Brilliant Course
Always love playing Anglesey Golf Club. A very good challenging course. Greens are superb.
Fantastic Officials
With 50 mph winds, horizontal rain and flooded fairways - I was expecting to lose my money having paid in advance. I turned up and asked the staff (Anne and Dewi) what the situation was? They said they would take my name and I could use the paid for round at some point in the future. How brilliant of them. There was no need to do that - so many thanks to them and the gold club.
Diolch.
It was windy wet and cold . A real challenge. The course is tough and worth a visit . We hope to play this course and then time we are in Anglesey. The pro shop staff were great. A must play course.
Value for £20
First time on this course, really enjoyed how it played and found the back 9 really challenging.
Staff in the bar and around the course are really friendly and make you feel welcome.
Would recommend a try to fellow golfers.
First time
Greens in great condition, Some tough holes plenty of rough was a challenge but really enjoyed it
Friendly round with the lady of the house.
We had our first hit out on Anglesey golf course at Rhosneigr. Course was empty when we played - good job, allowed us to use the other fairways as well as the one we should have been on. Windy, but when isn't it at Rhosneigr. Course in good nick, greens good and managed to get round in just over 3 hours - which for us was unbelievable. Come and enjoy - even with Covid measures in place staff and members very welcoming. Enjoy.
Anglesey in the sun
Had to rebook from a couple of weeks ago because the met office forecast thunderstorms but the pro was extremely helpful allowing us to come back when it suited us which was great. The course is a links lay out within sea views, it’s set either side of a railway track and right next to Valley air base so on weekdays prepare yourself for fighter planes taking off and landing but not at the weekend. First three holes and 18th in clubhouse side of the tracks starting with 209 yard par 3 with a tiny bunker, which I found with a 4 iron. After the first three you go under the railway and join the sheep for the bulk of the course. To be honest it’s fine and i’d Play again but I found it all a little bit samey, all the par 4s are 330-380 and the par 3s, with the exception of he first, around 150 so you do find yourself playing the same clubs all the time. There are two par 5s though which break it up a little. The greens were in great condition with plenty of contours and subtle breaks and the rough for the most part allows you to find the ball and in most cases play it although there is some gorse as you’d expect and some thicker areas of rough. The staff were all very friendly and overall we had a good day. We paid £24 each through Golf Now which I felt was good value but a weekend round if you booked direct would be £40 which I feel is a bit on the pricey side for what is an ok links course.
The sheep farm.
Fairly featureless farmland with lots of sheep wandering around the course depositing their poop everywhere and not raking the bunkers! It's an okay course for a casual golfer on holiday, I suppose.
Challenging course
An excellent challenging links type course. Although very wet the course was still playable.
The breeze coming off the sea added to the experience.
Many long par 4s make for a chance to test the driver.
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food well above average.
This is the course where Dr Frank Stableford first thought about his scoring system.
North Wales golf
Played Anglesey Golf Club 5 or 6 times now and always enjoyed it. Rather quirky with sheep grazing on the course but classic links turf and excellent greens. Not overly long and very playable for any standard of golfer. Would recommend it to any golfer visiting North Wales.
We received a friendly welcome at the Anglesey Golf Club where I have played several times before. The weather was fine and it was a particular pleasure not to have any aircraft flying over compared with previous visits. This is only temporary due to runway improvements not completed yet. The course has always been very natural links land but rabbits are an obvious problem and preferred lies were advisable. It was not easy to see the best line from the tees as fairway/rough definition is poor.
Excellent
Very good links type course. Challenging pin positions on well looked after greens.
Staff friendly. Catering excellent.
Highly recommended.
