Patriot Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the Ramapo Mountains on a perch overlooking the Hudson, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point feels far but it’s conveniently only an hour’s drive from the city. The golf course tumbles across dramatically rolling hills, providing views that span the Hudson Valley. Don’t let the 6,485 yards on the scorecard fool you, the daunting elevation changes make the course feel much longer. Walkers should be forewarned that this mountainous golf course is nearly impossible on foot. You can expect a few approaches to uphill greens but more often you’ll be faced with intimidating shots from elevated tees, which loom more than 200 feet above the severely contoured fairways below. The Patriot Hills layout is a formidable test but players of any skill level can appreciate the meticulous care that went into crafting each hole.

Great course in Roclaknd
Challenging course, great views, great tee shots, tough greens!!!
Lots of sand, no water, need to ride can't walk.
Deer, turkey, and hawks all over. So even if your playing like me, you can enjoy the day!!!
Overall, unique course with lots of character. Bring lots of balls of your a double digit.
Go play it.
Lots of driving
The course is all hills. You drive your cart a lot between most of the holes. We played in a strong wind which wasn't fun. I don't who they had in mind when they made this course. It would be fine as a home course that one got to know well, but as a random public course it's just too hard and quirky. You just can't tell where to land your shots. Hard, fast greens.
Patriot Hills
A really nice scenic course. Par 4s are all beautiful, although a bit repetitive. Par 3s lacking creativity. But overall very good condition and beautiful views throughout.
Patriot Hills Rocks
This is a spectacular course with an amazing layout set in the hills and valleys of northern Rockland County. Very friendly staff and fair prices. With ten minute tee time separation, the pace of play is good. The holes are each unique and memorable. I will be back!!!
Great Views
Great track
Lots of hills
Lots of elevated tee boxes
Favourite course north of NYC
Beautiful layout and pretty scenic holes. Great way to spend time out of the hustle and bustle of NYC. Played this course several times but the last time I had no warning the greens were being aerated.
Golf in november
Cold windy day so not many on course. Great course tho!
The staff makes the difference
Great course, my husband and I played during the fall with leaves changing colors. We spotted, every time we were there a herd of deer and this last time, wild turkey.
The golf course is demanding but really fun, with many scenic holes. The greens will punish you, they are crazy fast!
But what makes a difference here is the staff. We are from Brazil, from the first time we've played the course we were greated as old customers, from the guy that took our bags to the golf cart, to the starter and the ranger. Also the ladies at the bar were very friendly. My husband has had an elbow surgery and he needs ice after every round. Every time I would go there to ask for ice (a plastic bag full of it), they would give it to me with a smiling face. During the last month we've played 10 courses or so. Patriot Hills was the one we chose for our grand finale!
Amen to the Hills
Deffinatly top golf course within the city limits. Worth the drive and $$. As soon as
You get there, you will feel welcomed as you are greeted and taken care of by Uncle Al. Course is challenging but plenty if fun as what a golf course should be.
I LOVE PATRIOT HILLS
Slow play
Great course with many challenging holes. Course is in good condition and the greens are fast. The pace of play was very slow, took at least five hours. Hope the rangers would do a better job with keeping the pace of play.
Great course!
Beautiful course, challenging, have to ride cart, too steep to walk.
Gorgeous view, challenging greens, hilly fairways
This is a tough tough course if you aren't accurate with your shots and a good putter. The greens are very tough yet well maintained. My friend is an amateur and he lost almost a dozen balls in the round. I'm a 15 handicap and lost 1. I nearly kept in the 80's but unforgiving greens and a bad putting day put me at 90.
The views on the course make nearly every hole look like a postcard.
Great Course for the Money
You cannot ride this course. Very Hilly but very picturesque. Sept 2014 the greens were very fast. Did not break as much as we thought they would. First time here but I will be back.
Nice Facility and Staff, Players need to leave the course better than they found it
Overall experience very good. It was my first time playing here and offered a nice challenge for my skill level from the blues... if i would have played the whites like i normally do i would have shot significantly lower.
Staff was extremely friendly both at the Starter, on the course and in the club house (grill).
Round played in just about 4 hours, even with a slow group head of us.
Course is very up and down, Most of the tee boxes are elevated into fairways that are forgiving to some extent. A few of the holes are very long par 4's at least from the blue (for me).
My only knock on the course was it was very very dry...The fairways had recently been air-rated and had some dried dirt clumps throughout. I wish golf now would have posted the airation note before booking.
I got a great rate through Golfnow including cart. I will definitely be back to give this track another go.
Amazing Course/View
I had a lot of fun playing here. The views are amazing. On many of the holes you drive out to 100+ foot drops down into exceptional fairways. Quite a lot of wildlife keeps you company. We saw about 20-30 deer which made it an even nicer experience.
I would like to go back now that I know the layout. Quite challenging holes. The greens role nicely.
Public Course that feels like a Private Course
Without question, Patriot Hills is my favorite public course in the NJ/NY area. With the fall specials offered by the Golf Course or the rates you can get on Golfnow, it is a no-brainer. Great value and an absolutely beautiful course with many elevated tee boxes. Staff are super friendly.
Challenging Beauty
Even though I have played here a few times before, I am still awed by the dramatic layout of the course. It has many steep hills, well-placed sand traps that require the golfer to think and plan his shots before hitting. The greens, fairways and traps are in excellent condition. Though in the past, the pace has been very good, on this day it was slow. All my friends who have ever played it still talk about it.
Elevated Greens!!!
If you are a fan of elevated greens then you will love this course. I feel like 80% of the holes I played had elevated greens.
Great wildlife. Lots of deer on the course. Some great vistas.
But, the courses is very narrow, and easy to lose balls in long grass and dense rough which borders the fairway. I went through a lot of balls on this day. I also didnt like how many times I hit the ball from a slop or some weird angle.
I wouldnt rush back to this course. Im glad I played it once though. I did like their bar and food after.
Should have posted an aeration alert
Course was great except for the fact the greens had all just been aerated.
Pleasant!
Play Patriot Hills on nice clear day so that you can enjoy the magnificent scenery and the dramatic landscaping of the course. I usually play from the blue tees which is challenging without being overly difficult. The greens were recently aerated but still was not an issue. Very difficult course to walk, I would advise to ride.
