Great value for £20
It has a real grown up parkland feel to it. Interesting shape to some holes. Quite undulating. Great views over Menai. Greens a little rough in parts. Lots of buggy traffic so just wave them through. A very busy course in peak times so plan for this. Bunkers in good condition. Tee boxes a little tired. Overall great value for £20.
Great course and staff, greens very rough.
To start with, the pro shop manager was fantastic. I mistakenly booked a tee time for tomorrow, but he was able move the booking to today so I could play. Above and beyond!
Now, the course. The course itself is very nice. The fairways are beautiful and the holes, while short on paper, play much longer as they are usually uphill! The only downside are the greens, while are very poor. In a month or 2 they should be better, but not now.
Fantastic Course
A fantastic course with a great layout in great condition and offered an enjoyable challenge. The views across the course are spectacular. We will remember Henllys course that’s for sure. Thank you for having us.
Very Enjoyable Round
We had a good round, lovely location, and great layout.
Not the longest course but a great challenge that is good for the short game!
Slow play, poor greens
Beautiful course with some great holes. In large part a result of the weather, but almost all the greens were in terrible condition. A lot were dried out with large burnt sections. Spoke with one of the members (who we ended up playing with due to the slow pace of play) and he explained there had been some moss growing on all the greens (?). Every putt bobbled towards the hole on and off line.
We got stuck behind two four balls who played incredibly slowly. Went as a 2 person golf day with my brother, but ended up playing with two lads behind us who also got caught up in the queue. By the time we reached the 9th there were 3 groups stood on the tee waiting to play. 18 holes took 5 hours.
For £35 on a Sunday, we weren’t thrilled with the experience.
Super value
Went on my own and joined some visitors. The ground was soft so not much run. But superb views from high up. I would recommend it . I'm going back again soon
Couple playing the course , sunny bit cold day
We arrived at the clubhouse where we were welcomed and had a nice tea and coffee. The pro was very friendly .
Unfortunately, there had been quite a bit of rain and the course was wet. We must of lost about 12 balls between us as they kept plugging and were impossible to find. The greens were in poor condition as they all had fusarium. On the plus side , the views were fantastic. Quite a short course with a few of the par 4’s around 260-340 yards.
May be worth a visit in the summer , but not in great condition when we played
Nice course
Some really interesting holes on this course , yes some hikes in between holes but that just added to its charm & makes it more challenging.. recommended
As usual a delightful experience
Lovely course in beautiful location if I have played a course with more spectacular views I can not remember when. Generally as usual course very good condition the greens had been recently tended but has to be done. This also provided a great excuse for missing putts.
Lovely course
A challenging course bring extra balls, the views are spectacular. Course in great condition greens had just been treated so my excuse for three putts. Friendly staff what more do you want.
Autumn Conditions
Very enjoyable first round. Due to recent rain no buggies allowed. I had read reviews prior to playing which had recommended a buggie due to the distances between tees.
My wife and I had a good walk instead pushing the trollies we hired.
We did not play particularly slowly but the walking in between holes and the slopes involved made it more than a four hour walk on what is quite a short playing course.
Greens had been hollow tined and dressed and not yet cut so we’re very difficult to putt on and score well. Fairways not cut either due to conditions. Still an enjoyable round as it required good club selection off the tee and great for short game practice as lots of wedge play into the greens. I would recommend checking the course is open following wet weather. I would also recommend the course organise some jet washing of the steep concrete paths to remove mud and grass as in wet conditions these felt slippery.
Will return in dryer conditions to get best value.
Henllys
Disappointed with general conditions. Fairways were too long, and poor quality greens. Buggies definitely needed as there are several long walks from green to tea. However, Henllys has the potential to be a great venue, with some investment, it could be really good, and the green fees could be raised to the levels of other clubs. It looks to me as if they are quite happy to be cheap and cheerful, so you get what you get for £30. The staff in the shop and bars were very friendly, and made us most welcome. Would I visit again? Probably not sorry
Long slog
I've played this course before and enjoyed it but this time it was there was nowhere to park as they had a ladies golf tournament on. I had to wait on all 18 holes . I'd never noticed before how far you have to walk from green to tee and most of it seems uphill then having to wait after an uphill slog with nowhere to sit. I can't stand to see litter on a golf course so I picked up a beer can and as everyone knows no good deed goes unpunished. There's wasn't a single waste bin on the course. Note to golf clubs if you don't want people to litter put some bins out. I was amazed when I'd finished my round that it had taken me exactly 4 hours because it felt like 8.
If your going to play here get a buggy
Excellent picturesque course. Will be back asap .
Lovely course and kept well . Wasn't easy finding a few of the tee boxes due to being spread out but thats the only thing i could pick up on . Overall really enjoyed it and for the price i would 100% recommend
