6 hour round, 100 dollar green fee, dead fairways/tee boxes

Save you time money and patience, this place is a DUMP!

The East course has been sold off so they have completely stopped taking care of it. Tee boxes are all sand, tips are marked at the lady tee’s, fairways missing way too much grass. Absolute robbery to pay over $90 to play here.

WARNING!! the pictures they advertise are of the West private course (worth the absurd price), the East is in terrible shape and over a 30% of the grass is dead and theres not one nice tee box. Good course layout though

After buying the round on Golf Now, things got off to a bad start when we showed up at the course. Our package, which included range balls, was not to be as the range was closed for “lawn mowing”. Our golf carts which were supposed to have GPS, did not. Tee boxes were considerably lacking grass as were some fairways in spots. Weeds filled some areas of the sand(dirt) traps. I have not played the course in years but its condition was considerably below the high standards they once had.

I have played here for over 15 years. The staff is the only good thing I can point to. Unfortunately the conditions are unacceptable. No sand in any of the bunkers on the East Course. Tee boxes are in the worst shape of any course I have ever seen or played. This is all a recent phenomenon as the course was in fantastic shape a mere few years ago and then some slow falloff until this year. I have played fours rounds this season here and each one was worse in terms of overall course conditions. This is really a shame. The course layout is challenging and fun when maintained. Now its full of bunkers with no sand and uneven, poorly maintained tee boxes with weeds literally growing on most boxes up tp your calfs. Its no longer enjoyable and I won't be back.

I enjoy playing Royce Brook from time to time, as i take a break from playing Neshanic, but i feel there needs to be a Ranger monitoring not only the pace of play, but some of the unnecessary hijinks that go on. Beer cans left on tee boxes, carts being parked on or near greens, carts riding on par 3 fairways, etc...

The course was not in great shape compared to a month ago, and these type of things accelerate that . On one hole on the back nine, along a fence separating the course from a business, there’s tons of empty beer cans thrown into the brush. No reason for that nonsense.

Terrible day out today. I understand it's a holiday and pace of play will be affected, so I'm not gonna dock them that it took 5 and a half hours to get us around 18, although the starter only rolled by us once at around the 16th. I do however have a huge issue with the value presented. We paid about $97 a person for 18 holes with carts included. The course is in disarray. Players have not been repairing ball marks on the greens, however besides that they were in ok shape, but for that price a round, I expect excellence. Neshanic valley is not far from this course and they seem to have no issues. The tee boxes were all in terrible shape, not only are they mostly dirt, but for some reason, the greens crews were watering them all day, so most are just a muddy mess. Why are you watering greens and tee boxes mid day? Traveling from the second to third hole, we even had the sprinklers turned on us directly and got soaked. This is just unacceptable. Rough was very unkempt and patches of missing rough around many greens. All the sand traps were basically mud, some with huge puddles in the middle of them, and it hasn't rained in almost a week. Honestly, I wouldn't mind playing a course in this condition if I knew what I was getting into and the value matched the course. $97 pp for a round at a course in this condition is just ridiculous. I don't think we'll be back. Plenty of public courses in the area are in way better condition with much lower greens fees to boot.

I expected a good round as it wasn't my first time here. However getting sprayed in the face with sprinklers in the tee box wasn't fabulous. Every tee box was a mud puddle at best. The course is challenging but very slow pace after to awful tee box and so many greens with sprinklers running as you hit into them it's really difficult to tell if the course is any good with the pace of play for a round.

The tee boxes on the East have recently been aerated and there’s barely any grass on them. Also they were soaked with. I recent rain and a mid morning tee time. This shouldn’t be the case. The greens are rittled in divots and the sand traps are atrocious. Too much inconsistency with this course. It feels like they are not going to keep up to the standard it once had now that it’s been said they sold the course to a developer for housing. Your better off playing at other courses for less. Not worth the price to play there.

Love the layout. Challenging yet scoreable. Don’t play after big rain. Course very slushy. TEE boxes are a shambles right now. Greens were slow post a big rain.

I’ve played Royce Brooke every year for last 5-6 years. This year the course wasn’t in great condition. The tee boxes were terrible. Many of the traps were basically mud. For 100$, definitely not worth it. Won’t be returning this year.

Typically this has been in great condition but today I realized this doesn’t drain that well. Tee boxes need work. Fun challenging layout. Great staff. Worthy of a few rounds for sure. Add to rotation

There is a need for 100, 150 and 200 well marked yard markers ... .... Had a very hard time trying to figure out the yardages

Nice layout but terrible conditions. I've played better courses for $30. If they knew anything abut course conditions they would know they dont have a $70 golf course here or anything close to it.
