Course
The course was in pretty good shape. I would recommend it if asked were to golf. We are planning on coming back next week.
Old folks day out
Had our best round scoring 7 under par. The course and weather were ideal. Recommend golfers get out and play these two courses.
Nice Course
Great weather, good greens, nice fairways. It was a fun course. I will play here again.
You get what you pay for.
If you are coming from out of town, this is an average course at best. If money is not a barrier, go somewhere else especially if you want a great place to play while on vacation. I have played in many regions of the country and would not bring my golf mates here unless they are price sensitive. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to play and don't mind a slower pace, this is a great option. The tee boxes and fairways are decent and represent the price However, for the money, the greens were exceptional as they rolled true. The fairways are tightly treelined. It's easy to find your ball but expect to hit punch shots if you miss the fairway.
Friday play
Us old timmers try and get out once a week and play best ball. The city courses are in great condition fairways and greens. The weather was ideal. Will do it again next week.
TEE TIME MANAGEMENT NEEDED
If you come here on the weekend, be prepared for a long round. Pace of play here is atrocious! 2 to 3 groups waiting on tee boxes constantly. It really takes the fun out of the game. I understand they are low on marshals, but this is ridiculous. Do not recommend weekend golf here.
Exactly - a marshal might help but what else needs to be done is golfers with a tee time booked online ONLY on weekends. Way too money hungry and they (golf manager) could care less about the golfers - members or non-members.
Another nice round at FW
Enjoyed the round.
Supposed to be play The Oaks but too wet after o/n rain.
Pines is a good course - wide & generous fairways.
Recommended Course
I enjoy fort walton, nice big piece of land with two 18 hole layouts, the Pines is a little more open and the Oaks , you must be more precise off the tee. The greens and fairways are in really good shape for november just wish the tee boxes were flat, for the most part they were uneven, tilted with spines in middle. Its always windy here, great range for hitting balls and practice greens for both chipping and putting. I enjoy my time here and look forward to playing again.
Great condition
The course was immaculate! I normally play in the Atlanta area and putt on greens infested with ball marks. I don’t think I saw an unrepaired mark the whole round! The fairways and tees were in great shape as well. Pace of play was decent after we got off the first, the group behind us had the same tee time, but they were gracious enough to let our 3some play ahead of the 4 of them. Will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone for a great value
Great round even after heavy rain
We were due to play the Oaks, but the previous day heavy rain meant carry-only and no buggies. So decided to play Pines again and it was great. Coped well despite course being wet in a few places and bunkers heavy and wet.
Course doesn't get a good chance to dry out if you are out there playing on it!!!! People with absolutely no common sense at all and chewing the heck out of the course since you probably hit divots more than the golf ball. I see today the golfer wanna-be's only had 2 of them today so they actually were out of the way for once!
old Farrts day out
played a best ball game. Had lots of fun. try and do this once a week; It gets us off our butts and on the course. The two city courses are convenient and in great shape.
Enjoyable and sufficient challenge for higher hanficsppers
Played The Pines course at FWB. Course was in good condition and greens ran well - fairly quick and true.
For the price this is really good VFM.
Looks like you might have played on a Tuesday and one of the courses is usually closed a portion of the day on a Tuesday. Pace of play is generally bad because the golf course does not honor its own rules about tee times.
I've seen 3 groups on a tee box at the same time and they all swear they have the same tee time. You are also right about playing elsewhere. There are 6 or 7 courses close by that are in better shape and you might with a little looking online pay $10 more but the moron visitors here do not pay attention and they find out the hard way. On top of it, if you make an early morning tee time, the marshals put groups together that do not want to be put together and then by 9AM, it turns into chaos and singles and two-somes can just go out whenever. New golf course manager and he is no better than the old one.
