The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Course is in Excellent Condition
I have played the Architects often over the years. The condition of the course was excellent, and the layout is very good. I am not sure what to say about the pace of play---- i waited on almost every shot as a twosome, but the round still only took 4 hours. So while i would have liked to play faster, the total time of the round was fine.
Worth the trip
True links course, but play the right tees, a lot of blind shots and forced carries, and greens where fast and in perfect shape
Architect's Review
This course is by far one of the very best in NJ. I enjoyed both nines equally. It was quite warm and humid and if it was any other inferior course I would not have finished 18 holes. Green were not too tough although they were a little wet which fooled me on lag putts all day. Fairways were in perfect shape and the rough was not incredibly high, which was a surprise because most other golf courses I have played this year the rough was way to high for my liking. All in all it was a good round of golf on a very good golf course.
Greens
I would go back, however, with about 20 bag boys on hand they could possibly make better use of them. The greens were littered with ball marks, while not the staff's fault, a little proactive show of support and a reminder to fix your ball mark would go a long way. Greens were slow, but I guess by design with amount of play. With that said, well worth the money and the 18 different designers is really a cool idea.
A must play
Architects is a must play course. Very friendly staff. Very nice club house and locker room.
Bunkers need a ton of work, but the rest of the course was in very good shape.
Pace of play very slow
A very reasonable price for a round of golf, but an almost 6 hour round, it was obvious the course was packing in too many players. At one time 4 groups on same hole. Marshals were unable to speed up play as according to them every hole was the same.
While course was in generally good condition the bunkers were like pieces of rock.
Beautiful Course
The course was in great shape given all the rain we have had this year so far. The only downside were a few of the bunkers, they were washed out and lacking sand. I will be looking forward to playing here again soon.
Bunkers need work
Bunkers/traps need sand and care not in the best condition, rest of course is ok.
Fun Course
Each hole is designed in the style of a famous golf architect with plaques on every hole telling you whose design is being used. If you keep it in the fairway, you'll have a great time.
Beautiful, challenging, well-maintained course
Playing Arcitechts for the first time, I couldn't enjoy the "theme" - each hole is in the fashion of one of the great golf course architechts, beginning with the first great architecht, Old Tom Morris. I think I'd have to be a regular there to begin to appreciate the evolution in course design. To me, they were just 18 beautiful holes.
The only downside was the distance, about 70 miles from Bergen County, pretty close to the NJ/PA line.
Great design
Greens had some ball marks, but overall ran smoothly and were fairly quick. Rest of the course was in great shape.
A MUST PLAY course
Great day- especially with the bonus of finishing up at 4:50 & Haapy Hour & All You Can Eat BBQ started at 5:00!!
No matter what you read on the greens, play your putts to break to the mountain & enjoy!
Nice track
Nice track, great staff...the only suggestion would be GPS or yardage sticks in the fairways, it would speed up in improve the overall experience!
GREAT COURSE
PGA golf pro played with my two boys. The golf course was awesome. Great holes great shape
Gorgeous course
Course is well taken care of. Always in great shape. Beautiful fairways and greens. Fun and challenging layout.
Immaculate
I don't believe I have played a nicer course in my lifetime. Aesthetically flawless. The play was wonderful, and while it was challenging, was very pleasant to play. Would recommend highly
Perfect
Great course from tee to green. I have booked about 20 different courses through golfnow and This course is the cream of the crop. Tee boxes and fairways are perfect. The greens are lightning fast which I love. The day we played was cart path only which is fine I much rather walk to the ball rather then tear up the course. I will be back.
This is a wonderful course
Excellent course with some challenging holes. The course is in very good condition.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoy the restaurant and bar after your round!
Only area that needs improvement are the bunkers. They have very little sand.
Beautiful layout
This course always have beautiful designs, but the sands werehorrible. Some super hard and muddy, others were all wash out. Need immediate attention before more bad reviews.
