Patriot Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Unbelievable Views
This was our first time playing here. Visiting from Long Island. While I'm a beginner, my husband is an intermediate player who plays several times a week and he loved this course. Great elevations, scenic views, deer, gophers everywhere . Pace of play was good and holes challenging, some more than others. Very friendly staff. All around a great day of golf, will definitely return
Great course
This course is outstanding! Very scenic. In great shape to be mid-season. Very challenging for mid handicappers.
Great Views from Tees!
This is a good golf course to play. It has a good layout with great views from most of the tees. The course is in good shape.
Challenging Beautiful Course in Rockland
In the hills overlooking the Hudson Valley lies this well maintained challenging course. Subtle breaks make the moderately fast greens challenging as well.
Its on the pricey side but compared to the other courses in the area, this one is the best.
Excellent Staff
Course was in good shape considering we had received a lot of rain in the days before. In addition, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. I would highly recommend playing this course, especially for city folk.
nice views - very nice course
Lived in the area for a long time and never played here until today.
Course was in good shape and pace of play was decent for a holiday weekend. Saw the ranger multiple times.
Negatives - for some reason even though the course was dry they were cart path only for the day which slowed the pace slightly.
Outside of seeing the ranger - the cart boys were no where to be found - dropped my clubs off, went to the proshop and paid came back out loaded my bags onto a cart waited and then finally someone came over to direct us.
Outside of the staff issues really enjoyed the course and will return. Course has many level changes but was fair and not many blind shots.
Greens were in very good shape but were not as fast as they could have been.
Good Course with interesting holes
Lots of elevation change and raised tee boxes. Beautiful views and course is in very good condition.
Great Value
I live in the city and getting to this course by car could not be easier. Straight up the Palisades in 45 minutes. Beautiful setting with many very very elevated tee boxes. Fairways are never very tight so grip it and rip it. Greens are often well protected with bunkers but good course management should keep them out of play. A few long par fours. The only con would be that the par threes seem very similar. No water hazards to speak of on the course and homes surrounding the course are never really visible. Greens seemed slow but in very good condition. Carts all electric but had no problem handling the very hilly terrain. (I used the same cart for 36 holes and had plenty of power left.) Driving range is about 280 yards deep. Hit off of matts and 45 balls for 5$.
I can't rate the food in the club house. Didn't order anything, but the grill look inviting. There is a food shack at the end of 9 holes, but selection is limited to hot dogs and pre-made sandwiches. Lots of deer, groundhogs, and wild turkey on the course. No water, so no dirty geese!!!
The staff was very helpful and play was fast that day. 36 holes in 7.5 hours.
All in all, a wonderful course for the value.
First timer. Worth the money
Being fairly close to NYC I was a bit worried that this course would end up being either too crowded or not nice enough to justify the $120 green fee. I was wrong.
Great layout, LOTS of big elevation changes which makes club selection fun/challenging. The greens were slow but it had rained earlier in the week.
The par 3's were fairly straightforward but otherwise it was a great round, especially for being less than 40 min from NYC.
Gorgeous, Challenging and Playable
We had an absolutely incredible round at Patriot Hills. Only 40 minutes from the City, I'm shocked this isn't a more well known course. I will absolutely be coming back.
We snagged an ez links time at a really nice discount, and had a promo code on top of that, making the round ridiculously affordable. I'm not sure I would pay $120 to play, but I wouldn't feel slighted if I did. This course is awesome.
The layout is challenging but very fair. You need to hit the ball straight, but it's a pretty short course with a lot of opportunities for birds. The scenery is spectacular with holes that have dramatic changes is elevation, offering unique and sometimes breathtaking views . The condition of the course was very good. The greens, while tricky, roll true. The pace, for a Sunday, was totally tolerable.
The only thing I didn't appreciate was the attitude of the female employee showing the space for a wedding, who was extremely rude when we walked into the wrong building, adjacent to the pro shop. Then again, id probably be pretty rude if working with bridezillas was my day job.
course was great awsome layout
beautiful view nicely laid out
play was pretty quick course was in great shape
Nice course - very different due to elevation issues
Very nice course for money. Not worth full weekend price. Decent condition for early season. Paired with three others, one of which was extremely slow. If needed 10 shots to get to green played 10 shots and then putted out fully. Never picked up. Needless to say, slow.
Very interesting course overall. Played many times previously. Lots of elevation changes and requires smart golf to score well.
Course is riding only due to elevation issues between some holes
Scenic Golf Course
Nicely kept course, interesting geography, I would recommend to try it once for the expeience. Avoid however going as a single; expect a long round and best to play it with someone you know. After 2 3/4 hours on the first 9 holes (started in late afternoon) I bowed out so the other 3 players who knew each other stood a chance to finish their 18 holes before dusk.
pYou have to play here
What a great day of golf! The staff was great the course is a bombers paradice, with elevated tees and wide fairways feels like the ball flys forever! Greens were rolling nice so early in the season. The ranger moved the round along not allowing the group in front to slow us down. I would play here every week!
Course review
Played here several times. Course is challenging but manageable. Course conditions were not up to normal however it was only open a couple of days from a hard winter.
Patriot hills - great course
So I tried Patriot Hills for the 1st time last Saturday. Bit of a Drive from NYC, but I must say it was worth it!
Elevated tee boxes and the general hole layout are awesome! Surrounding views are just as good. Played at 8:20am as a twosome and got round in 3h 45m. Would have been quicker, but being Fall, there are a lot of leaves around, so spend a lot of time looking for balls, even in the middle of the fairway. In Summer, this course must be amazing. Would like to pay less than $90, but it is worth it!
Best public course in NY area
I was told how great this course was by a friend
Of mine who is a private club member. He was so right
The most beautiful views from the tee boxes, great
Bunkering, and difficult without being silly.
A MUST PLAY!
Best carts
Best golf carts!
Beautiful downhill tee shots with great views.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I DO recommend this course, said I didn't (above) by mistake. Just be prepared for the type of course this is: challenging and unusual in a topographical sense, unlike others in the area. Also more credit o he staff; they try very hard to be accomodating.
