Desert Springs Resort boasts two championship courses designed by Ted Robinson, the Palms and the Valley. The golf courses are known for their beautiful setting, offering unrivaled views of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the Coachella Valley. The Valley Course is considered the less challenging of the two, but both offer a stunning landscape covered with swaying palms and blue lagoons. The course features player-friendly fairways that beginners will enjoy, but there are also a fair amount of challenges. Like on the Palms Course, there is plenty of water. Between the two golf courses, more than 35 acres of water features come into play in the form of man-made lakes and streams. In addition to the two courses, Desert Springs also offers an 18-hole putting course, which offers all the same challenges as the other courses including bunkers, water hazards, and undulating fairways.

Played here many times very nice, but this time they had 2 tournaments out and the pace was ridiculous so I quit after 10, still hoping to recoup some of my $180.00 to play, which is ridiculous.

Pace was very slow. No marshal to move the field

Service was poor and ignored customers. Won’t return to this course.

Day before shut down

The course was in the poorest condition i have seen having played many times. They had stopped watering in preparation for shut down to do course maintenance. I believe they should have reduced the rate significantly or not allowed play. They have a great reputation and this day was far below standards.

Course Conditions

Played both the Valley and Palm courses since the JW opened way back in the 1980’s. This time on the Valley was probably the worse I have seen the course. The bunkers had grass growing in them, the rough was recently cut and there was grass clippings all over the course. Fairways were good, greens rolled good. Just the overall appearance was not what you would expect from the JW course in Palm Desert. I understand it is end of season and soon over seeding.

Taken Back

Taken back by the condition of the course. Understand that this is the middle of summer but compared to other courses in the valley the greens were abysmally slow, the rough was grown too high for a resort course (I abandoned two ball on the course that were just off the fairway) and there were piles, yes piles of dead unpicked up layers of grass everywhere. A real disappointment considered this is one of my favorite courses to pay. Normally the $80 green fee would be fair but as for present condition $45 would be better

Grass clipping in the rough.

Course was in good shape for summer conditions however, the rough area had little piles of grass clippings all over the course. Seems like it would be that difficult to pick them up.

Beautiful!

A course in transition, rough but worth the effort! Locals don’t rake the traps, needs water.

Aeration Time

It's aeration time on most Desert course's in July and August ..Because the temperature is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit it's pretty wide open in terms of the pace of play. I played the Valley Course which is in better shape than the Palms Course. The greens were pretty bumpy and slow.

With all the other courses around Palm Springs, the Valley course wasn’t as picturesque as many courses. Lots of nutsedge weeds. Greens rolled true. Layout was interesting but not at resort level.

Disappointed

I have now played about 10 courses in the Coachella Valley and was quite disappointed with the course considering you can play the best in the Valley across the streets- Desert Willow.
