Royce Brook Golf Club - East Golf Course

For $95 you’d expect more out of this course.

I played today july 4th- 5:50 tee time. We didn’t tee off until 6:00am as the greenkeepers were out on each fairway of every hole we got to- having to each time before teeing off.

There was 1 trash can on the entire course, and the one we came across was completely full from the night before with overspill of trash all over the ground.

There were no ball cleaners or cleat cleaners. Mind you $95 should get you these convenient amenities.

No cart person came around once.

The overall upkeep of the course could’ve been a lot better.

If you’re on the fence about a “nicer” course- I’d skip this one and go elsewhere

The course was in good shape and has an interesting layout. The greens were cut pretty low, and have some curves. The price was very good (30 bucks with a cart), but I teed off at 410pm. The only real drawback was that nobody was keeping on eye on pace of play. The round took just over 4 hours to play, but a few groups were playing very slowly and nobody was asking them to speed it up.

The bunkers in the East Course are atrocious. Absolutely no sand in them and completely unkept.

There were several issues with Roycebrook East course:

Bunkers - had no sand in it and was pretty much clay and mud. To be fair, it did rain the night before but not having sand at all is an issue in my opinion.

Carts - while I do prefer walking, I do expect carts to be properly charged for whole round when i paid for riding. Cart's battery died on the 14th hole, and service number noted on cart's windshield went all to voicemail. Had to connect to banquet service to connect to pro shop. They never showed with new cart. After walking through rest of round, spoke with proshop

but they had no adults and only non mgmt employees were around. Granted it was father's day weekend but I thought there would be some coverage. Left my info to speak with someone but never heard back.

It is a shame because layout is good, and greens were fair. I would stay away from course until changes are made.

Great course fairways and greens were great. Didn’t care for the dirt bunkers- no sand

Staff was great. Course is in ok shape. Greens were medium speed. Would recommend the course.

But…I have two small issues. First is there was no course Marshall to keep pace of play going. We played behind a group that was 2 1/2 holes behind.

Second is that players do not bother to take the bunkers. While it is hard for a public course to meter that, it just ticks me off that players are so selfish. Knowing this the course could have maintenance check traps periodically.

Staff is professional course is fantastic. Bunkers still need updated sand but it’s not a deal breaker, play this course!!!
