Glen Abbey Golf Club
About
The 18-hole Glen Abbey Golf Club in Debary, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1974. Designed by Dominic Palombo, Glen Abbey Golf Club measures 6661 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 137 and a 72.9 USGA rating. The course features 3 sets of tees for different skill levels. The greens are bermuda grass and the fairways are winter rye.
The Glen Abbey course winds through gently rolling landscapes of sylvan splendor and a 60-acre body of water known as “No-Name” Lake. There are no parallel fairways and all fairways are tree-lined. Water comes into play on eight holes. There are 80 strategically placed bunkers. Crepe myrtle, elderberry and oleander plantings are an aesthetic addition to existing magnolia, oak and towering pines which frame most fairways.

No ranger to keep pace of play up
Like the course and was in good shape after the hurricane. Would recommend if you don't mind slow play.
practice course
This is the course we use to practice cause its cheap. Fairways are really bumpy, hold on to your hat. Greens are pretty good considering. We nicknamed 10,11, and 12-"the snake pit"...getting through here without getting bit- only 3 over, is pretty good.
Fun Course to Play
Glen Abbey is just a great value golf course and has a very nice variety of golf holes.
Holes 10-12 will test your mettle and can definitely put a dent into a good round, but that makes it fun.
The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
This course has nice layout, especially the back 9
Course in fair to good shape, greens recently aerated, rolled true and were very fast, golf course staff very friendly.
10.5
I was trying out a new driver (10.5- usually 9.5) thinking I would get extra distance, which I did, but I ended up hitting approach shots from places I've never been before-- I'm thinking with some more adjustments, there will be overall improvement over time . . . oh, wait . . . you meant the golf course, right?
Interesting layout. Needs work
I have played this course periodically as it is close to my home. There are some very challenging holes. 10-12 can eat you alive, if you are not accurate. The greens are exceptional and fast. The rest of the course conditions are so-so. I would suggest playing the course with lowered expectations and you'll have a good time. Nancy in the clubhouse makes it all worthwhile. A very nice lady.
Didn't like the course setup, but great value for your money and staff was extremely friendly.
Staff here was exceptionally nice! Very friendly and welcoming. Course facilities are rather outdated and shows some signs of neglect. Greens were decent looking, but played faster than I have ever seen on a golf course. Like putting on concrete. Fairways were in pretty good condition though the first few holes do have weeds growing in the fairways. Cart paths need to be fixed and overall it was a pretty bumpy afternoon.
I was able to fly through the course playing as a single. No cart girl and bathrooms are pretty basic (one was a portapotty).
The one huge complaint I have about this course were the sandtraps. Honestly, I did not have fun playing today. Every single hole had 2 sandtraps hugging the green. Some holes there was literally less than 5 feet of grass approaching the green that you could play otherwise you were in the sand. I think I was in sand on half of the holes. Now, I am not a great golfer so I am sure above average golfers would have no problem getting onto the green, but for your average golfer you are going to be spending all of your time in the sand. Go look on google maps before playing to see what I am talking about with all the sand.
Anyways, even with the great golfnow rate, I wouldn't play here again. There are too many other courses in the area that don't make me feel cheated when I play and I really did feel cheated with how the sand played on this course.
Nice Day !
Course isn't perfect - paths are awful - greens are pretty good considering our drought! although some have tire tracks - but play is unrushed - people are great - love this course !
Good starter course
I like the course. There are places where the conditions could be better. All in a,good course.
rough shape
I choose this course cause it was a hot deal and the reviews on the course were very positive on the condition of the course. The course was in terrible condition and they placed new sod on the greens so your ball would bounce as it rolled. Unless your a member at a private club or play resort courses, a lot of the courses in central florida conditions are sub par.
Good course for the money. Pace was good, greens are very fast. Need to fix the bumpy cart paths.
Tire tracks were on two greens Piece of eguipment ?fairways were in need of grass not weeds Many weeds and bare spots on fairways and rough Layout of course was very challenging many doglegs. Money we spent was worth it
Great Track!!!!
Don't let the clubhouse area scare you off. Looks like it needs a bit of an "update", but at least they put there $$ in the course. Great track, minus the 18th hole. Only Par 5 I have ever played that a bomb down the middle leaves you with a wedge-wedge to the hole, due to the set up of the trees. Poorly designed final hole. Great 1-17, however!
Tough but fair little course
First time playing here. Greens were in really good condition and rolling nicely. Had to play from the tips because it is a little short. 6300 from tips. A lot of doglegs and shot making to be done. Tee boxes were a little weedy and some bald areas in the fairways but over all, a good day! Nice back nine change of scenery.
Much Improved!
Played a round at Glen Abbey in DeBary FL with my daughter. The course is much improved since the last time I played there. The buildings have been spruced up, but more importantly the fairways & greens have received a greatly needed amount of attention. There used to be a noticeable difference in the condition of the front 9 over the back, but no more. The entire course is now near pristine. Kudos to the staff & crews!
And as for our round... we scored terribly but had a great time!!
