Lovely Monmouth back drop Photo submitted by OZwBwsLa9BHpwUNMO65O on 07/20/2020
Amateurish but you take the rough with the smooth
Definitely needs a lick of paint and some repairs!
Course very picturesque.
Trade off between a lovely (in the main) course (some attention to greens needed) to poor facilities. Reminded me of old working men’s club I frequented in the North East.
Group in front of us played intolerably slowly with an increasing stream of unfunny expletives. There is nothing better than seeing overweight people trying to work out their buggy can’t make it up a hill due to their collective bulk. Round took 5 hours!
Round survived.
Amazing Course
We drove 3 hours to get here for a round at this amazing course! anyone who wants a challenging course with great views should come here. The round trip was 6 hours and we are already organising our return. staff stayed open for us to serve us come lunch as they close kitchen at 3 but stayed open until nearly 4 to feed our group! have never experienced such amazing service at any golf course I've ever been to. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a nice round of golf with great food.
Great course
Hilly but fantastic course and holes, well maintained
Get a buggy
The course is lovely, great condition greens where a bit slow , we walked (never again) don’t think one hole was on the level nearest was 18th , every hole was either up hill or down hill loved playing and will definitely return ,but to fully enjoy get a buggy
Nice but a Hard Walk
Probably the hilliest course ive ever played , lots of picturesque nice holes going down but always steep climb holes back up , lots of plugging on fairways and greens even though weather hadnt been that wet , The course was quite wet probably because of all the hills. Greens ok quite slow. There was one dog leg hole ive neve seen anything like it was way past 90 degrees like a boomerang shape bizarre hole.
Not bad but definitely get a buggy if i return
Picturesque
Very friendly staff and lovely course using the contours of the land made some nice, interesting and challenging holes. Really enjoyed it and will be back. Some inclines but the next holes are then downhill so even unfit bloke like me got around ok by walking. I will be back 👍😀
18 holes and a hike
Nice course with some signature holes. Don’t be fooled by its short length as it’s slope rating is 128 and it's a real challenge. Speaking of slopes - without a doubt the hilliest course I’ve ever played - if you’re walking (as we were), prepare to be exhausted at various stages.
Really friendly members on the course and in the clubhouse later.
Played on a long weekend nearby, the only thing that would put me off playing there again were the hills - a great experience but be warned !!!
Half course out of play and no food
Because of rain course not fully open.
Kitchen closed too.
Experience could have been better!
Only half the course was open, if I had known I wouldn’t have bothered going as it was still £15 for 8 holes! And the winter tees were shocking. Does look like it would be nice in the summer but wouldn’t go in the winter again.
A Great Variation Of Holes
Played in absolutely atrocious conditions.
The course was in good condition considering the weather. Course laid out to the contours of the land and proved a good challenge greens were in good condition all be it a bit slow due to the water.
Caught up with a senior member Brian who invited me to join him in a 2 ball made me more than welcome.
Gave me a brief history of the course overall great value for money.
But please be golf fit to walk round or hire a buggy
Thanks Brian for the Coffee
Excellent little course
Excellent course layout and good challenge with all holes different
Tough hilly walk but worth it for the views on the back 9 holes , which are amazing
Bunkers small and pointless but easy to get out of
Pro shop now closed , practice facilities include net and putting green so good for a quick warm up
Staff very friendly
Course condition very good for the money
Great course
Great course, greens were really good and lots of interesting fairways.
Course guide would have helped when playing for the first time.
Highly recommended
Magnificent Monmouth a Welsh jewel.
Fabulous place to play golf when the weather is with you. A physical walk for older golfers but some great challenges
Hidden gem
A gem of a course. Don't let the yardage fool you, the elevation changes will test your game. Some really interesting holes, great greens and a wonderful setting. Three generations played together.......quite a tough walk for our most senior citizen as it is quite hilly, but worth it. Check-in etc was fine, staff and members friendly. Can see why they have so many buggies for hire, don't recommend hiring any of the trollies, but a very minor point.
Beautiful scenery, lovely staff and members.
warm welcome in the club house, well kept course. Scenery is stunning. Met some members out on the course who were also very welcoming! And a lovely spot to enjoy a drink overlooking the 18th. A great course overall and a true beauty on a sunny day.
