Great value for money course
We play as guests regularly, course is ideal for high handicappers
Good Value
Lovely course and good facilities in the Forest of Dean, just outside Coleford. Course playing well after the recent rain
Excellent Day Out
Lovely little course in the Forest of Dean, nice layout and greens were good after the recent rain.
Off course facilities good and staff very helpful and friendly. Would recommend for a day out
Weather was kind, Fellow Golfers Courteous …. A good round was had.
Very enjoyable.
Birds unfortunately were damaging the greens.
Nonetheless a course I like playing to build my confidence.
Pace of play was good.
Well worth playing!
Super Value Venue
Great setting with a lovely team at n shop and clubhouse. Always enjoyable with some quirky holes and challenges. Excellent value, particularly stay and play deals
Pace of play far too slow!!
It's always busy at the course, taking too long in general to get around 18 but today it took myself and my brother 4 hours to get through 13 holes before we just had no choice but to leave. It was 4 ball after 4 ball after 4 ball of mixed abilities. The issue was that some of the groups were not playing anywhere near ready golf and spent far too long between shots, one group spent 10 minutes on the green putting while we waited on the fairway and another 4 ball waited at the tee box! Club needs to either space out it's tee times and limit numbers on the course or re-iterate to it's members about speeding up play! Its a nice little course other than that, although not long, does have some tricky holes. The greens aren't the best but I think a lot of that is the up and down weather.
Buggies
Have played here quite a few times but now have serious breathing problems which prevents me from walking. I enquired price of a buggy and was told it was£40 which is more than the cost of a round of golf. My club charge £22.50 which now seems cheap. Obviously this club does not want older( I'm 86) or handicapped players. Perhaps you should publish this on your website
Okay Nothing Special
A early morning midweek round meant so it was quiet. Recent rains meant the course was very dry. Bare and parched. The greens were well presented though and the tee boxes just about okay but showing signs of the dry weather. The course had an interesting layout but several holes cross crossed each other like the 12 and 13th. Took me a while to work out where to go. For £19 it was just about fair. I wouldn’t rush back but that’s not to say it wasn’t a good experience.
Very enjoyable
Staff courteous
Pro shop very helpful.
People on course (mostly from the Midlands) were friendly and allowed me through (playing on my own).
Always enjoy this course.
This is a good, value for money course.
Deserves to suceed.
Well maintained considering recent hot conditions
Good condition despite hot weather and helpful staff in clubhouse
Waiting, Waiting & More Waiting
Course is fantastic. Great condition and really challenging playing for the first time and a bargain at the price. Staff were really friendly and helpful. However, as I drive into the car park I saw a number of group queuing on the first tee box I don’t think anything about it until it was my turn to tee off, two 2 balls in front of me and a two ball behind……nothing storage about that until we met at every tee box. The pace of play was so slow there were people queuing at every tee box you look at. It took me, a single golfer 2 hours 50 mins to play 9 holes. I’d had enough at this point and left. All 9 holes had the two 2 balls in front of me waiting for the group I front of them.
I was really disappointed as the course in great, just too many people playing too slow. Real shame.
Fantastic value and very enjoyable
Played here twice with month and although I played it years ago in club matches, I forgot how good a course it is. Great layout, nice holes. Well maintained, tricky greens, nice proshop and welcoming clubhouse and overall really enjoyed. If I lived closer I would join at the bargain rate of £575 per year.
To all involved, keep up the good work.
As Arnie would say.... "I'll be back"
Fantastic course
We play this course regularly as it’s great value for money, it’s in good condition and the greens are spot on
Slooooow
Layout and condition of the course was pretty good, although the greens are fairly small.
Pace of play however was excruciatingly slow, to the point where I walked in after fourteen holes. I suppose that's what happens with hotel courses but it spoilt the day.
Forest of Dean visit
Really nice course lots of trees but still room to play around them. Well bunkered I was lucky not to end up in one. I enjoyed it though felt I could have scored better. Only two minor negatives in that shop was closed mid afternoon when I arrived and after round so no access to scorecard or to rate staff. Also found pace of greens difficult like most might need a bit of water at moment but for price a decent value round of golf.
An absolute gem
Beautiful course set in stunning forest scenery, holes were all very varied and just the right mix of challenging and enjoyable. Greens were immaculate as was the general condition of the course. Staff in the pro shop were lovely and allowed us to start early which was appreciated. Absolute bargain, only criticism was the lack of a range or warm up area but this didn't stop us enjoying what is a lovely course all round.
