The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Beautiful coarse in great condition, great staff, if they could only ...
Fill the ball washers with water guys... They have been bone dry all season !!!!! ... Thanks ....
A must play .....
Great layout ( obviously) but also kept in great condition. Greens here were rolling true. Very scenic. If you in the area or can get here easily then Play it. Every level of golfer will enjoy it. Very challenging from championship tees. Only negative...Bunkers needs help with more sand or something.
I noticed green fees can run upto $100 for weekend which is bit too much for me and probably won't play at that fee but they seem to have specials all the time or early morning.
A Nice Tribute Course
My family and I played this past weekend on 6/14 and it was a hot one for sure. So being completely drained from the sun and heat, I still have mostly nice things to say about Architects. We got on for $69/ea which was the hot deal and probably the right price for the course. Normal rates always show between $99-$109 so I thought this was a steal. Me personally, for the 1 hour drive to get here from PA, I wouldn't come back unless paying less than $70. It's a nice track but I was honestly expecting a little more for the normal rates they are putting out. So here is my overall review:
Facilities - Pro shop and restaurant were nice and there was a nice size patio for outdoor seating as well which looked nice, if it was not in the mid-90's outside. Bathroom was small and ok I guess. At the turn they had a guy on an actual grill cooking which was a nice change and certainly raise the quality of food for me. BIG hotdogs... nice! No cheese or fixings for the burgers.... not so nice! Best turn so far in the 10 rounds I played this year though. We did not stay after the round because they had an event and we were just to sweaty and what not for hanging around.
The Course - Very nice I thought. I starts out short and get longer throughout the day. Tee's, fairways and approaches were all cut nicely. The green's were challenging and on the faster side of the greens I've played which is how I like them. Only downside on the course besides the pace which was to be expected on a Sun and with the temp as high as it was, was the yardage markers. For a $109 course, I was expecting GPS in the carts.. nope. They did try to sell me a yardage booklet though and hindsight may have been worth it because there was not too many marked sprinkler heads out there so for a new course, some shots were difficult to club myself. The bunkers need some sand love for sure... very hard in most places making it tough to get out and hold a green.
The Staff - All of the staff was extremely nice. They had 2 different beverage carts on the course with plenty of ice and drinks. We must have seen them 4 times each which was nice. Also saw a heavy dose of rangers on just about every other hole trying to keep pace of play which was nice as well.
Overall we had a really good experience at this course. The distance and cost probably take the course off of my radar for a repeat this year but is a place to play if you can catch a hot deal, IMO.
Worth thee ride
Shopped around in the morning and got such a good price that we decided to make the drive (1 hr. 20 minutes) in spite of thunderstorm chance.
Wise decision. Course was in great shape, staff pleasant and friendly and the biggest surprise is that on a crowded Sunday afternoon we only had to wait twice for about two minutes and played the round in right around four hours.
My last Architects round
I have played this course for years and this was the first time I encountered such rudeness by the golf staff, especially the over the top presence by the marshals on the course who consistently were following us around and at one stage drove up to me and parked literally 5 feet away from me while I was playing my shot. We were not playing slowly nor did we have anyone behind us. I think this is the last time I will play here. Green need a lot of work too. With so many choices of golf clubs, I would chose somewhere else.
Excellent value!
Have played it every Thursday afternoon at 3:45 for the past month. Greens are really starting to roll well. Never have to wait, average round approx. 3 1/2 hours. Fairways are excellent but the bunkers lack sand and rakes! Yardage is hard to find, but that's not a major deal breaker. Overall, feel like 40.00 is a fair price for 18 cart and range balls included.
OVER BOOKED!!
I played this course for the first time. it was very nice the club house the condition the course was in and the staff. They definitely over booked themselves it took 5 hours to play. The pace of play ruined my experience and enjoyment of the course. If I play this course again I will make sure I'm one of the first groups out this way I don't have to wait before every shot.
WOW!!
This was the first time I played this cource and I will be going back. The cource was beautiful. It make other cources look like dog tracks. Everyone was very friendly. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and most of the greens were in excellent shape. I drove an hour for the round and was not disappointed at all. I am going back.
