For the market in the local area and prime real-estate, This is confusingly and easily one of the worst courses in the county. This was my 2nd chance for this place, came a year ago and the place was under lots of construction and the course was awful. But that's not their fault, so I came again. Got their an hour early to practice and warm up only to be met with an inoperable ball dispenser machine.
Whatever, go check in for our game. The gentlemen at the counter was not helpful in identifying our cart. The one reserved for us was not present on the lot and when we asked for a different one we were met with hostility. We rented clubs and were given lefty clubs for a righty golfer. Once that was worked out we made the hike back to our cars to grab our gear because carts are NOT allowed in the lot -- God knows why not.
Once we were loaded up, we waited for 40 minutes with nothing to do but loiter and putt. We brought drinks to make the wait easier but staff was petty about no outside drinks so we spent the time counting cars on the highway. When our tee time finally arrived, we were greeted by 2 other groups who had also been booked at the same time that we were. Tripple booked tee time on the same course meant another 20 minute wait.
Through the course, much of the improvements were tough to identify. The greens were rough and riddled with weeds. Paths were battered and confusing to follow at some points.
This course has so much potential. I'm not sure if it's greed or mismanagement that drives all the discrepancies. I'll never return and refer every friend of mine elsewhere. The grossly unsupervised military courses on Eglin are preferable to this place.
Good course
The only real negative I have is that the greens are in poor condition. To make any putt of over 4' is a pure crap-shoot as the ball bounces along over crabgrass and bare spots and ground moss.
If your handicap is that high, putting is the least of your worries. Probably should take up something like gardening instead of golf.
Great course
A lot of people saying the course is in bad shape. It’s coming out of winter people. This course is played very heavily everyday. For the money the course is really fun. It’s wide open for all levels. Hit it right or left you can find the ball no problem. Are the greens perfect? No they are not. Is this a great city course absolutely. Want to play a course that’s prestine then go pay 150 a round to play that course. We had a foursome with two beginners had a great time and the staff was wonderful. We like it and will play it again. Don’t expect a 150.00 course for 50.00 it’s not going to happen. I doubt anyone who gives negative reviews for this course can break 100 on any given day at any course. Enjoy the game and have fun that’s what it’s about.
Good points - just remember to stay out of our way when we are playing since I am sure we are faster than your group.
Tee Boxes need work. Not a lot of grass and 0 level ground.
Go play somewhere else then and stay off of our course unless you are a member.
First play
The rate booked on your website was wrong. They needed more money. All tee boxes were a mixture of dirt and sand
Play somewhere else then and stay off of our course.
Winter leaves still there
Hard to find your ball when not in the middle. They haven't picked up the leaves from the fall. Other than that the course is in good condition.
Pine Course at Ft Walton Beach
Course in very rough condition, and played behind walkers who didn't care to move very fast. When fog rolled in, had to quit because of pace of play and temperature drop.
Typical Florida course
I played as a single. Was between a 3 some and 4 some. Playing time was well over 4 hours due to a slower group head of us. Greens were good, fairways lacked grass. For the location it was ok, but I would not go back or recommend it to a friend.
Well dipstick I got news for you if you think Eglin's courses or Hurlburt is/are better because they are not!! Open up your coin purse and play the courses in Destin or Niceville if you are a visitor here. Tired of non-locals playing our local course!! Your comment about double/triple tee times I will say is legit though. Someone in a degree of authority needs to get that corrected someday.
