Enjoyable day of golf
People were very friendly. Can’t beat the price for the course. Would recommend for the average golfer
A Good Value
This course is a great value course for a pleasant round. The greens could use some work but are playable. The course is narrow, which keeps it challenging. Overall, we had a very enjoyable round and would play again.
Interesting Tournament So It Has Been Said
Guess like 25 percent of the field shot in the net 60s on a course they have not played on in quite some time with new greens makes me think there are some handicaps off but maybe, just maybe the good golfers had that good a day. Vegas bookies don't think so and a little sandbagging "probably" happened but those people have to live with themselves if they need to cheat in a golf tournament. Never heard exactly what the $100 in merchandise coming back to each player was? A head cover does not cost that much LOL. Understand the rough is pretty dang thick but in reality, a lot of the courses in our tri-county area are like that aren't they? Maybe cut them down an inch or two more? Having rough in the middle of the fairway seems a bit harsh LOL. So it was 5 hours to play today nearly I heard? How hard is it to keep players moving and have them tee off on time! What couldn't be figured out according to some folks is how does a 2-man scramble take that many hours to play and if it is really a scramble when the best score only counts, why were there net scores for every player AND how come nothing was mentioned about top teams getting some kind of prize (s)? Mentioning that BEFORE the tournament may have amped up some more interested since the tournament was about 75 percent filled up. Good to decent comments heard about the changes on the course even having rough in the middle of some fairways is well, ridiculous.
Don't Know Who Made A Comment
Can't find the comment made of a posting but oh well.
Rude Golfers
It is bad enough when a 2 some plays as slow as a 4 some but when a 2 some stuck behind a 4 some because they won't let you play through, you need to get them off the course period!!
Once The Pines Is Open
Pines opening only for members for a month is a good idea to give the members some type of benefit. Would not totally recommend this course as just the Oaks available only because the golf management allows way too many people on the course at one time and you end up getting 3 or even 4 groups on the same hole plus EVERYONE piles over to #1 tee box regardless of their tee time thinking they can start early. That practice needs to stop and stop now. You cannot check in at #1 tee if it were up to me until 5 minutes before your tee time. THAT is the way many golf courses in the area do it so people basically are not in each others way - especially since 90 percent of the golfers out there cannot play worth a squat AND they take way too long.
Hard pan lies everywhere
The course was a strongest bone the grass was nonexistent the greens were full of sand no grass on the tees. Paid for 18 but only played nine it was pure torture!
HORRIBLE
Nothing but hard pan the whole course, the greens were full of sand and holes just terrible! There was no grass on the tees staff was very friendly but I will not play this course again!!!
HARD PAN
Staff amazing but the course was Horrible! No grass tees, fairways all hardpan! The greens loaded with sand!!!! Very poor conditions!
Really?
So the I don't even know what you call 90 percent of the golfers out there but I am sure it is a derogatory word but you all draw the line at playing when 9 holes only is available? Packed to the max worse than ever yesterday - you all don't check with the golf course or its website to see if the greens are being done BEFORE you go out? Really? You will play when it is raining, you will play when the course is saturated so that you tear up the course even worse than normal because 90 percent of you can't hit the ball, you will play when it is 105 degrees out but you won't play when only 9 holes is available? No more comments about that - just be glad when the out of state foreigners are out of here!!!!
Really? 2 to 3 Groups Every Hole!!
Do you NOT realize you have to control these moron golfers who have no manners and very little ability in the first place? Friend of mine just texted me and said EVERY HOLE has a minimum of 2 groups and they are too close together so it will turn out to be close to a 5 hour round!
One Last Shot But...
We gave it one last shot and that was a disaster! Of course a 4some (military guys perhaps?) showed their manners and golf etiquette was totally non-existent and we noted a 5some TWICE on the Oaks. For a course management to say that won't happen anymore, it seems to happen a LOT. Since things really won't change until the Pines opens up for everyone, we will play up at Crestview and at Hurlburt.
Review Of Gator Lakes Compared To Fort Walton Beach
Not even close. Played Gator Lakes teeing off around 10:30 - we finished before 1:00. Greens were every bit as good as any course in Destin. Fairways and Rough a little wet from the previous day rain but it was fair with plenty of grass on the fairways and the rough challenging but not ridiculous. Paid the same or maybe a buck or two less than the out of towners pay at FWB Oaks. I know this might involve a little thinking but a 10 second internet search will show/tell you how to obtain access to the Gator Lakes course but if you all want to keep getting in everyone's way at the Oaks, go for it. We won't anymore until the Pines opens up again!
aymac should play his own course but anyway, shame the 3 dipheads that never let anyone playing faster than them play through and their dramatics when they hit a bad shot are just juvenile.
