Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
About
The 27-hole Neshanic Valley Golf Course is the flagship course of the Somerset County Park Commission system. The renowned design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry created the course. Divided into three nines known as the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow, the course provides three different 18-hole combinations. Each par-36 nine has five different sets of tees. The Meadow/Lake Course features ample amounts of fescue along both the fairways and greens. If you don't hit straight off the tees, you may find yourself in some trouble. There are cavernous bunkers framing the greens, which are also subtly sloped for even more of a challenge. The golf course begins and ends with water holes but you'll find environmentally sensitive wetland areas that come into play throughout. In addition to the 27-hole course, Neshanic Valley also has a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course.

RIDGE TO MEADOW....ALWAYS FUN n GOOD TEST
always enjoy playing neshanic, always a fair course. you swing well make good scores....game a little off...not so much. lake is still my favorite 9 out of the 3
Not bad for winter
The course was in good shape considering it was 45 degrees and windy. Anytime you can play golf in January is a good time
Lake/Ridge
Downright balmy out there today. Course was in very good condition throughout. Little on the the pricey side for non-county players.
Above Average Course
Weather was perfect the day I played. The course was decidedly "Meh." The turf was well maintained, firm, and playing fantastic. But the holes, strategy, and so forth were just average. I'm struggling to remember any of the holes, which is telling because there are some very average courses that I haven't played in many years where I can still remember most of the holes. Overall, the course is a bit above average and inoffensive, though not memorable.
Decent, But not Great
Said to be a top 5 course in NJ. I found the course to be just above average. Nothing bad, but certainly not great. The course has very little flow, the holes are off, some of them around ponds are just disasters.
My new favorite
Haven't played here much, bit will be next year. Beautiful scenery, pace and people are great. A good spot if you are a decent golfer.... You will enjoy this course.
amazing and fun course
. All 3courses are challenging but my favorite is lake.. overall Simply amazing course..
Played by myself - Very Slow.
I booked a Team time Deal. There was only one player available. So I assumed that meant I would be joining 3 others. When I checked in with the starter, I was told I would be playing by myself. Took 2 hours and 20 minutes to play Nine holes. By myself. I left after 9 holes. If I didn't book through Golf Now, I wouldn't have played, but I didn't have an option as I paid Golf Now directly in advance. I guess this is just something to watch out for if you use Golf Now. You may not be playing by yourself even if the only available tee time is for 1 for your tee time.
Excellent course
Unfortunately our round was curtailed due to rain.. but having played the course before it looked to be in great shape as usual
Excellent course, but normal price is high
I have wanted to play Neshanic Valley since it opened, but always balked at the price. However, I was able to get a $28 GolfNow Hot Deal so jumped on it. I am glad I did because the course is in excellent shape and well worth playing.
The fairways, greens, tee boxes, and grass in the rough are all equal to country club conditions. My only (minor) complaint about the condition of the course is that the bunkers are not on par with everything else. It had rained the day before and many bunkers were muddy. Furthermore, even dry spots in some bunkers were more dirt than sand. However, several bunkers were really nice. Overall, the bunkers have an inconsistent quality.
The course is a nice challenging layout, but not extremely difficult. Many of the fairways are pretty wide, but primarily on the longer holes. Fairway and greenside bunkers are strategically located to make it important to have an accurate tee shot (and 2nd shot on par 5's). The rough is very playable, but many holes have high fescue grass not far off the fairway - if you hit it in the fescue, you have a lost ball.
Now that I have played once, I will definitely play Neshanic Valley again.
Terrific shape tee to green
Course was extremely fair. Fairways afford the average golfer a chance to score. Greens held and were fast but not unputtable. From the gold tees it was a challenge for a 13 handicap. I will definitely play it again but on weekday when it is less crowddd and cheaper.
...also, forgot my GPS in the cart, called a couple of days later and they saved it for me, thank you
