The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

Great course
Hadn't had the opportunity to play this course in a few years and it was much better than I remembered. It is a course to keep it in the fairway as the rough was quite rough.
Can't wait until I can get back and play there again.
Amazing course that is not only challenging but forgiving; awesome Staff Too!!
Great course that is not only challenging but forgiving when you need it to be. The course is beautifully kept and the greens are true. Also talk to the staff because they know little tidbits about the course and hints how to deal with it. Definitely playing here again.
One of the best public golf courses in New Jersey!!
Course is in excellent condition from tee to green. Four different sets of tees allows you to make it as challenging as you want. Public course that gives you the feel of an exclusive private course.
Excellent course and value. Highly recommended.
My two friends and I were extremely happy with our first experience at Architects. $50 got us carts, range balls and a great course on a busy holiday weekend. Despite only being a threesome, the pace of play was solid and we finished in just over 4 hours.
We were a bit concerned about the greens prior to our round, because the practice putting green was bumpy and beat up. However, the greens on the course were smooth, well-maintained and reasonably quick for a course getting so much play. We also thought the course may be "gimmicky" given its concept of modeling famous course designers, but found the course to be great in its own right with a really fun and challenging layout.
Even though it takes us about 90 minutes to drive there we all agreed we would visit Architects again in a heartbeat. The people were friendly, down to earth, and the BBQ food at the turn was good too. Definitely not an easy course to play without any local knowledge, and we liked that we fell into some of the traps set out for us. Well-designed and a great value. We will be back!
Great course and facility
Overall very pleased with the course. Greens were loaded with ball marks never repaired by the patrons....worst part. Well the bunkers were also quite inconsistent with the amount of sand but there's been a lot of rain in this area which probably has affected their play-ability. Otherwise I always enjoying playing the Architects course. And by booking through Golf Now we saved $10 on the greens fee!
great views all over
i couldnt have been happier playing this course.Every hole is great with many different looks throughout the course/ I would highly reccomend this course.
Best Course I've Played in NJ
Course is in fantastic shape. Lots of sand and fescue waiting for mis-hits. I think it's the best layout in NJ that I've played so far. Hit every club in the bag.
Very good experience.....
Great course, with some challenging shots. Very friendly staff that made it a very good experience. The back nine backed up a little but that is because a lot of guy think they're heroes and wait for par 5's to clear when they clearly cannot reach.
The course layout was very nice and the fairways and greens were in good shape.
Architects is an interesting course with 18 holes from different designers. Most holes are wide open but beware of the fescue or tall rough if you're off the fairway. My only negatives are that the pace of play was slow, taking 5 hrs to finish 18 holes and the course layout is not on the scorecard. This was my first time playing Architects and overall a good experience. I would play here again.
Great elevation changes but little to no blind shots.
Well maintained, great layout. The bunkers were a little crusty; could use a bit more sand (which isn't in keeping with the rest of the course conditions). Very accomodating staff, good pace of play - I like the 10 minute tee times.
Stellar test of golf skills
Played em all---and this course is a real good one
Long -short-up-down...Challenging to all levels
Poor condition
The bunkers are in total disrepair, the greens are slow and bumpy, and the par 3 teeboxes are divot minefields.
A course everyone should play at least once
I love this course although I struggle through some challenging holes.
On Fathers Day I played and found it especially difficult because the rough had not been cut after the rains. Also parts of some fairways where little "weedy". My standards for this course are especially high because in the past it has been in pristine condition.
well kept, nice view, beautiful greens
I enjoyed the course and it was well maintained. We had a ton of rain a few days before, yet course was not shaggy and was cut nicely. Greens were fantastic and a nice true roll. Would play again, although maybe $10-20 too expensive.
overall very good great layout and good greens
I like this layout and play it whenever it is discounted. The day we played was still very wet from 4-5 inches of rain the day before, so it was not a fair test. the green were a bit slow and there was no release even on the fairways.
Overall quite good and the pace of play even with cart path only was not too bad.
Great conditions
List was difficult to understand. It had 18 and 9 hole tee times. Did not know what I was going to pay for at the course. Should have two separate listing. Thank you.
dense, deep grass around greens and bunkers were to firm
I had a hard time chipping the ball around the greens and had difficultly making a dent in the bunkers. One time I went back to rake my foot prints and could not find them. The traps seemed
like they had not been raked in a week and were very hard.
Wonderful Experience
I played here for the first time in late May, and I couldn't be more impressed. While I thought it could be gimmicky, all the holes flow extremely well together and it makes for good walking too.
The shape of the course was fantastic. From the fescue, deep rough, to pristine greens, there wasn't much more to ask for.
For the amount of golfers, they also kept a great pace of play. I must give great props to the starter and "ranger."
Incredible value for the price, and for those in NYC or Hoboken area, it only ends up being a 1hr drive with no traffic.
I'll be back
Slightly too expensive
The layout is fantastic, nice and open, but it is priced a little high. Overall a good experience.
