Deltona Club
About
The Deltona Club holds the distinction of being ranked as one of the top 20 public golf courses in Florida. The club has roots that date back to the late 1950s. It is a remake of one of the state's earliest planned communities. Bobby Weed redesigned the golf course, improving its aesthetic appeal and giving it more playability. The course sprawls across rolling hills that provide dramatic elevation changes throughout. It is a far cry from the many flat public courses that exist throughout Florida. The natural contours of the terrain helped determine the strategic placement of the numerous bunkers, many of which were added during Weed's renovation. The Deltona Club's parkland layout has an interesting mix of holes with some that even have the feel of a links course.

Course conditons
Course is lush and very playable greens are fast and rolled true.
Nice Folks . . . but course?
As a single digit and someone who appreciates nice greens as previously advertised, I was more disappointed then anything else. Firstly, the range had some grass, but not anything resembling thick grass. The balls were so old, dirty and badly used that I only hit half of them. Don't they wash them after a pick?
The wagons of sand on the range were some what amusing to me.
I really liked the starter Dale. Nice as heck and offered me a chance to play with the Old Men Golf League he is a part of. I have to admit I would play just cause of Dale's approach. The pace of play was excellent for a Sunday AM tee time and the regulars in front of me moved along fast.
But back to the course. The layout is fairly good, have to confess on the 2nd tee I had no idea it was a dogleg right up the hill. I looked straight out at the 9th green and said that looks right until I saw the group in front of me leaving the 2nd green when I got to the 2nd shot. There are no hole markers on the tee boxes and I can't remember seeing the course layout on the scorecard, which would have helped.
The front 9 has some good holes, including 7 and 8 which had risk/reward on each hole.
The back 9 was a little disappointing, and the condition was below average. I do like the tee shot on several holes, but there is just poor grass in the fairways. The 2 Par 3's were longer 1 shot holes from the blue tees so it was two challenging tee balls and they were nice looking shots on the tee box. The problem with Deltona is it is just NOT well-conditioned whether your in the fairway or when you miss your approach shot you are sitting somewhere between a moon landing area or mortar bombed war field and that's not even taking the unraked bunkers/waste areas into consideration.
Finally, the greens were green and in healthy shape, but really spongy and NOT FAST at all. I had read all these reviews how they were great greens, but not on this day. They are punching them tomorrow, so maybe it was just bad timing.
Overall, I would like to play it again, probably for less than $50.00 (which included a bucket of dirty vintage Nike range balls). One note, the outside ops guy brought my cart to the parking lot as I arrived. Love to see that kind of service. Maybe he wished he could have been washing his dirty balls instead, (no pun intended).
Good Luck with the aerification Deltona.
No Water Hazards. But Let Me Tell You About the Sand.....
Played this course for second time. Tee boxes and fairways are in good shape, and the greens are near perfect (we played seven different courses in 7 days, and these greens were the best of all of them). As the title states, there is sand everywhere, not just around the greens. The rough is even sandy. This course also has nice elevation changes, which is unique for a Florida course. Highly recommend this track.
Sandy
Course has lots of sand both Fairway and around greens but course is very solid greens in great condition
Sunday Fun Day
Ok I bean there for the last 6 weeks and I love the course so far… I’m looking to be come a member but I don’t think member need to pay that can of money (20.00) each time you play…..anyway today was a good day for me 89…..I play solo and was perfect
Great layout
Greens & fairways in excellent condition. Always enjoy playing this course. Great layout.
Good Shape
The course is in overall good shape. The greens are healthy, the fairways have a good grass. Teebox is decent. I play here a lot because it’s close to my home. The course is challenging with lots of elevation change and plays long. Make sure you play from the appropriate Teebox and you will enjoy it.
Victoria Hills Jr.
What is it with Volusia County courses (Victoria Hills and it's stepson Deltona Club)? Sand traps are one thing, but to smother a course with "sand traps" does not make the game enjoyable. We amateurs do not get the benefit of professional soft sand and when your sand traps are located all over the place (basically as re[placement for grass), especially on multiple hidden-green holes, it removes the fun factor. I live around the corner from Victoria Hills and about 10 minutes from Deltona...I will not be back to either.
Amazing
Loved the course. Definitely challenging beautiful condition.
Golf
This the second time playing @ this course and I love it I live 10 minutes from there and the conditions are beautiful, and I just find out the bathrooms need a little attention but overall not bad … also they have coolers with fresh water …. Anyway I score better today with my new clubs…. Keep the good work at this location once again ….. bathrooms need attention….Art Jose
