Course in great condition given the previous weeks of terrible weather. Members happy to show us around and give advice. Shorter course than some others but equally as challenging with good tee shots rewarded. Will definitely be returning.
Great course to play
A challenging 18 hole course. Great value for money as the course is in very good condition and well maintained. Off course amenities only 4 star due to covid.
Williams
We had a lot of rain leading up to the day and it was still very wet underfoot
Great Day
Upon arrival at the course I went to the clubhouse where all the necessary COVID precautions were in place. I informed the staff of my booking and he welcomed me and my son asked if we knew the course and wished us a good game and to enjoy the day.
Weather and conditions were good and we enjoyed the round but we only had one negative which was that the greens had been top dressed and there was a bit too much sand on some and so consistency on all greens was not equal. But we will definitely be back.
Thanks for a great day
Has potential but layout confusing
Whilst there are some nice holes on the course, the layout is very poor and confusing, making you walk hundreds of additional yards for very little gain.
Signposting could also be improved, a number of times it was difficult to establish where the next tee was or where your tee shot needed to be hit, an example is when leaving the 7th green, it’s not obvious where the 8th tee is.
The group behind actually walked down to the 10th hole and back up as they missed the sign, which was on the floor covered by rough, adding to the already tough walk.
The greens were very poor, albeit they had been aerated, you would expect to see this advertised when booking so you are aware the greens are not at the expected standard, and would also expect a reflection of this in the price.
This has become a common trend on GolfNow, where you pay good money for a course expecting to play on good greens, only to find the course is going through some form of maintenance which is neither mentioned when booking or reflected in the price, very frustrating!
Apart from the above, the course does have some nice, challenging holes, but overall, due to the poor layout it’s not a course I would rush to visit again anytime soon.
Immaculate!
First time visiting Coed-Y-Mwstwr GC with my Dad, the course was fantastic! Great views of the countryside, greens were immaculate and the grounds were well taken care off.
The layout was a bit different as there was a bit of walking between greens and next tee but this is a minor negative for me personally. Overall, great golf course!
Excellent
Couldn’t have been happier with the club.
Really enjoyed our round. No real negatives
Staff really friendly and took time to explain the layout of the course.
A Little Gem
A very picturesque course close to Bridgend. A little difficult to find if you follow sat nav. Staff in the clubhouse were fantastic bearing mind COVID restrictions. Manger was very helpful. Bearing in mind the amount of rain that had fallen, the course played well and played well. Greens in very good condition and course layout made it very interesting for a first timer. Would definitely play here again, hopefully with better weather
Great course and friendly staff
Decided to give the course a go and was really pleased I did. Staff are so welcoming and friendly and were really accommodating. This really helped considering it was our first visit. The course is in really good condition considering the weather, especially the fairways. The layout of the first 6 holes is a tad confusing but really interesting and the whole course has lots of interesting undulating features which makes up for the relatively short course. Be ready for a challenge if the wind is blowing! I'm already planning on going again soon.
Great course
This is a lovely little course just off the m4. Not the longest, but the course layout provides a great challenge and was it great condition. Very friendly staff and members around the clubhouse. Would definitely play here again.
A very good course
Enjoyed the challenging layout. Front 9 are hilly back 9 lot flatter. First 6 holes are across a road on on the ‘other side’ of the course. Glad we had buggies. Would have been taxing walking it. Course in good condition. Greens were true. Prob a touch slower than usual because of the recent rain we’ve had. But were still firm. Rough was cut well too which is a bonus at our level. Sand in the Bunkers was soft and had been raked and smoothed out, not left to go hard like some courses have. Overall a good quality course , not easy but lots of open space if you hit it off line. I would Recommend it
