Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

Great layout and the condition of the course was very good.
There was no one on the course, but they would not let us go out early. The staff or maybe the policy is “ Golf Now “ must go out at the tee time. Not friendly towards Golf Niw players.
Played after a lot of rain
Visited for North Carolina and when in the area I try to play this course. There had been a lot of rain in the last few weeks and days but the course was in great shape. However you did not want to be in the rough because it was not cut. The greens were very smooth a bit slower than usual but expected. Pace of play was slow due to playing partners looking for balls and all the other groups. Highly recommended this course
Nice course
If you're not a resident of Somerset county it is very costly to play this course. GolfNow offers an attractive alternative to rack rate. I hadn't played here for over 7 years and glad I returned. Over all conditions were very good. I don't know if they are planning on holding a US Open qualifier here, but from the depth and thickness of the rough, I'd guess so. This detracts from the playability of the course. Greens were running at a descent speed and besides the ever present unrepaired ball marks, were in good shape. It was a hot day, close to 90, when I played. Why they elected not to put out drinking water is beyond me.
Great layout... but...
Course was great and I'll go back
BUT
Greens were rolling true but a little slow. It was hot so I get it.
Bunkers inconsistent and generally not raked so I was in footprints twice in three times. The third was hard as a cart path
We finished in 4 hours at about 7:15 and wanted to go have a beer but they close the bar at 5
Sun goes down at 8:30 and they close at 5?
ryang yoon
great course, great staffs. want to play the lake course next time.
Very nice county course
Great condition and nice location...... I hear that it's losing money and it's easy to see why. I wouldn't want to have a private club nearby and try to compete against an operation like this. Great for the golfers, bad for the non golfing taxpayer. The range looked very nice as well. Didn't eat in the lounge which was small. Very nice venue.
Great Course but the GolfNow apps GPS doesnt work here
Neshanic Valley Golf Course
This was a beautiful course.
But the GolfNow apps GPS did not work properly for this course.
There are three (3) sets of 9 holes and I believe an academy course.
The app only had the academy course and I could not get it to recognize either of the two 9 hole courses I played (the Ridge and the Meadow).
Hopefully they will resolve this with the next update.
Beautiful
Such a great course. Even though they had recently did airation, the course was still in great shape. We also have about 2 inches of rain the day before, but there was no signs of that the next day. Great job to the crew there.
Enjoyable - 1st time out since November
Good time. Greens slow and a few bumpy probably due to sand put down.
Completely understandable and just glad to be out there
Beautiful course
Several challenges to deal with from elevation, water, and traps. A well designed course which is also appealing to the eyes.
Early Season Hot Deal
I really needed a hot deal after this winter and was surprised that Neshanic Valley was even open, let alone a $34 hot deal! Turned out to be a great day. About 5f warmer than expected. It was windy and this links style course doesn't have huge protection from wind. Conditions of the course were what you would expect pre-season. All the fescue is down so it was a bit easier to be errant off the tee and still find it. Greens are really nice and will be fantastic in full season. Today they ran true but were very slow due to the shagginess. Surprisingly smooth too.
Surprise golf round in the windy February
It is a cold windy afternoon in NJ. I am very happy to be able to play golf even a lot of house still without power. The course condition is surprisingly good. Course condition is not worse than that in the summer time.
March Madness :)
Playing golf in the Northeast in March is always a good thing. The course has an amazing layout and the openness and views are really pretty. The wind was an issue but the course was in amazing shape considering winter. The greens were rolled that day and the fairways and tee boxes were pristine. The staff was very polite. If I had any complaint it is that I arrived as a single at 11:05 AM for my round and was put with 3 other golfers and although the course was empty they still made us wait 50 minutes until our scheduled 12:10 PM tee time. That is not anything terrible that would sway me from not going back again. I look forward to making this one of my 10 courses to play during the season this year.
