Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

worth the ride
was raining for days and the course was in awesome condition........
Great layout and good condition except for the greens
Great public course but the greens were slow and bumpy. Hard to get the ball rolling.
Full Price For AERATED Greens
I am extremely disappointed in my last round at Neshanic Valley. A friend and I went up late afternoon and Neshanic charged us full price for greens fees only for us to get to the first green and find it completed massacred by aeration holes and top soil. Ball marks everywhere. Furthermore, about 11 holes through after being stuck behind a foursome that was hitting it sideways and clueless on pace of play, it began pouring. We decided to go in and see if we could get a 9-hole rain check. The response from the guy in the shop was "You've got to be kidding me." So not only did they charge full boat for a course in horrendous shape, they were very unfriendly. Listen, its a decent public golf course, the layout is very mundane but generally in good shape. Think they are a little high on their horse.
Doesn’t get better than this
One of the best county courses you will find anywhere. Keep it on the fairway and you can have a great round. Watch out for the rough though it will eat your ball alive beautiful country setting that should not be missed
Needs water on the course
The course is in terrific shape (ridge and meadow). They offered a challenge by requiring a number of placement shots. Greens were very nice with some tough pin positions. We were told that they were rolling slow but once you get past the first few, they were similar. The rough was thick and made It difficult to locate the ball and to but out of once you had the opportunity. Overall the course was worth the play at the golf now price. Think the standard greens fees are high being out of county.
While the course was fun to play, there is no water on the course which makes playing on hot days a bit tougher. Bring enough with you to drink as you won't find water on the course. The starter was very friendly while the pro shop and grill staff were a little indignant.
A pleasure!
Great course. Drove 1:45 to play this for first time and was not disappointed! Conditions were ideal and lush. Tees fairways and greens were in excellent condition. (People still need lesson on fixing ball marks) smooth rolls and tricky greens. Well worth the ride and will do it again soon!
The golfers should treat these beautiful courses better
We played the Ridge course and, for the first time, the Lake course. Both were maintained to the highest standards. All the courses, but especially the Ridge, have beautiful views of the valley and mountains.
However, the golfers who play these beautiful course could use a few lessons in fixing ball marks on the greens and replacing divots. You remember the old saw about repairing your ball mark and one other, well on some holes yesterday I fixed mine and 5 others.
Keep your ball out of the fescue.
The pace was also poor. 2:40 to play the Ridge. The round was 5:00-5:10.
To sum it up, these are excellent golf courses well worth playing.
Beautiful course
Cannot say enough how beautiful the course is and how well it is laid out. Looking forward to playing again soon. I have a few concerns regarding the pace of play on the front nine and the players behind us not offering the courtesy of some privacy on the tee box.
challenging but not to difficult , but you need to stay in the fairways
Great layout.
Neshanic is always in great shape and the layout is terrific.
0-9 handicapper will be challenged from the tips.
Greens are in great shape right now.
The ball rolls smoothly but they aren't overly quick.
Bunkers are very firm, but well maintained.
The only negative? No drinking water on the course
A great challenge !!
A beautiful 27 hole complex with friendly staff.
Course is in excellent condition with true roll greens providing a nice challenge.
The jewel
Simply the fantastic and beautiful golf course. But staff at the desk have some attitude problem, something very similar to government office workers. After all, it is a county course. Other than that, it’s a gem.
Great Course Play When You Can
Definitely recommend this course. It's a little expensive this time of year but a very well kept course. No complaints at all. Play it if you can.
Great course
One of the best courses in the area. Only criticism is that the rough was thick and deep and easy to lose golf balls only a few feet off fairways.
But overall one of the best courses
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Sane rhing when I was there. Its like they were doing you the favor of paying almost $100 for a round.
