Golfer Reviews
Fort Walton Beach Golf Course Oaks
Overall the course was in good condition considering the growing season has not really kicked in yet. There was good grass coverage on the greens and fairways. Improvements could be made on the tee boxes. There were several that were “crowned” and it was difficult to find a level spot to tee your ball. The trees were healthy live oaks and most of the natural plants and trees appears healthy.
Awesome day
First time playing golf since my spinal procedure in January. Shot an 87! My wife shot a 90! Great day. Love this course!
The fairways are in good shape but the greens are terrible. Tee boxes are not flat and a couple are mostly sand. Would not pay full price on weekends but the weekday rate was ok for the course conditions.
Good course. A little dried out.
It has been really dry lately and the course is showing it some. Greens were better before the heat and dry set in. Tee boxes need to grow grass - lots of sand. Fairways decent.
I don't know what happened the greens were very spotty and unreliable and the courses missing a lot of grass
The course had areas of fairway with no grass.
Greens were very fast (good) but very hard to read.
Hope they can improve the greens
All in all, an enjoyable day. I played on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy, so pretty slow. The round took about four and a half hours.
I got a little frustrated with the junk grass on the greens as it can deflect your putt in a different direction. Most of my missed putts came down to my own mistakes, but the grass cost me a few strokes. One of the locals said the course got infested with some insects years ago and it never quite recovered. The other 18, The Pines, is being renovated as of April 2025. Getting new greens.
the course is fun and still challenging
The fairways were a little bit thin, but very playable until the spring growth is complete. This was my first outing in about a year due to health issues. I plan on seeing you about one a month this year. Thanks for all your efforts to keep the course in good condition and fun to play.
Drove by the course about 1:45 or so this afternoon. I counted quickly 10 golf carts on #1 hole on the Oaks. Do you people not understand about not going to the tee box until a few minutes before your tee time? They will probably be lucky to finish before dark. All these other golf courses to play close to the price you pay at FWB but no, they want to play a 5 hour round of golf on a course in so-so shape. People are morons LOL