Nice cent course. That's it.
Course has nice layout and is usually in pretty good shape. Staff is usually curt and unfriendly, today was nothing different. Went as a single and they rushed me into playing the first whole so I could catch the guy who had tee'd off 10 minutes prior. Ranger rode in the cart with me so I could get into the cart with my new playing partner. He said he had to take my cart because it was Friday and they wouldn't have enough. The rest of the round we had to follow a fivesome using 4 carts between them. Really like playing the course but probably won't be going back because of the way I am treated every time by the staff.
Terrible pace
We had a tee time of 3:18. It was so backed up we teed off at 4:00. First 6 holes were ok but after that every hole was a 10 min wait. No rangers to push the slow moving groups ahead of us. Course was beautiful but pace is terrible. I would not go there again!!!
Great Play on a rainy day!
Played on the tail end of 2 days of rain that dropped 2" on the course. While there were some wet areas in low spots the course was in great shape. Got a hot deal of only $15 at 4pm. While it was cart path only we still played in 3 hours. Fairways are like carpet and the greens rolled true. Sands traps were like concrete due to the water but in truth they are always a little thin on sand. Lots of interesting holes that make you fit in some long approch shots at times. Will certainly go back again.
Fun Course, Great Concept
First, quick note about that course. "The Architects" pays tribute to many of the most influential golf architects. Holes are designed with the architects' trademark features. Notice the green complex at 13, modeled after the style of Alister Mackenzie, which resembles 13 at Augusta.
While the course does have some trees, it's more or less open and usually windy,. The greens usually roll pretty smoothly and with decent pace, rough is typically healthy and thick, and the bunkers often in good shape.
Speaking of bunkers...I feel they are strategically placed...especially the fairways bunkers as they seem to catch many a stray tee shot.
Play during the week or late in the day for a better value. They get $109 on weekend mornings!
Course is in great shape
Only got to play 9 thunderstorm came and washed out back 9 for us, but course is in great shape greens are rolling very true fairways cut and rough thick.
Ambivalent Management
Gorgeous day, crowded beyond belief. Have played the course many times, first time this year. Bunkers were very much in need of additional sand, hard and shallow. Very few rakes, VERY FEW. And did I mention it was a 5 1/2 hour round?! No rangers moving things along, NONE. After actually enduring and completing my round I shared my experience with the head pro / GM not sure who he was, young guy likely under 25 years old. After initially trying to explain that "that's public course golf" I told him that for $109 a round I expect to at leas have rangers trying to keep up pace of play, there were none. After going back and forth he offered me a discount on my next round, $14.67 ... huh? I told him that I expected to receive a curtesy replay round credit to which he said he couldn't do that, well that's what a good manager would have done. Hence, I WILL NOT be returning to the Architects Club.
Un-Godly Slow
This is a great course. Unfortunately, the management is doing less and less to keep the pace of play up.
Played Saturday tee-off at 10:30 on a whim with a free pass from the wife and finished at 3:45. Yes, that's 5 hours and 15 minutes. My wife wasn't too happy I was gone the entire day. That is just absolutely ridiculous. Not a ranger in sight. Not staffing for rangers on a weekend is simply inexcusable and shows a real lack of caring about golfer's experience. I do recommend this course as I do enjoy the layout, howver, I suggest not playing on a weekend or if you are play early!
great fun!
5 of us drove 90 minutes for 6:20 tee time. worth the time and effort. great course, the views and the play.
What a great course
I really enjoy playing this course. I have been paired up with so many good people. For the money I would always play here.
Interesting
Course challenges you every shot, but wide open and fair. Greens aerated two weeks prior but still pretty good.
Fun Layout
Great layout and super fun course to play. The greens are coming back from aeration but you can still see small holes. Overall they rolled pretty well. The course could use some TLC, fairways were a little ratty and there were 4 inch dandelions growing in the short grass. They couldn't have grown overnight so it needs a good cut and some manicuring. Awesome course overall, great driving holes.

Bad greens?? Lol you must like putting on broccoli. Those greens were probably best you ever were on. Just because you can't putt, you shouldn't think greens are bad man
