through golfnow, you have to go through golf now. Had he said that at the beginning instead of being rude, I wouldn't have wasted my time and he wouldn't have lost 4 customers. I'll never play there again.
The course is well maintained and exceptionally challenging but yet manageable!
The course is well maintained with very friendly an helpful staff, there is even beautiful cart girls. The course is challenging but manageable, the fairways are well maintained with layered ruff, the greens roll true and are quadrant off with many slopes and valleys, use the green grid in the cart for pin locations.
An unexpected surprise
The course was more challenging than we expected. Course was enjoyable and worth a return trip. Tough long par 4s and par 5s are a lot of fun. It's definitely worth the trip
I would have to disagree. I teed off at 1pm the same day and completed my round in 4 hours and 25 mins it was a great pace of play and the course was pristine. The staff was friendly and courteous. It is my favorite course in South Jersey and would recommend it to everyone.
