Although this is still my favorite course for the money in the area, one of the reasons that I liked it so much is that the sand traps were taken care of and they had a lot of sand in them. Now whenever I play their pack down it seems like they don't come through and rake them, or they haven't added sand in a few years. I used to tell everyone I knew that played that it was the best course for the value because it was like a country club with Public course pricing. Please work on the traps. The rest of the course is great the only other downfall is no driving range.
best shape the course has ever been in
have not played in Bella Vista in 2 years and returned for an early morning round. The course was immaculate and in the best shape I've ever seen it. The greens were smooth and fast with no marks. The fairways were lush and perfect. The tees were also in very good shape. There is a real good mix of holes and you'll use every club in your bag on the course. The hardest holes are the long par 4 9th and 13th holes, that will test the best golfers anywhere. The island green 14th is a fun hole with various teeing options. The only thing lacking here is a driving range but by all means come here to play soon.
Layout
Challenging but fair. Great conditions. Staff is awesome.
Great typical golf
Really well maintained, A+++++ on the condition of the greens, and the pace of play was on point. The overall layout isn't anything to write home about, however there are a couple of nice unique holes. In the end, definitely a course I would play again, but if I'm looking for a super memorable round in regards to layout, I'll go elsewhere.
One of the best in the area
Everything about Bella Vista was fantastic. The pro shop worker and starter were friendly and helped us out because it was our first time playing. Course was in pristine conditions. Certainly one of the best courses I have played so far in PA this year with regards to the conditions. Bunkers were filled with sand and the greens rolled true and were somewhat fast but not too difficult. The hardest part about Bella Vista, at least for me, is that it demands great tee shots on every hole with your driver. I will be back soon to hopefully shoot a better round!
Very easy on the eyes
First time playing ....will play it again for sure. The course is in great condition the greens a tad slow. Very nice layout and well marked. Enjoyed it! The bonus was a member of our group aced # 7.
Chilly Start
Played with fellow Golf Now guy Tyler. This is one of those courses that won't let you go until your tee time and they want 2 to a cart. That said, we had no one in front of us and played at our own pace. Course was in great shape. I wish the greens were more receptive though. Lofted shots barley left a mark and the ball would run. Has an "island" green that was very accessible from the gold tee.
Over all great experience on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
Top of my List
This is one of the nicest public courses in the SE PA region. We visit Bella Vista 3 to 4 times a year. The course is wide open and a pleasure to play. Always well maintained. The holes vary in length and in the particular challenges they present. One hole has an island green. Speaking of the greens, they keep them in very good shape. However many of them seem to break a lot less than they read. Overall, the course played very well on a wet rainy day last weekend. The only thing missing is a driving range or a place to warm up. Bring your A game.
OK Day
For the value this is a good course. Pace of play was an issue. Back nine waited every hole and groups behind us were skipping ahead. A marshall would have been nice if we could have been able to play through two extremely slow foursomes. These groups left some nasty gouges in tee boxes and ball marks on the greens were not being repaired. I guess you have to expect this with weekend play and golfers who don't know or care about golf etiquette.
Starter
Starter for the course didn't make it convenient to start play, held people back when tee box was open. Horrible planning so it slows pace of play
Course in great shape, fun layout
I am always impressed when I play Bella Vista - it's not too challenging but challenging enough to keep you focused. A lot of interesting holes, and very well maintained.
Great layout
Another quality Jim Blaucovich design for area golfers. There are no tricks and no two holes alike as this course rolls over the natural terrain between houses that mostly are not in play. The eighth hole bears a resemblance to 18 at Congressional and is a great golf hole. The course is mostly open and suitable for beginner golfers as long as they don't bite off too much playing the wrong set of tees. Don't be embarrassed to move up to a forward set of tees if you want to enjoy yourself. The course was very wet the day I was there last and it was cart path only. Cart path only wasn't an issue but finding some semi solid turf almost anywhere was. Generally balls would pretty much stop where they hit, but I think that under normal conditions they would roll out in fairways. The 18th is a par three that will challenge the best players so save a solid iron shot left when you get to the tee.
Great...But
Course was in great shape for the time of year. No tee markers so you can play from wherever, course was clean and greens were pretty good. The only issue was the $47 riding greens fee for an off-season rate. About a handful of tee boxes were closed for no particular reason other then being winter but they still charged full rate. Otherwise, no real big complaints. It's nice to even play golf outside in the middle of January in PA.
Worth the wait
I had been wanting to play Bella Vista for quite awhile. It's a little further away and they don't offer too many deals. So when I saw one that fit our schedule, I finally got my opportunity. It is an extremely interesting course layout: ups, downs, doglegs and picturesque and an island green for good measure. Can't wait to play it again - deal or no deal!
Wonderful day
My husband and I have not been back to this course in over 10 years so we decided to celebrate our anniversary by playing a round of golf here. We are very glad we did. The course is in excellent shape and the people who work here are courteous and friendly. The round only took us four hours which we appreciated. Water and bathrooms were available which is always a welcome amenity. The only bad thing I have to comment on was that the ladies tee boxes were pretty sad compared to the men's. We will definitely come back again and recommend it to our friends.
Solid Layout
It's hard to find a better value than Bella Vista at the GolfNow rate. The course has good variety of holes, and is both challenging and fair. The condition is pretty good considering the lousy summer weather. They had just aerated and sanded the greens but they still were decent. Pace of play being first off was pretty good, but the constant presence of maintenance became annoying. I know they try to maximize the number of times available, and hence revenue, but they shouldn't start play until the crew has time to get the course ready for the day's play.
Bella golf - Aces!
Played it for the first time (36 holes) and went back a couple of days later for 27 and then 18 again. So 81 holes in a week. So a good sample.
First two trips I teed off at 6:30 AM and the pace of play was outstanding. The extra 18/9 were a hair slower but I did the 36 in 5 1/2 hours and the 27 in 4 1/2. Both rounds during the week. The last 18 I teed off later and the round was more like 4 1/2 for 18 which is not bad but not as fast as an early tee time.
Course is in very good shape. Not easy but not difficult. Does require one to be smart on course management and where to miss.
Staff is very nice and there is a nice grill. Easy to stop by at the turn and, given the routing, also between 12 & 13.
Finally, the course is great for holes-in-one! I aced my 27th hole (#18) on my second trip there. 7 iron from 160 yards - pitched 6" right of the hole and hopped right in for an ace.
Bella Vista
Very good experience overall
