Good value, slower pace of play
Drove from Panama City Beach for late morning start time. Check in was seamless, and staff were very friendly in clubhouse. Arrived with time to warm up on driving range. Practice balls reasonably priced… hitting off mats to several target flags in field. Played the Oaks course. This is a shot makers course, and requires strategy to keep your ball in the narrow fairways. Tee blocks were uneven in places and would benefit from maintenance. Dormant grass in fairways, with no obvious bare patches. Greens were also dormant, but ran smooth and reasonably fast. Pace of play was a bit slow, with our foursome taking about 4 hrs 15min. Price is good for the course, and even better with a hot deal from Golf Now. Would recommend playing, and will return to play the Pines course.
January golf
Average winter conditions with dormant grass.
Greens were firm. Pleased to play in 3 1/2 hours.
Surprised by casual snow in shaded areas!
Enjoyed the day.
Nice Layout
Played nine on the Oaks on a cold January afternoon. Fairways were in better shape than expected for the time of year. Greens were slow but the ball seamed to roll well. View in photos is coming up the ninth fairway.
Pace
Had a group of 5 in font of us that held up the entire course and then got mad when we passed them
Have had that happen before and basically told the clowns to not play so slow and if they don't like it, complain to the golf manager LOL! People local or out of towners think they own the course which really irks myself and MANY others I play with. This business of double and triple booking the exact same tee times is what really backs the course up also but unfortunately, it is about money to the golf course and if the golfers don't like it, they can play somewhere else which is a shame to have that attitude by the golf manager. Other local golf courses once a tee time is taken whether it is 4 golfers or less, then that is it! No one else gets that tee time - period!
UT48hwyctt8Em6WgrYda,
I would welcome anymore of your feedback anytime. Please feel free to reach out to me at jhill2@fwb.org.
Probably the same moron group we passed 3 or 4 weeks ago that had 5 or 6. Golf Course of course does not enforce any rules so that doesn't help but if people like that get mad, just yell at them to go play somewhere else LOL
Awesome!
The staff was awesome! Bailey in the grill was out of this world! If I wasn't married! The only complaint I have is the new app for checking in on GolfNow does not work with this gold course. You still need to check in.
As Expected
The course is in its typical shape for this time of the year. No
Typical for this time of year
Course conditions were as usual for this time of year. Very little grass in Fairways or on greens but the course still was fun to play.
Course
The course was in pretty good shape. I would recommend it if asked were to golf. We are planning on coming back next week.
Old folks day out
Had our best round scoring 7 under par. The course and weather were ideal. Recommend golfers get out and play these two courses.
Nice Course
Great weather, good greens, nice fairways. It was a fun course. I will play here again.
You get what you pay for.
If you are coming from out of town, this is an average course at best. If money is not a barrier, go somewhere else especially if you want a great place to play while on vacation. I have played in many regions of the country and would not bring my golf mates here unless they are price sensitive. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to play and don't mind a slower pace, this is a great option. The tee boxes and fairways are decent and represent the price However, for the money, the greens were exceptional as they rolled true. The fairways are tightly treelined. It's easy to find your ball but expect to hit punch shots if you miss the fairway.
Looks like you might have played on a Tuesday and one of the courses is usually closed a portion of the day on a Tuesday. Pace of play is generally bad because the golf course does not honor its own rules about tee times.
I've seen 3 groups on a tee box at the same time and they all swear they have the same tee time. You are also right about playing elsewhere. There are 6 or 7 courses close by that are in better shape and you might with a little looking online pay $10 more but the moron visitors here do not pay attention and they find out the hard way. On top of it, if you make an early morning tee time, the marshals put groups together that do not want to be put together and then by 9AM, it turns into chaos and singles and two-somes can just go out whenever. New golf course manager and he is no better than the old one.
Slower pace of play because of groups like you that drive past 10 golf courses to play OURS! Play your own courses and the Pines will be closed to the public soon for like 6 months which is GREAT!
