Royce Brook East Side Course Closing Soon.
Royce Brook has two side. The West which is private and the East which is open to the public. The course layout on the East is nice. But the course will be closing in two week from the date of this review because the East has been sold to a real estate developer so the course has not been properly maintained. The sand traps are horrible and the cart paths are even worse. So if you are trying to play at this course before is becomes totally private book a tee time soon, otherwise you will have to buy a membership ranging from $2795 - $6850.
Beautiful day.
The greens were fast. The course played well except for the dirt spots and no sand bunkers. The hole that are being redone looks great.
Overall will play again. Keep the price lower.
Half the holes r not being managed
Played here many times and I’m aware they are going down to 18 with a combination of 2 courses.. it’s very obvious which holes are staying and which are getting eliminated. My issue is $89 for nearly half the bunkers being unplayable? Go to heron glen, Neshanic Valley, spooky Brook but don’t waster your money here. Must be embarrassing for members I wouldn’t bring guests given current conditions and anyone considering membership should give this consideration
Almost good
When you are a public and private course, it can’t be easy. The public course has a horrible cart path, tee boxes are either perfect or disastrous, fairways are in good shape, greens nice. Bunkers…well they simply rediculous. They are overgrown and might as well set a rule that any bunker shot gets pulled out for real.
I played at roycebrook east.. it’s not well maintained for the green fees.
Not good at all.. lots of path holes..east course not maintained.. will not recommend..
Last time
Looks like they are going private in July. The traps on the holes that are not part of the new layout are terrible. It made me laugh when they still had rakes in them. Some wholes were under active renovation and it appears there taking sod from certain fairways.
Most Fairways and greens were fine. Not worth 50 bucks. Should charge 35.
Neglected Course
There are simply too many other course options to justify paying Royce Brook full price for the East Course. 95% of the bunkers have no sand and are overgrown with weeds. Also, several holes have large areas of the fairway under construction. For now, Royce Brook is off my play list.
Meh
To still charge full rate for this course is highway robbery. They haven’t put a dime into maintaining the east course in many years. Carts break down constantly, the cart path is nothing but potholes and puddles. The sanded traps are just mud filled with weeds and water. Joke
Upsetting
Played 18 here today on the west course (public side) and the course has been let go. Par 3 tee boxes are a mine field, can barely find firm ground to stand on. Greens are quick but that’s okay, no starter at 3:30 on a gorgeous busy Friday? Pace of play was slow but they let us finish and cart was back by 8:15. Not sure what’s going on here, we used to come here for an above average course and experience. Now the $58 cost makes sense/matches the condition of the course just upsetting at how badly the course has gotten. Most likely not coming back this year.
