Course under repair
No where on golf now did it say that one of the two courses would be closed and the other would only have the front nine open. Once you finished 9 and started over, you were stuck between other groups which slowed down play. No one was on the course offering drinks - and one of their water coolers was empty. Staff was very nice but there was no advanced knowledge of the course conditions and no discount for it.
Great Course
Very nice course. This was my first time. Loved the layout. I played the oaks course. Pines is under renovations but I hear it is going to be extremely nice when it opens in September. I would definitely recommend this course.
It will be better especially when the out of towners clear out of the area. Pines evidently will not be open for the public non-members for a while after they open which is good for the members. There are enough bad golfers that tear up the Oaks now the way it is. Tee times were fairly open this afternoon - could it be the foreigners are finally leaving LOL
Great Times
Great deal, great playing partners, pace was a little slow (to be expected at the time) but still wish so many players didn’t OVER-ESTIMATE their skill level.
Great staff
The staff treated us great the greens were a little slow although I admit it has been very hot so they have to keep them a little long and the fairways were a little on the rough side . Ranger could have spent his time working on the peripherals instead of following us around the course watching every shot we made
Marshal following you I would guess because you either had more than 4 golfers in your group which everyone knows you can't do OR you were like too many people out there playing way too slow! On a side note, we played Shalimar Pointe yesterday late morning - took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to play 18 holes and we probably paid $5.00 more than you all did to play a better course with free range balls. People someday will learn.
I know it is tough for about 75 to 80 percent of you all locals and visitors but TRY to move it along - golf should NOT take over 3 hours to play. If it takes you longer, you don't belong on a golf course - you need to be playing putt putt golf so just move it along or let faster players play through !
Great course to play being out of town will play again
Great course to play fast pace greens will definitely play again
Why Do Some People Even Golf
To the golfers with the Pennsylvania license plate on your vehicle take some advice. All of you in the 4some take your clubs and donate them somewhere; probably a garbage can would be best. AND learn some fricking courtesy on the course and NO, there were NOT other 4 somes ahead of you that could be seen ANYWHERE on the Oaks. GO back to your own golf courses or like it was said, donate your clubs because none of you 4 could golf. Now as for the single golfer that was directly behind you - same advice - donate your clubs because we know you could not even stay with the 4some in front of you hardly and you CERTAINLY did not even come close to breaking a 110 even. The single behind that sorry 4some and single we felt a little bad for because at least that old guy (looked old anyway) could definitely hit some good shots AND he kept moving. No course marshal was seen or beverage girl the whole day! Golfers need to recognize players behind them that are much faster and let them play thru. It takes less than 5 minutes normally for at least a decent golfer to play thru. Love to know the names of the clowns with the Pennsylvania or the single behind them so they could be contacted and told by the golf course (of course the golf course knows who they are by them signing for carts) NOT TO COME BACK LOL. It will be nice I am sure for the members to have the Pines back and visitors should not be given any tee times on either course before noon BUT especially when you have the Pines back - not even a member and I still say members only on the Pines period for months at least.
So rain the past couple of days BUT have driven by the course and seen morons actually playing in the thunder, lightning, and rain. Other than getting killed out there, you golfers do realize you are tearing the course up for us local golfers right? And more heavy rain coming today but again, you see a ray of sunshine and out there you will be because well, you're selfish morons. Golf course should close for at least one day and let the course dry out. A lot of us wish the out of towners would stay away.
Superb? Pace of play average? You are in some type of fantasy land. Tee times were evidently delayed the day you played and there were walkers so it was hardly average. People played Tuesday with the thunder, lightning, and torrential rain. Whoever you are, you have absolutely no respect for the maintenance of the golf course and if you got killed by lightning, your family could not sue the golf course and a lack of any brains is clearly evident.
Today round of golf right about 4 hours which some find reasonable or acceptable but 18 holes should NEVER take more than 3 hours but with the stacking constantly of tee times right on top of each other, all it takes usually is a walker or two or a few women or 4somes that belong on a miniature golf course vs a real golf course to hold the ENTIRE course up - not just a particular 9 holes. Pace of play at best was fair today - 2some in front of us pretty slow and they had a cart!
Seriously doubt your golf skill is what you say it is if you don't even know your handicap and you play once a month on average - means you don't even break 100 LOL
If you say pace of play was excellent you must have played early in the day
Best ball
Us over 80 year old golfers try and get together for a game of golf once a week. We play best ball and have a great time. We scored 6 under par which is not to bad for us Senior citizens. The course was in good condition even though they had recently top dressed the greens.
6 under using your handicap I gather
Such a pleasure today with really only one group of 6 (idiots) but they did let us play through at least so they did have some manners. Got to love the guys who bring their wives or girlfriends out with them like they golf good enough to impress anyone with their total lack of golf skill. All you out of towners stay off our course thank you very much
Bad Bogey
This course was in terrible conditions! The fairways were cut extremely low and the pace of play was slow! Marshall’s knew this but did nothing about it! I
Don’t waste your time or money on this course. Course layout was terrible!
Play your own courses in Destin then and stay off of ours! 2 other reviews on the same day show fair and excellent for ratings so thinking you are a whiner who sucks at golf LOL. Now no one can play Oaks course all 18 holes until at least Thursday so that will hopefully keep the foreigners from other states and well, people like YOU off the course here!
Same thing on 15 July - if it was posted on the golf courses Facebook page or their website, I and my partner did not see it. Pace of play was not totally horrible but one 4 some backed the course up a good 20 minutes allowing another 4 some to play thru. Courtesy is nice but when you sit on a tee box a good 10 minutes waiting for that group to finish the previous hole plus then the time it takes for that group and your group to finish the next hole, it is rather aggravating. You had the right idea but go ahead and tee off since it was a par 3; mark your balls and then tell that 4 some to come up ahead. Wasted time for all the groups behind you - use some common sense. Like we said, pace other than that was going not too slow - probably a 4 out of 10.
