Excellent course

Played this course twice and on both occasions have really enjoyed. The layout is excellent and the course is well presented, kept in really good condition with lovely views. Greens are really good and run true. Well placed tee shots required on quite a few holes with the fairways sloping either left or right running off into the rough and also a few holes that require some carry to reach the safety of the fairway. A challenging course but playable for all handicapped golfers. Will definitely be paying a few more visits to this course.

Well worth a visit

I have played Maesteg a couple of times recently. The course is in good condition with decent greens. The course starts relatively easy (if you keep the ball straight) but develops into a challenging and scenic course. There are a number of daunting tee shots that require a decent hit or lost ball. Love the par 3 sixth with elevated tee and pond. Several other nice holes as well. Being picky the par 4 eighth which plays into the wind at 459 yards should be a par 5 especially as the par 5 18th is the same length with an elevated tee.

Staff are friendly but cannot comment on facilities as visits were during covid restrictions although nice outside area for a drink.

I will be returning and recommend the course.

Great overall round of golf considering its winter!

Played twice now at Maesteg. Both times found the course tough but enjoyable. It's winter and it's wet so take that into account, the fairways were a tad wet and so where the greens but not unplayable. Overall the 3 of us enjoyed it, sun was out, the views around the course are spectacular and the staff were very friendly and helpful

We are definitely going to play there again

Walked

100 minutes to play 3 holes

Played the first 6 holes - took 45 mins. Then got held up by a junior 3 ball playing in a comp - took over an hour and a half to play the next 3 holes. Never seen such time wasters on a golf course - who did they think they were? 15 minutes looking for a ball - 3 times! Could easily have called me through, even though they were playing in a comp. No wonder people get put off playing golf when such dreadful attitudes abound. Hopefully they'll develop more common sense and decency as they grow older. Course was OK - but shan't be going back - life is too short!

clicky people boggy course

Had a greenkeeper tell me which tees I should play off, the pro shop was locked on arrival, course was very boggy after a little rain the nite b4 & had been dry for ages b4 that, no signs for tees and sum holes it was hard to tell which greens you were playing for. Sorry but this wasnt a very good example of a golf course. However the greens were in great shape.
