Cheap - but ball thieves ruined my day
We paid £20 each for a round on a lovely Sunday afternoon in April, so I was pretty happy to give this course a try, when that is almost a 9 hole course price.
Parking was extremely limited, I’d say there are only around 20-25 regular spaces, so we ended up having to abandon our cars on the access road.
The course itself is very compact, holes are short-medium distance, greens are very small (but ran quite nicely) and there are a lot of crossing holes, meaning it’s difficult to trust that you’re not going to get hit, hit anyone else, or just generally get in the way of someone on a different hole.
The elevation changes made the course more of a challenge in a good way, but there was a definite lack of bunkers/hazards in general.
Coming down one of holes after a blind tee shot over the crest of a hill, however, I saw 2 young lads (not playing) casually walking on the fairway and pocketing our balls. I managed to stop them nicking two balls, but mine was long gone by this point. Have to say I’ve never experienced having my ball stolen from the middle of the fairway before - and it seemed that no other players/members were that bothered, as the lads wandered across fairways past multiple playing groups.
Overall, not a good experience and I’m afraid I won’t be returning again, and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone I know, even despite the price.
Course in great nick
In great nick for the price of £20 a round.
Little tricky when you don’t know where you’re going but an enjoyable course and I’ll definitely go back for another go.
Disappointing Experience
I was excited to return to this golf club. Had a great experience the first time I played here and excellent value for money. Our tee time was 8:28am and we were next to the first tee box at 8:25 where a large group were waiting to tee off. They asked what our tee time was which I responded 8:28, they responded “oh you’ve missed it”. I checked my watch and said no I haven’t it’s 8:25, what times yours? “8:45” they said. They started moaning about how much they pay for their membership and how as a visitor I only pay £20. They proceeded to tell us to keep pace of play fast. This was incredibly frustrating. I understand the rules of golf and especially keeping pace of play, but with constant pressure from this group behind us created a very negative experience. Shame to receive this attitude from members of the golf club.
Llantrisant & Pontyclun
Lovely course, weather was perfect, not too hot but polo weather, ground was still wet and muddy in a few minuet areas, definitely be back there soon.
Great course first time playing it hope your fit pushing a trolly up and down nearly every hole bit of a challenging course great atmosphere and very friendly staff definitely be returning could do with more directions for next hole but other than that great
Great course
Despite the weather conditions the course played really well
We have played the course 4 times over the few weeks and have been more than impressed
Joe in the pro shop and the bar staff are top notch👍
Course is Great
Good course. Walked and not too bad. Definitely earn the drink at the end in clubhouse. Some challenging holes. Greens were great quality.
Friendly club.
Nice golf club, in decent condition. Testing holes in a tight setting. A few tee boxes need some work but probably due to the warm weather. Will be returning especially with the green fee of £20. Great value.
Great course
I played it for the first time with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tight drives that will test your skills paired with wider fairways that meant you weren’t punished for a slightly wayward shot. It was hilly but with great scenes. The one thing that could be improved for those that haven’t played it before is having one or two more signs for the next hole.
Challenging but lovely course
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to this course. It’s not particularly long, quite tight in parts, has some very pretty holes, and overall a challenging course for medium handicappers. The greens were excellent so congratulations to the ground staff. I’ll definitely be back.
I want to call it a Welsh version of Pinehurst No.2
Everything was in fantastic shape, with a great layout that made for a challenging experience.
The greens were very firm and your chips had to be perfect, otherwise you were in for another before putting.
I can't think of anything negative to say. It's a beautiful and challenging course!
First time playing here
It was my first time playing here on 23/05/25. I brought a friend with me as well to play a nice sunset 18 holes.
Some absolutely stunning views on the way around the the first tee off was very picturesque.
The course layout was amazing, each hole had its own uniqueness about it, nothing felt repetitive at all.
From short downhill, reachable green par 4's. To some more challenging par 3 and 5's. This course was overall a lovely experience to play.
Even the people going around the course were really friendly and helpful with locating my golf balls that landed on the wrong fairway 😂
I'd definitely come and visit again in the hopes I play better than I did my first time around.
I'm sure this course would provide a challenge for even the scratch golfera our there, let alone a mid to high handicapper like myself.
