Royce Brook Golf Club - East Golf Course

WE PLAYED THE EAST COURSE.

FOR WHAT YOU CHARGE I THINK THE COURSE SHOULD BE IN BETTER SHAPE.. THE TEE BOXES HAD WEEDS GROWING OUT THAT YOU COULD HAVED USED FOR TEES.

JUST DISAPPOINTED FOR THE COAST

The course was somewhat challenging and for the most part in reasonable condition. The tee boxes were in need of repair. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The only point is whether the course is worth the cost. For the price, would have liked slightly better conditions.

I love Royce Brook and fully intend to play it next year but right now, the East Course is trashed. Huge burn out spots in the fairway. Traps don’t look like they have been raked this year. The staff was real friendly and I hope they have a change to get this wonderful course back in shape. The hamburgers at the half way are to die for and

The drinks were cold. Unfortunately, Most northern NJ courses seem to be in similar shape.

This course was terribly kept and a did not have a nice look. They clearly don’t care at all about this course. You your money and go else where like Neshanic. Over all terrible course!

The course is beat up in a lot of spots especially bunkers and tees. Greens roll nice despite LOTS of unrepaired ball marks. Also, the Golfnow details indicate you will get a GPS cart which isn’t true. All and all it is a good layout and pretty fun track to play. I hope the conditions improve as we move out of the extreme summer weather

Conditions of practice areas and tees were not good. Greens were particularly bad. It seems that no one who plays the course bothers to fix their ball marks. I usually play Mercer County courses which are in better shape and have better value. Interesting layout, and can be challenging from back tees. Has promise, just not today.

Ive played Royce Brook at least a half dozen times over the years. This was the worst experience i have ever had. The course was in DREADFUL condition. I played at 12:10 PM and the course was horrible. The lauiut is of course still great the the condition was BAD.

Fairways: many of them has worn gras and HUGE brown outs and chewed up swaths of ground. They were awful.

Teeboxes: again dreadful. Chewed up. Crab grass. Huge sections with grass at all. Uneven on two holes. COMPLETLEY POOR condition.

Greens: ball marks everywhere. Looked like people with metal spikes had been trapsing all over them. Multiple holes had big sections by the fringe with almost no grass and big brown sections.

Pace of play: the round took 5 hours 10 minutes. We had to wait on virtually every hole after the fourth.

This is NOT the course i grew accustomed to and I wont go back unless i get a very very different descriotion from someone who plays it before i even consider going back. This was a bad experience.

Tee boxes needed work and all of the bunkers even more work

The greens were in good shape and rolling fairly good. The fairways (a few of them) leave some to be desired. They were missing great and down to the dirt. The bunkers need to have same added as they seem to be more of a hard pan with a lot of stones. To much potential to damage your clubs.

I was able to spend the day with my brothers and that kind of made the day enjoyable.

This once proud public layout is a mess. Unplayable bunkers, dirt tee boxes. I wouldn't pay $25 to play here again. They must be planning on selling g off the land to developers.

Have played this course a couple of times a year for over 10 years. They had the audacity to charge me an extra $15 to ride in a solo cart when they have zero sand in the bunkers. Zero. Mud and rocks. Greens and tees were awful. Absolutely my last round at Royce Brook. They've gone from being a fairly high end public course to a $30 a round muni. Sad to see.

Hadn’t played Royce Brook East in nearly 18 months. Very disappointed. Tee boxes and most of fairways were bare and worn. Rough was not cut properly such that there wasn’t a first cut. as such drives just off fairway were in 4” rough. sand traps were inconsistent, some had good sand, others were full of rocks and stones. Greens were in good conditions and mostly rolled true. round took 4.5 hours as group in front was slow and no ranger to move them along.

refreshment cart made several rounds and that was welcome on a very hot day.

Billy Casper golf should be embarrassed by the course conditions. i know the property is being developed, but this was not worth the money. won’t be back

Worst course I have ever played in my life and that’s almost 20 years of playing. Tee box’s had weeds growing on them rough was 7-10 inches taller than it should be good luck finding your ball. Fairways had huge bare spots on them and the greens had more ball marks than there chipping practice green sand traps were full of water and if they weren’t they were mud

Cool layout... Disappointing conditions. I hope it’s has been addressed, but the the rough was terrible! They don’t bother to cut the grass and I lost at least 5 balls that were in play, but plugged/in the rough and couldn’t find them. Also, most of the greens had ball marks everywhere and not top shape for the price you pay. I hear the West course is better. East not worth it for the value and current shape it’s in. Way overpriced. Save your money and frustration and play a different course.

First time playing in a number of years. When measured against the other courses I played in the strange 2020 season, something is not right at Royce Brook. Course condition has fallen way off. Tee boxes dying, fairways ok but rough very uneven. Lots of overgrowth everywhere.

The course was fun to play. But conditions were rough. Fairway had a lot of muddy areas. Sand traps were unplayable. But overall, it is a very nice course. And in their defense it rained in the morning.
