Has gone downhill
I used to be a member of this course and after a few years away I came to the Grove to play my 1st round.
The Pro Shop is still as good as ever but the course conditions have really gone down hill. Greens were mossy and unkept, fairways had clearly not been looked after and were losing colour, tee boxes were a mess. Not what I expected for what used to be a good course. Add on the increase in green fees to £30 any I will be avoiding for a while which is a shame.
Unfriendly golf members at time
Paid for 10.44. T off but found myself in the middle of old people's gold competition. T off and while waiting , 3 elderly guys could not wait as I had to for players in front to play on . I stood while they apparently T off with no signalling to me closest ball landed about 10 feet no ball hit me but felt unsafe . As waited at secound T the three players cought up and just started telling me how I should not be on course, seems I was wrong playing after paying and given T time what a bunch of idiots, felt unsafe with them behind me so left course pro shop were understandble and regreated the club members arrogance and reranged T off at a later time
Solo play at the Grove
Bit daunting turning up at a golf club having never played there before and playing on your own. They were very friendly in the pro hut and gave me advice on the course layout. Considering the time of year the fairways and greens were well look after. Weather was on my side and I had a good round. I dropped my hybrid cover somewhere early on, when I was on the 12th this voice said did you drop something, he said he kept it in his bag till he found who it belong to. I was most thankful for his efforts. To round up the day all I can say is nice course, very friendly staff and members.I won't feel as anxious turning up there again on my own. Would definitely recommend.
Considering the weather great round
Played this course last Friday and considering the amount of rain we have had locally I was surprised the course was still open and even more surprised how good the condition of the course was. Played a round with my son and we played at a decent pace and no issues. Didn't use the clubhouse after so can't comment on the facilities but the service in shop prior to round was first class....Will definitely be back
NOT A BAD DAY
OK BUT AGAIN, NOTHING TO BE WILD ABOUT. OK COURSE BUT NOTHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT.
Very good Course
Reasonable course in very good condition this visit, the greens were true and quicker than expected.
Reasonable knock
Reasonable course. In much better condition than previous visits, the greens were fairly true and quicker than expected.
A couple decent holes but for the most part fairly forgettable in terms of layout. Nothing wrong with the course at all and worth a game if you want something slightly easier/more affordable than nearby courses Southerndown or P&K
Good venue with ridiculously fast greens
Great course, needs water where there should be water but other than that its fun
Really enjoyed playing here again, the course is in tip top condition.
I went wrong after the 10th a sign would help to point you in the direction of the 11th tee
Great course
Used to be a member here about 6 years ago, when I used to play more regularly. Only managing the occasional round (although trying to play a lot more) and was looking for somewhere to play.
Always enjoyed the course, there are some really nice holes that provide a challenge whatever your ability. The course was in reasonable condition given the weather we have had recently.
Didn't make use of the facilities, but the bar and food were always good. Members and staff were always friendly and the few I saw were no exception.
Great Gilf Course
Excellent condition on the course after experience in the wettest period. Will definitely be back
Great course
Great course and in great condition for winter would be even better in the summer and will definitely be playing again.
Great Course A few rude members
Really enjoyed the course but there was a very rude group of members in front of me.
I was playing behind a group of 4 and was waiting behind them for every shot for 4 holes. They did not once look back or offer to play through. I then asked if I could play through and they just ignored me. I asked again and they said no. So in the end I just walked a hole to get ahead of them. Apart from that course was nice and I enjoyed.
